Hey man welcome to the forums. Sorry i didn’t do it earlier but as you can see, I’ve been somewhat…busy. Sorry you came in with all the Morton’s going around but I feel it necessary to put some of these fools on blast that ALWAYS have something to say, yet once they leave the city can’t make it to day 2…anyway, good seeing new comp. Im not on xbox live either but hopefully we can meet sometime at hastings if you come out. Now…

I have just about played everybody that is active in the Memphis scene so I can determine who is good, who is not, and who could go into another city and hold their own. I mean come on man, a Tekken player is our best Street Fighter player, which I will get to in greater detail in a moment. You posted the results from the last 4 tourneys here. Out of the 4 players that I said were relevant here, 2 of them had those 3 of those 4 spots. We have POTENTIALLY GOOD TALENT. There is a difference between being good now, and maybe being good in the future. I mean I get into this scene and man I hear all this talk like “ahhhh nigga we’s don’t play online that often, offline and in person is where is at”. So I’m like ok, these guys are the truth…and out of about 15 dedicated players we have about 4 or 5 that are legit. I can go a whole month without playing this game, go to Hastings on a Wednesday night, and still hold my own against people that go nearly every week and will put me on blast because I can’t come…SERIOUSLY??? Like I said, the only players that really have me thinking “hey, in order to beat them, I need to be in the lab daily for at least 3 hours” are the ones I mentioned earlier. The rest of the crew, I can drop combos and literally spam standing fierce with Dudley and beat these guys! Not impressive especially when you come on here and act as if you are the truth and call me out. So if you are anything like most of the players here…which it sounds as if you are, then Im going to play you and not be impressed and walk away yawning!

As for Lil Majin and THIS IS THE LAST TIME I WILL DISCUSS THIS!!! I can not, can not, can not, can not, CAN NOT for the life of me understand how people here can be content on allowing someone who HATES THE GAME BE THE BEST AT IT. I understand raw natural talent, and Majin has that and I have the utmost respect for the guy, but I dare you to go to any other major city in this country and ask who the best Street Fighter 4 player is and ask them do they like the game. I can almost promise you the best players in major cities also have an appreciation for Street Fighter 4, not just the money. Majin is known in this city as a Tekken and Guilty Gear player. Whenever I mention that I play fighting games competitively, people ask “oh you know Lil Majin? Man he is amazing in Guilty Gear and Tekken”. Nothing about street fighter is mention. YET we are content on letting him be the best here in Street Fighter! I have only heard one other person not agreeing with this. As soon as Best players in memphis discussions come up, everybody goes and hides behind Majin…I DONT GET IT!!! I just can only sit back, smh, and laugh.

I agree with Lycan, overall we have a good scene here and I support it 110%. But a lot of people here are ok with mediocrity. I know this is a hobby, but why not give it your all and not just become content. I will never be content with being at the bottom of the barrel. It was **Very Embarrassing ** to see Tekken players represent Memphis in Street Fighter at the Nashville tourney back in May. Tragic!

So sir chithappens, Im sure we will play soon…and I will walk away not impressed. Again Im preparing for tragedy. Don’t let me down! : )

Chithappens you can get in on these too because you sound scrubby to me and I love free money! Again, THE BEST WAY TO SHUT ME UP, IS TO BEAT ME. I also want to say that I left Bishop out. He is pretty good and could hold his own outside the city…but you were a Tekken player right bishop? lol Im starting to see a pattern here. Sleep well gentlemen!

First off, I don’t understand the shame of Majin being better, he’s played longer and grapplers just seem to click with him, like with King in Tekken.

Also I don’t understand your not impressed thing, do these people beat you and then you decide to say that you’re not impressed? If that’s what’s really going through your mind when you lose and not, “okay, what did I do wrong, I feel I’m better but they won.” If you truly feel that you’re better than the person that beat you shouldn’t be “unimpressed” with them, they were able to read and figure you out better than you could, think about what they did and try to beat them next time, don’t be a poor sport about it.

Fighting games in general are about mind games, timing and execution. Majin just adjusts well to his opponents. SF4 is not a terribly complex game. All he needed to learn with Gief was lp lp lp lp lp, EX green fist. You can’t just be better than someone with sheer will. This ain’t DBZ and you are not SSJ2 Gohan. If he mind rapes you, that’s it. If Majin loved SF then you would be ok with him being the best?

Improve but don’t call out people like you boss hog or something. You have placed in less shit than me I’m only in Memphis during the summer and never travel to Nashville for tourneys. WTH.

I’m not at all embarrassed about being represented by Tekken players in May. Life happens. If folks are able to travel, they normally will.

I’m not interested in doing an MM with you. You might be better, likely not if you need 30 days of training before playing anyone :rolleyes: , but I have zero interest in even bothering with someone who is poisoning the fun atmosphere that was simmering. It’s becoming personal and I do not endorse that kind of motivation in a video game.

Anyway, I’m bringing a PS2 setup next week. I got CVS2, Tekken Tag, Bloody Roar 2, MVC2, and 3S. We are gonna need some extra set ups next week fa sho. :karate:

Seriously though, he’s the best and he hates the game? As much as I’m not deep into the scene yet, that doesn’t even make sense, the best painters don’t hate to paint. The best football players don’t hate football. I wasn’t really involved in this conversation, but GD has a point. That does say something when the best person hates the game. Either he’s lying about that, or, someone else who loves the game, just isn’t practicing as much as they should.

Well to be honest, GdBell does have a slight point in his post. SnoManX too. Unfortunately it’s nothing new lol.

