Welcome to Knoxville. My son Josh is Ragingraven. He would come to any fight night you have as long as he would be allowed in (he is 15). He has wanted more offline people to play with since he started playing fgs. We are currently in OH at seasons beatings but post on here when you get something set up. Josh hardly ever gets on SRK but either I will see it or Aaron (chithappens) can let him know.
Richmond already had a decent scene though even before you started doing that…that’s an old school location from way back with kikin and Alex K and arcade that used to be there…
There are more people in Knoxville. They used to have fight nights at the University of Tennessee. There’s also a few Tekken guys up there as well, I would say around 8-12 in total still play, some don’t come out of their house much. Atron9000 plays online, doesn’t play in person, Red rock Candy, same thing…krayzeejl says he would play at a public place and the problem is there isn’t one to do that over there. Not everyone likes to play at people’s houses. There is a good scene for weeklies in Memphis and a good scene in Cookeville (90 minutes from you) and in Nashville we have an arcade with tournaments and stuff for this but Knoxville you need a public place to get people to come out and participate.

But yeah, point being they need a venue. Heck I would even say try game stores, they are the most likely to do it if there is room (and that’s a big if)
The only game shop i can think of stopped selling games to go solely MTG. Then we have Gamestop and that is a no go because they are so small.
Unless people want to travel to Athens, TN. Electronic Playground would let us use there set-ups for a small fee and they also have the games and the consoles. I do know these guys and could work with them. They worked with me when the Mk scene in Athens was big (20-27 people).

i’ve lived in RVA for the past 5 years, been playing games in VA for longer i was around when those dudes were. but unfortunately it went stale and people stopped doing anything. it’s only within the past year and some change we started again and you’re talking about the VCU arcade where the mid atlantic gaming tournaments were held right? it’s still kind of there. they turned into just one giant pool room, but the fight club found a bar/restaurant that would let us put cab’s in so it’s been kind of resurrected with 3s, mvc2, cvs2, samurai showdown 5, ST, and puzzle fighter. do you know robin, moose, or iceman?

That all went to the venue and when we had tourneys they were $10 and $5 went to the pot for winners.
Fight nights were casuals and tourneys for fun. Tourneys were once a month for cash.
damn $8 cover? that’s pricey. there has to be somewhere cheaper.
Like i said i will speak to them about it. I am thinking that i may be able to get it down to $5.
Also I could try and find a place on my campus that we could use. That would be difficult with me graduating in December.
