1:00 is perfect man. Just roll on in. I will have the beasts up.
Arson: Balrog may be easy to use, but I will bet $100 someone from here will not make him their main and start winning tourneys with him here. I LOVE playing against Balrog.
I am trying to make Akuma my main now! I actually find it easier just beacuse of teleport. Then again, a good gief can see that shit coming. After the first few matches, Majin started to catch on pretty quickly. He would space me correctly to get hit by the second kick of the S.RH only he would focus backdash and SPD very quickly. That shit hurts against Akuma. After he found out that a well timmed demon flip kick would stuff his lariat, he adjusted and blocked correctly too.
After a while, I also started playing a little smarter. I would basically run away and look for a well timmed S.RH into loop or combo and/or throw mixup. I happily found out that Lil Majin isn’t good a teching throws:) Atleast not vs Akuma.
Chuking plasma really didn’t do good justice as this guy can get around them correctly. The last 3 matches were basically down to the wire, time, and last round. Guess I always got impatient as well and he came out on top. It’s a good matchup to study though. Akuma’s glass chin vs. Gief’s raw strength. Akuma has more tools but you can’t fuck up IMO. Teleport was my friend until he started to double reg. green hand and SPD’ing me as soon as I recovered. He Ultra’ed me a few times like that. I thought I would be out of range but I guess not.
I did, however, get a little smarter vs his EX green hand. I baited that shit all day long. That was really my motive since I have been practicing to bait out EX meter and conserve and use mine wisely. Not to mention, I know he like to build meter for that EX green hand. The first match he beat me 2 rounds in a row. I took the second match and 3rd match. He then stopped my little streak. Footsies were definitely in his favor since I was very afraid of getting SPD’d. If I jumped back, he would RH my ass. His standing strong also pushed me back alot. And he does not, and I mean does not drop his BnB combo. c.jab, c.jab, c.jab, s.short, EX greenhand. Shit, I worte alot. Patience is needed in this match as well as untechable knock downs. I think if Akuma gets Gief frustrated the match is in Akuma’s favor severly and there is no way for Gief to win unless AKuma fucks up royally. Majin hardly gets imatient i guess!!! sorry for wall of text.
Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t win with him anytime soon.
Also, I never ever try the loop against Gief in a real match unless they are stunned and I am at like… 90% health. Bad idea, especially considering Gief’s hitbox can sometimes, for no reason move out of the range of your standing jab even when you are extremely close. It is really only useful against Sagat, and just plain mean against Abel. I suck at it though. I can hit it sometimes, and when I do I usually get 9 or so hits out of it, which is good and all ,but usually I just eat a big ol’ mash out tiger uppercut into ultra.
Yes that damn loop does suck against Able. AB v AK is a touch match-up for Able in general. Winnable but very frustrating.
Dream: Just out of curiosity why do you love playing Rog? Just cause people think he is easy mode or what?
You guys comin down for the tourney still?
I will probably be able to. I have been doing lots of taveling lately. Doesn’t fit to well with the wifey but this is a one day thing. I say yes!
Orel, lmfao. Hell nah dude. My copy of SFIV probably had 10 owners by now. I just remember some stuff I used, worked a bit at, back when I really, really wanted to be good at the game. I dunno how I was hitting every combo or linking into fierce hands consistently, when I prayed for it before. Maybe there’s some truth to the argument we had a while back about potentially being more solid when you DON’T play the game a lot. Play a few times, but when you do play, only against good or decent comp. That’s probably similar to emulating the feel of old arcades where you don’t want to lose that token and get back in a long ass line. So when it’s your turn you come correct like your life depends on it. It trains instinct, reaction and other shit you don’t get from vids, forums, etc. Also potentially mental training and getting a deeper understanding of the game by being AWAY from the sticks and observing sometimes. Or this could be all be some bull and I got lucky a few times. In either case, I still loathe IV and I won’t be getting anywhere in it. You and Rell are the top dogs here lol. I’ll sidebet on you guys anytime.
P.S. ROFL at Rell knowing exact recovery of teleport and stunting out with multiple green hands until SPD/ ultra time. Good ass set. You know you wanna play TvC. Ryu got evolved Squirtle, huge water stream super. Morrigan/Batsu gonna run shit in Memphis though(when Jay not there lol).
I did it at least 1 or 2 times, remember?
Q won 1 too.
Im just tired of charging all the time…
Severin: I love playing AGAINST Rog because he’s very overused and if you know all the tricks he’s not as bad to play against…
I can use everyone in the game pretty much but my business characters are Honda/Bison mostly…
Charge characters for life
except Ducking MP,MP , Ducking FP
I cant believe that links…
Im abuse that on Saturday
Hey Sev, if you can make it out this week for our Weekly Wednesday Warfare, it would be definitely good toplay against you again. But I know you’re a busy man, I understand. And without further ado…
If you are in the Cordova/Bartlett/Wolfchase area in Memphis I’m hosting an open freeplay session for SF4, Wednesday night, at Powerplay Videogames, from 7:00-9:00 PM.
We’ll be on 360, and bringing your own controller or stick is recommended. However, I will provide a Fightpad and classic controller for public use. If you play on PS3, and you are willing to bring your setup, please do. I’ll have to ask permission to get a second setup going, but the venue had no problem with it last time.
The venue is located at 841 N. Germantown Pkwy in Cordova, beside the Outdoors, Inc.
Good sportsmanship is expected, and please keep the salt to a minimum, as we are going to be in a public area. Format will be announced on-site, and will depend on the number of players who attend.
If you have any questions, you can email me at sf4memphis@gmail.com, or check my blog at http://grumble-and-mutter.blogspot.com/. You can also reply to me here, and I’ll do my best to answer promptly. Thanks for your interest, and I hope to see some of you there tomorrow night! Thank you.
DISCLAIMER: I am not employed by PowerPlay, Nor do I have any other affiliation with them. I’m simply working with them as they were willing to provide a venue for the event, and I’m trying to get more community events going.
Whats good Hiryu. I will try to make it if I can. Life has been running a train on my free time lately but I will do what I can to make it this week.
That may be true (about Balrog) but the fact remains that he has no business having an extra 100 hp and doing as much throw damage as he does. His tick throws are the best in the game, and if he is going to be able to tick throw like such a bastard then he ought not to do so much freaking damage when he does throw.
Ha ha ha… I have an answer for Viper now… :badboy:
What time is the ranbat Saturday? Also, is there going to be a team tournamet for SFIV? I reall hope so.
fresh…
SFIV starts @ 12PM
Tekken 6 starts @ 1PM
krayzeeJL ggs sir…it was laggy as hell though…the reason I was jabbing with cammy our last round was to see how laggy it was…and, it was lagging…so-so. Like that time I got hit with akuma’s fireball on the other side of the screen. I jump but it didn’t register. I was doing tiger uppercuts when I wasn’t supposed to be doing them after I forward dash and threw a fire ball…
oh yeah you must be a mashing guy like I am with Chun…lol You kept getting regular lightning legs to come out when I get in and try to throw. (throw usually beat that since it comes out in 7 frames). But I tried tick-throw and I always got hit by it. Blame it on lag? Hm…dunno. It’s a bad habit to break, but you must break it… I catch myself doing that stuff in block strings and I wanna punch myself in the face…