Some of us(Tekken/Gear/etc) players, never understood how people were content in allowing Rell, and also Marcus, to be dominant in SF4 for so long. These guys truly, truly, truly, do not play this game, aside from Marcus learning d/f,d/f+ultra with Dudley when it first dropped. Honestly, if I were a SF player and Rell beat me I would be mad as hell. Seriously. As far as GdBell seeing a pattern, well yea. It’s simply that some of the older players happened to travel and compete in Tek, GG, etc. Then SF4 dropped. Some of us didn’t like it but you can’t take away raw skill or experience. We were the “serious” fighting game players here, so it was expected that AT FIRST we would run shit in that too until dudes got better or whatever. Unfortunately, I really don’t care for the game or have this passion to compete in it so I have since been officially surpassed by everyone and their mother. However, Rell and Marcus are still “up there”. (Other people of old crew like Bishop, Jay, play the game, like it, so I’m not mentioning them.) But yea, it’s understandable these two would be a force given that they are experienced, have raw talent, etc. The difference between me and them is that they DO NOT LIKE TO LOSE WHATSOEVER. No matter if it’s a game they despise like SF4 or fucking Yu Gi OH cards or some shit.

Me, Rell, and Marcus discussed this earlier today. And before. Many times. Basically, by this point ALL of the Tekken players/people who hate SF4/blah blah should have been surpassed by now I guess. If Rell wins another tourney or even comes top 3, it should make people feel pretty shitty. But don’t take offense to that. Just use it as a drive to get better and represent. It only makes sense. So again, some of the shit GdBell is speaking is like, kinda dead on with how others feel, and have felt about this whole situation. You guys should forcefully remove Lil Majin from SF4 praises. But not by simply excluding him. That’d be hating lol. You gotta do it on the brackets. Until that happens, this city(Memphis) is being led by a guy who hates a game he only plays at tourneys. Even still, he’s not going to lay down and simply allow it to happen easily when he picks up that pad. You guys are going to have to beat his motherfucking ass.

Sev, I’ll see what’s happening with me early afternoon Mon or Tues and shoot for that if you’re free. Will also try to bring Rell and/or Marcus with me since you’re sounding pretty serious about repping at Evo. Do it.

Hmmm…I’ll dig through my closets and find it. Dunno about FT3 though, those matches can get heated. Maybe 2/3. Or maybe I’ll play a few casuals with someone to get a feel for how long a game takes, then we’ll set it up from there.

Heh…Money Matches on Lay Away, Classic. And the level up fights are now in Hastings? When did this happen? I need some more competition, my friend Stormscorch and I play almost every night, but I’m starting to play everyone I fight, like they are him. Who does stuff on the weekends. I work nights, and can’t really make Wednesdays.

Snowman: I think we have been at Hastings for three or four weeks now. Goes from 7 - 10 or so. Lately we have been running ranbat tests since we want to start doing seasons of them to track player progress when we get back from Evo. We always have super and tek 6 up there. We look forward to seeing you this week. Bring a set up if you can.

Ya’ll really gonna have to let go of this motivation about Majin hating SF4.

When were at Sean’s place Majin took first in SF4, GG, Tekken, and CVS2 (probably would’ve gotten 3S also). HE’S A GOOD PLAYER. I want to be beat him. I’m not scared of Majin in anything. Massive respect for the skill but each time I play him, I’m not scared. I’m looking at a chance to learn and get better so I can get to the point where he asking about my name before he go somewhere. It would be one thing if he never played fighting games but was winning at the SF4 series, but who in TN is consistently beating Majin IN ANY FIGHTING GAME?

Circumstances shouldn’t determine how motivated you are to beat anybody. I bought a 360 in May 2010 so I have not even had access to practice mode (I bought SF4 on PC but there is so massive input lag on it even for quad cores :wasted: ). Now, I still can’t play online because my internet went out so Live is out of the question most of the time. I use a 360 pad that at random moments won’t register down on the d-pad. I play at Hasting’s and that’s about it. The other time I play offline is teaching someone with almost no fighting game experience how to play which is not going to help you when trying to play seriously. It’s why I still don’t have a main and mostly jump around characters until I get a groove with someone that night.

But the thing is, if you can beat me, you don’t give a damn about that. And if you have lost to me, you don’t give a damn. It’s about results.

End of the day, Majin is an OG “what fighting game is that? I’m finna beat you ass in it” dude. Beating him is not about being great at ONE game, it’s about getting better as a player overall. Stop focusing on SF4. You gonna have guys stop playing cause they can’t beat a certifiable jack of all trades.

I’m pretty sure Majin plays a little more than “just tournaments”, he dabbles around in training mode once in awhile and I’m pretty certain after a loss that motivates him a bit more…It’s not like he magically dabbled with T. Hawk in his mind and starting using him a bit in tourneys also, he has to experiment and screw around a little, but that’s besides the point…he definitely does not play the game anywhere near as much as Tekken and he does well besides that. He’s only lost 4-5 tourneys he’s entered in any SF4 game, so he’s never going to be an easy out…

Majin is the best overall fighting game player in the state. He’s not the best Street Fighter player in the state.

If anyone in this place still sort of cared about CVS2, 3s, and ST, then we’d at least have some more old school representation, but those games needed to die honestly…

Negro Justice: Well, woot still hasn’t played Charlie, Jacob, Eugene, Eddie and myself, and that is definitely a huge chunk missing from Nashville…so he still really hasn’t played everyone here at all like he originally thought. MTAC as comparison to best players in the state = WTF? It’s like Blanka Bros all over again, LOL…

and wait…didn’t Linuka get 2nd AGAIN at MTAC? He doesn’t even play SF anymore…
