Tennessee Thread - How Do You Eat a Fart?

Too tired to go to Jas fight night that last hour. Aaaaaag.

proclick: This Thai dude roleplays to Ghost Squad in the arcade, when he “kicks the door in” at 1:06, I nearly died. This is the proest of clicks. (A ‘lordly’ click, if you will.) Not to mention, he’s REALLY fucking good at the game too lol

So…will Galactus betornament legal but terrible, like. G lightan/PtA, or banned like Gill/ R. Ky etc…?

Yo, just moved to knoxville from richmond, va. been playing fight man games for awhile. hungry for some games. do you guys have weeklies?

No there are only 3 or 4 of us in that area. I live in Sweetwater 30 mins from Knox. RagingRaven, Spiralbottom, and Chit Happens. I have heard that there are many underground players in the area but have never met anyone besides the ones named. Add my XBL for some online games anytime I am online. Oh and I forgot KrazyJL, He lives in Maryville. If you wanna play though just hit me up.

FML. i’m going to have to build up a scene here. next time you talk with those dudes tell them there’s a guy who trying to start a something in knox. playing online is alright, but i’m a big advocate for in person matches. more hype. i’m always down to travel for games. 30-60 minute drive is no problem for a meet and game session. i don’t have an xbox at the moment, i have 3 at my place in virginia all modded all red ringed. all these new titles coming out i need to play against some strong competition so when i go back to VA i can leave those dudes hugging on the morton’s.

We have been trying to get a scene going for a while. Shooters and MTG are the big comp scene here. I will let the other guys know that there is a new guy in town.

thanks i appreciate it. lets get some games together soon. also, i graduated with a degree in graphic design/copy writing/advertising so promotion is my thing. i’m always willing to draft stuff up to promote weeklies/monthlies/ranbats whatever. back in richmond we started with a handfull and when i left we had 15-20 heads come to our weeklies on tuesdays and thursdays. there has to be a way to draw these kids out of their basements/push casual players into the competitive scene. would giving away monster energy fitted hats and dale earnhardt memorabilia entice people around here enough to come out to a weekly gathering?

Lol It might help. I am working on finishing my Music Ed. degree by this December. But yeah hit me up sometime and I will see if it works into my schedule. I am normally busy during the week but weekends I am free.

Yo, I’m in Knoxville.

The biggest issue with creating a larger scene as most people can tell you is finding a venue. Years ago, we had a venue and averaged about 8-10 people every Friday. We lost the venue, and a lot of people have moved or just aren’t playing fighters anymore. So long story short, there’s no venue and interest has waned recently from guys not on the forums for a variety of reasons.

There are two MLG Tekken players, six players who are competent in Marvel, about 10 SF guys, and among those some who play every fighter they can get their hands on.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about my short, lazy post.

Cool, my work schedule is set in stone. so I have saturdays and tuesdays off, and i always work 11-7. So i can travel and stay out late. are there any bars/restaurants/bowling alleys around here that will let us have setups as long as we purchase food/booze/bring kids? there have to be some UT students that are competitive gamers who can book ballrooms or something.

You were on my list of Knox players…

I just was giving a short overview of the stuff from the six years I’ve been in and out of Knox.

UT only gives rooms out to organizations associated with UT. We found a way around that but it’s not an option for public use. Any bar, restaurant or bowling alley wants a coverage charge up front regardless of what you will buy once inside. I’m not discouraging a new search, but that’s been the previous experience.

I understand the woes of finding the foundations for a scene, i was just talking out loud. i heard about the strong tekken community here from the bristol kids, so i’m glad to know there are people who dabble in other genres. i know i’m stoked for the persona fighting game and the new kof. and if there are at least this many heads we got to find some place to gather and play all these games under one roof, even if it’s someone’s cramped one bedroom, i have a 19" led tv i can bring anywhere if needed.

can anyone solder or have soldering tools? i need to fix some connections on my old ps1 namco stick.

We could always go the route of the Chattanooga crew and hit up a Buffalo Wild Wings. Supposedly as long as we buy food they let them have fight nights on their TVs and at that venue.

Also Chit used to host fight nights. I never personally was able to make it out but i heard they were fun.

there’s a bdubs in knoxville right? i wonder if they’ll allow us the same courtesy as long as its not a big pay per view event night.

The only one i know of is at Turkey Creek. They may but i have no idea.
