Tennessee Thread-"Theres Something About Seagulls and Electrolytes....."

I always hated ring outs in SC… it’s just a cheesey way to end a match imo.

It’s easy by comparison to other games, however, Ivy and Setsuka are the two characters with the more difficult moves. Ivy’s CS is a prime example. Takes a little while to get down.

It’s not like, stupid easy, I guess, but it’s not terribly difficult, either.

Hey im trying to get to the tourney in nashvillie this weekend. if anybody has a open space inthere car let me know. I will chip in on gas. You can text me at 9013190425. And i live by the old fun fair arcade.

Comeback mechanics in a fg in general is a stupid idea imo.

I wouldnt really call it a comeback mechanic, it just feels silly to have something in a fighting game where if the opportunity arises the round is automatically over no matter how much life either character has. Like instant kills in the first Guilty Gear. Match starts, red screen, back to character select lol. Even though you could just hit qcf back and any button to stop it, it just felt dumb.

Well on paper any super meter is somewhat of a comeback mechanic anyway since you gain bar for being hit. Granted I dont like the silly comeback stuff XFC, Rage Mode ect. Ring outs I dont even consider a comeback mechanic, though it can work as one its just a bad mechanic. IMO.

thanks for the info krit, I’m starting to get a better idea of what it’s about. Glad to hear it’s not too juggle/combo dependant. I think i’ll play mitsuroogi because he’s a samurai and I always wanted to be one.

I’m guessing they don’t intend ringouts as a comeback mechanic. I think it’s to add to the entire strategy of the match. Rushing someone towards the edge is going to be risky because if you make a mistake you are ring outed. So maybe it’s just another tradeoff you have to make when choosing to be the agressor. Also, if I had to choose between ringouts and wall juggles I choose ringouts.

Listen to me try and defend a game I know nothing at all about. I just like swords and stuff ok?

Ultras are the best comeback mechanic! They’re not a stupid damage and/or overall powerup for your character (like rage, x factor, etc.) and you never get big damage raw ultras unless the opponent does something really punishable (or does something that the ultra is specifically designed to counter, like in the case of anti-fireball ultras). And for the characters that can combo into them for the additional damage, you usually have to have saved up another resource (2 bars of meters) to FADC. None of this applies to Sagat’s trade DP ultra… that is on a whole level of amazing all on its own.

Sunstone, no disrespect, but there’s really no need to post videos that are on the front page in this thread.

krazeejl…it is cool…i was playing yesterday for a bit with the baby right next to me…that was an adventure putting my hand on her during matches to stop fussing…lol…don’t think i will do that much any more…affects my gameplay…

i think i picked cammy once too…nothing behind it…i just like picking gief randomly…just in that mood for hakan/gief…i would have played more but baby was getting fussier and fussier…

Did not check the front page, my bad.

Comeback mechanics. Ringouts. People don’t like anything that adds another level of danger to a game. At least when it’s something that “anyone” can do. Truth is, like it or not, you have the same option as the other guy. Which in reality, is as fair as you can get. If we both have guns, then we both can and should be able to shoot each other right? People seem to want to be the man holding the gun against the unarmed victim. Folks will exploit a game and do the cheapest and dirtiest stuff possible knowing that the other guy doesnt stand a chance, but nowadays with these comeback factors, you’re opponent remains a threat at all times and people have a problem with that for some reason.

That being said, I don’t mind Ringouts, Ultras, or X-Factor because the truth is, I have those options as well and will use them to my advantage. They add another level of depth to each game that you have to respect, no matter who you are. You can call Marvel “random” all you want, but that really isn’t the case. Everything happens for a reason. Even if you got hit by a character swinging in front of them but get hit while you’re behind them. Obviously the hit box is that big. Stupid? Yep but nothing to rack your brain over. Maybe you should look out for that in the future. “Oh but X-Factor is so cheap and stupid!” Well guess what. You have it too so use it…wisely.

Ultras are some of the most unsafe moves in SFIV. Bait that shit and punish, not to mention you have one too. Ringouts are in SC so just accept it or dont play it. Oh yeah, and you can ring your opponent out too ya know. If you just sit down and think about everything “stupid” that happens or works in a fighting game there will always be a reason. Whether you agree or like that reason or not. It’s there. Shut up and deal with it or just don’t play the game. Too much effort is used on negativity and hate for thing you have no control over.

I guess Ultras are the best way to implement comeback mechanics but I would prefer that they not exist.

Ultras in combos aren’t really part of the overall comeback…it’s a lot of reasons why “some” OGs left Street Fighter when SSFIIX came out…I don’t have a problem with them; I get hit a lot by them though, lol

I can’t decide if he’s trolling or not

Optical Joystick, I own one.
