Yeah same time far as I know.
Sweet I can actually go to this fight night. Might be a little late depending on when work sets me free, but I can still go O: And i’ll play every dang game.
And damn since im off on Wed I can stay a little later which will be cool
Yup. Works out good. We might can even have beers after!
This motherfucker right here…LEGGO
So how is the difficulty or aoi or lei. Goong through command train with lei, not sure how easy it is to know about all of the stance changes and shit. Just wondering what characters are more beginner friendly and whether those two are ok for it.
Yo who all is getting Guilty Gear when it hits XBL/PSN?
aaaaaaaannnndddd… I want to pick up VF5… but who all in nashville/mid-TN area is getting into it? I might pass on it if there’s no one to play around here. But it looks fun as hell.
I dont think Lei is very beginner friendly at all. He has something like 6 stances and then they have small changes if he is in the stance with his back to you or not. He also has several regualr stance specific combos if he is in open or closed stance. So its a lot to take in. I am using him as my secondary right now.
All the characters are deep and have their own nuances but in terms of easier to pick up IMO are Goh, Jeffrey, Lion, Wolf, Akira. Neither of them have any specific stances outside the basic open or closed stuff.
Defensively, Aoi has high, mid, low counters, so it’s reading or guessing correctly for most of her damage (as far as I can tell thus far). She has a couple of stances so not too much to learn there, but she cancel into those stances from a number of moves and feint a huge number of her moves. Also, chain grabs.
Ya I think I may try Akira or Leon then, just weird to play Akira with those tiny baby arms. Who else has this on PS3 btw?
PSN: ggrukus
Honestly Graham, it doesn’t matter. Personally, yea you have to become accustomed to Lei’s stances and transitioning in and out of them. Plus he has certain ways that he deals with certain things. And I think a good Aoi player has to have pretty good instincts, bait skills, and knowledge of the game. But…so what? It doesn’t matter man. Determine whether you wanna play the game. If so, start now with whoever appeals to you. Get the basics of game and fundamentals down, then some chara specifics. Get matches. Get your ass beat. Go to drawing board and integrate more shit. Get your ass beat. Apply new stuff all the while getting familiar with the character as well as a variety of player styles.
Idk, I just can’t use other charas for introductory purposes. I’d much rather grind it out with who I like from the jump. Makes for a more comfortable player in the long run. Beginner friendly is dumb in certain ways because any character in any game can be beginner friendly if you play on a beginner/casual level. It’s people’s ideas of how a chara SHOULD be played that lets them dictate entry level. Fuck that shit!
Long story short, play who you like. If it matters any, my guy VFnumbers from RI has one of the crunkest and most popular Lei-Fei’s in FS in the states right now. He’s cool as fuck and very knowledgable. DaBadSeed from NY is respected in scene for years has the best Aoi I’ve ever played and is the most entertaining one I’ve saw. I didn’t even know she was capable of certain shit until playing or talking to him. Both of those guys are on PSN and XBL.
I manage to play this shit everynight, most times with the above guys and others. I know you have game on PS3. If you want, you can just be our rooms, playing and getting exp. Alot of us have mics so you’ll hear convo. Online, but it’s closely reminiscent of how shit used to be. This’ll level you up faster than someone reccomending you a “beginner friendly” character and you learning “beginner friendly” combos and then getting “beginner friended” and scraped because you have no VF specific fundamentals or competent experience. Start NOW with whoever appeals to you. Do this in every fg too. I know it’s for good reason, but sometimes you guys debate and think too hard before you even pick up a stick and play. JUST DIVE IN.
I’m going to buy GGAC based off principle and nostalgia. And I may play matches here and there, but in no way am I playing it like we did before. Excellent game, but everyone here is grown now and we can play our own shit without having to play GG. This is a Memphis reference mostly. You HAD to play GG if you wanted to be in the “scene” back in the day lol.
About FS, to you guys who regularly play shit online anyways, it prob shouldn’t matter if no one local plays. Everyone knows how I prefer local over all and how I refused to succumb to almost anything online for a long time. Now im on this hours every night. Social life ruined.
Bottom line, you prob played inferior netcode fgs online regularly and had fun. This is perhaps THE best overall netcode a fg has had. Personally, I don’t give 2 shits whether anyone here plays. I know I’m going to have to travel for this game anyway for tourneys. But actually I don’t, because I can play anyone online faithfully and not rage. But I will end up traveling for it because I still feel fraudulent for putting so much weight on online. FS will be the reason I finally visit NYC or Cali. I’ll just have to make it an actual vacation so my gf will be satisfied too lol.
I feel ya man, this shit just gets in my head. I think I’ll just go with Lei, gonna be rough but fuck it, he looks cool.
Cool deal Sir Flight Michael.
I think I read that you have VF on PS3 though, I’ll prob end up with it on 360. But maybe when GG drops I’ll actually hit up a memphis tourney like I’ve been wanting to since forever ago.
When does Guilty Gear come out?
Sounds like either its not strong enough for increased usage, or its just old. Remember those things are always on, generating heat.
Im going to try and swing through fight night tonight. What system is VF mainly played on?
Been on 360 so far. But Darren there has a stick he can prolly lend you anyway.
