There was some point in the early to mid 90s where all the SWOLE gym bros were rocking fanny packs. I have no idea why it was ever a thing, but I distinctly remember seeing them everywhere for about 2-3 years.
This was also distinctly separate from the 80s trend of fanny packs being Dad purses.
