GGs again to everyone last night - Dream sorry I had to run after a few, baby started crying! HA! I need to invent a silent stick that has no clicks - anyone have any ideas? I use a blanket right now and it doesn’t completely silence it…
@Hiryu
Haha she actually can get punished after her tatsu by grapplers. If i F up my spacing, then after she lands and before she throws her fireball she can get command grabbed.
@Sev
Yeh it was fun playing KOF last night. And playing your king hopefully will help me with my king.
eesh. Thanks anyways
I heard one of the stick part companies (I think Sanwa) was prototyping silent/near silent sticks and buttons. There was a post on SRK a little while back. It’s more expensive than the standard parts but it might be worth a try.
SC5 has XFactor. It’s called ringouts. lol
Seriously though, can’t wait for that game to hit. Astaroth making his axe breakdance on people is too hilarious.
anybody is a contender with ring outs
If you lose by a ring out, it’s your own fault. Stage positioning is key in Soul Calibur, period. There is no end all, be all combo/juggle/etc, and ring outs do not = anyone is a contender.
Another note: If you lose to SC4 Maxi, you’re doing something terribly wrong, because he’s pretty much the worst character in that game.
Scrub mentalities. It’s what’s for lunch.
bwahhahaha scrub mentalities
Um…I am not a huge SC player or anything but wasn’t there an issue with 4 being that like Hilde could ring you out from anywhere on the stage. That kind of voids proper positioning. But I hate ring outs on general principle so…
I do hope SC5 is good and gets play though. I did enjoy playing SC2 but I was not “pro” at it by any means.
I used to play Voldo in Soul Edge but i hated the clothing in that game so I stop playing it
And that’s why she was banned. Before she was banned though, an Ivy player won EVO. Hilde wasn’t unbeatable, but she could lead to easy OHKO, especially on smaller stages. After the community disallowed her, all kinds of different characters won more tournaments.
As for people hating ringouts, I just ignore that. They work both ways, and if you got knocked out of the ring, that was your fault. Learn spacing and positioning, and it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I like to jump out of the ring sometimes, just to keep it interesting
I like this guy…
Anyone that thinks SC is a masher really has never attempted to PLAY the game. SC has always been a block heavy game, and all about playing for frame advantage.
If anything SC is more about blockblockblockblockblock PUNISH!
Ah didnt know she got banned.
Regarding ring outs we will probably have to end up just agreeing to disagree. I dont deny that when playing its something you have to take into account and it does work both ways but to me that doesnt change it from being a bad mechanic. You could be winning the round easily make one positioning error and your opp kills you because you crossed an imaginary line while being juggled. That kind of design, one mistake = loss, is not a good thing IMO. Look at XFC in Marvel as an example of one mistake being death. Sure you have to be hit, or make a mistake and get guard XFC canceled in order to take that damage but that doesnt change it from being a bad idea. Granted I am not counting chip dmg situations but even then the argument could be made you put yourself in that position.
I think we should all just pick Kilik and hit forward B all day
Hilde had Doom Combo, and was indeed banned, however, she only won one major, and there were only 2 notable Hilde players in the community. Actually, she wasn’t even broken, and it’s still brought up from time to time. The reason why she was banned, I believe, is purely because the SC community is small, and they couldn’t afford to lose all their players because of Hilde. I honestly think a lot of people made her out to be worse than she was, which was why the community was so fractured, etc. But all of it is still pretty unclear to me. Also, it wasn’t every stage, and not even every stage with ringouts. It was only on small stages, but eh, that issue is over and no one cares since SCV is coming, and she was banned.
Anyhow, regarding ringouts as a mechanic, it isn’t simply one mistake = you lose all the time. That claim can be attributed to a lot of fighting games, in such an instance. It’s one of those things, it’s a basic mechanic of the game and it’s not going anywhere. Ringout is a comeback mechanic. Rage is supposed to be a comeback mechanic, too, right?
Also, again, juggles do exist in SC, but it isn’t a juggle dependent game. Also, note that the game rewards critical thinking, mindgames/mixups/tech traps/etc.
Granted, I am not an amazing SC player, either. (Not yet.) But anyone who doesn’t have proper knowledge of the system of any fighting game could call it masher friendly. It’s just an ignorant statement I come across a lot. :3 It’d be like me saying SF is masher friendly because you can mash DP. I’m pretty sure I’d get the same reaction from you guys, since you actually know about the game. xD
Is the execution that easy? I haven’t the slightest clue how to play Soul Calibur, but some Cookeville guys like it so I was going to play it some just because. I wanna play Ivy, but I sat in training mode for literally like 45 minutes and did her command throw like… twice. I mean, looking at forums everyone was bitching about that particular move, and that it was harder than in other games. I hope Ivy is easy in V.
Think before you answer this, what fighting game is not like that?
Power Stone
Heavy Metal: Geomatrix
Spawn in the Demon’s Hand
Street Fighter 1
