Television General Discussion

Just finished watching west world ep 1… great stuff onto the next ep!

The Red team were just terrible in Hell’s Kitchen latest dinner service…the switches Ramsay made are interesting.

I started watching The Strain this weekend with my wife. We’re halfway through season S2. Some thoughts:

Spoiler

[list]
[] The Master looks goofy. He looks like a 6-year old trying to draw Thrall from WC3. Both my wife and I laughed when they finally revealed him like “wtf lol”. I’m hoping this whole arc of him needing a new vessel is a direct result of folks laughing at how bad this design is.
[
] This new kid they hired to play Zack in season 2 is horrible. Admittedly, I’ve never liked this kid - I’ve always found him annoying. Thing is though, Zack’s entire personality changed. He went from understanding what the deal is with the vampires, to being this snotty little kid who somehow didn’t realize his mom was most likely a vampire. From the sounds of other posts here, it sounds like he only gets more annoying.
[] “Oh you tryin’ to eat Mexican tonight? You gonna choke!”
[
] The alcohol subplot with Ephraim is getting tedious. Either do something with it or drop it. In general I hate how every show now needs to give the hero/main character this tragic flaw that just ends up making you hate them instead of advancing their personal growth.
[] The scene where dude had the UV light traps rigged up in his office was dope.
[
] The mexican dude is easily my favorite character. Easily. Him and Nora are the only ones that seem 100% human. They react to things the way you would expect them to and don’t have these unrealistic expectations of others.
[*] S1 was way too slow.

It’s a roller coaster ride of good and bad. Trust me you’re going to hate Zack more  we need to start a change.org petition to have him meet a violent death.

Stranger Things—I’ve only seen the 2nd episode… I’m just not into “binge-watching” shows like everyone else, I guess; I watch one then do something else for a while…then I won’t get to the next until days later… (*note–this is of course why I’m so far behind the rest of the world on these netflix shows. I still haven’t even finished watching Jessica Jones)

… it’s still bugging me that everyone just automatically knows the mysterious little kid is a girl… well, everyone but that one guy the cop interviewed in episode 2. I challenge any average person to take a glance at that kid and guess that person is female. This probably applies to most little girls, actually… if the hair is in a buzzcut style, there’s no clear indicators that they are a little girl they are still a bit far off from hitting puberty. This one detail is a small one but it’s just bizarre to me… the dude at the restaurant and now the main kids that took her in and are wondering what to do… they just automatically know even though she has a buzzcut and isn’t exactly wearing a little pink dress? C’mon now.

My old honey Winona Ryder still looks magically delicious. I’d pounce all day every day.

I generally dont binge watch myself.

If a netflix show comes out, I usually watch 2 episodes a night (or 3 if its the end) so I finish them in 6 days.

I find that I appreciate it a bit more with some breathing time.
Since youre waiting 1 year for new episodes as opposed to the 4-5 months with traditional TV, Im not in a super rush lol.

I think the most episodes I’ve watched continuously was the last 6 of Arrow Season 2.

Chappelle’s opening on SNL

Fucking hell.

Westworld legit blowing my mind…

Chapelle on SNL was hella awesome. Chris rock walking into the sketch was perfect.
*edit: for some stupid reason, my post kept getting cut off. fuck mobile.

This has to be plugged as well…very enjoyable SNL.

I hope you guys are still watching WestWorld. Holy shit I did not see that coming, this is good television.

Anthony Hopkins can be scary without even lifting a finger.

I just started watching this after a heavy co-sign from my usually cynical co-worker. 2 eps in and I like it - but I hate when shows with big universes introduce like 30 characters at once very early in the series. Game of Thrones was guilty of this too. This story telling flaw is something anime tends to be good at avoiding.

I’m so glad that I don’t read any Westworld theories or get involved in any of those conversations. That episode was just… whoa.

Anthony Hopkins channeling young Hannibal Lecter in that one scene.
The show is a great mindfuck as it’s meant to be. Jonathan Nolan wants to mess with the audience’s perception of what real and isn’t.

Deckard and all of the other replicants say hi also. LOLOLOL

hello walley…I want to play a game

What happens when you put David Blaine in a room with Drake, Steph Curry and Dave Chappelle?

Apparently Frogs.

I never seen him do it with two contestants though, four in total. He must of started doing this later on in the series. It’s hard to tell which team actually got better by doing this because all of them were crap cooks.

I’m late but damn… anyone catch the finale of The Fall?

Any UK Apprentice fans? Lord Sugar is ruthless, firings were brutal this week

So glad that Gordon got rid of Johnny from Hell’s Kitchen…dude was fail from challenge to dinner service.

Coming into this I thought Johnny had a chance to crack Top 10, boy was I wrong. And Paulie is just on a downward spiral, Ramsey might get rid of him next.
