Tekken x Street Fighter Discussion

This would be the perfect opportunity to give Zangief some chaingrab strings like what Nina and I believe Marduk has. Could be something similar to Darun Mister’s lvl 3 in EX3. That would be pretty cool.

I can imagine his Green Hand having a bound effect for some combo extension. I’d also like to see his myriad of normal throws that he had in SFII be implemented in, maybe one of em can be used for a air throw ender for a juggle.

Wow that Green Hand bound would be sweet. It makes perfect sense.

I’m trying to figure out what his lariat would do. In SF mechanics, it looks like it could be a nice launcher if it weren’t for his recovery lag. In Tekken mechanics, I don’t think that would make sense. It would be a knock away move rather than a launcher move. A horizontal punch shouldn’t launch a character upwards. It would be very vulnerable to lows as well. Hmm…

they could give it a bryan ff+2 effect
EDIT: they could also give him his launch throw from mvc2

I’m really curious if Tekken X SF will be a whole new system or if it will try to sort of be like SFxT where it’s just Tekken with SF characters in it and some gimmicky new mechanics that don’t really adequately emulate the other games mechanics properly (tekken strings / juggles in SFxT aren’t really much like Tekken system from my limited understanding of Tekken mechanics.)

IIRC at one point Harada was saying that there would be an option for SF characters to use 6 button layout or 4button layout so that is interesting.

At the very least I expect this to be a 3D plane game like Tekken but beyond that it could be pretty drastically different from actual tekken games.

One thing I see thrown around a lot is that the SF cast “doesn’t have many moves” and while it’s true that Tekken does have a lot more moves I think the “60+” numbers being thrown around aren’t really accurate. The move list for each character in Tekken is a bit inflated because it includes every followup for a move as it’s own move.

For example Jin has

Mid Thrust

  • to Stature Sweep

Lancer

  • to Stature Sweep

And Stature Sweep on it’s own.
The move lists include that as 5 different moves, but isn’t it really just 3 different moves ultimately? Sort of like saying Ryu’s crMK, fireball, and crMK - Fireball are 3 different moves instead of 2 different moves.

Also tekken lists every button press as a move. Something SF also choose to typically not do. If you included: close attacks, far attacks, crouching attacks, neutral jumping attacks, and forward jumping attacks into Ryu’s “move list” that adds 30 more moves.

That said, the Tekken cast does still typically have more moves than the SF cast. I just think the gap isn’t QUITE as huge as some people seem to think.

Tekken is a string based game and string based games will naturally have more moves since strings are counted as moves. In a normal 2D game, this would be like counting shorter combos as moves. It’s most likely that moving the SF cast to a string based system would result in them gaining more moves as well.

If anything it’ll probably be based on Revolution. Which -I’m not a big fan of Tekken- it looked interesting and very aggressive.

True, I suppose that target combos work similar to that in SF though some of the target combos individual parts aren’t counted as their own move they often are. (For example, Dudley’s crLK-crMP-crHP is target combo 6 but crLK - crMP isn’t considered a move of it’s own. In tekken that would be counted as it’s own move. Likewise for Dudley’s target combo 5 the combo is sMP - sMK - sHP OR F+MK - sMK - sHP. They both are counted as the same move despite having different starters which would be two different moves in SF.

Only Guy’s FULL bushin chain series is considered it’s own move (sLP - sMP - sHP - sHK) if you just do sLP - sMP or sLP - sMP - sHP they aren’t listed as their own moves in move lists.)

I am curious, if Namco does decide to go with a true tekken style game and gives the SF cast all new strings based on common short combos what combos we would see.

Like Ryu - F+HP - HP SRK seems obvious. Ryu crMK - Fireball. Ryu crLP - crLP - sweep. Maybe bring back his sweep - fire ball trap? Fei of course would have the rekka series which maybe could be done with FF2-FF2-FF2 if they go with a 4 button layout exclusively. That’d be kind of cool.

Sakura would have to have sHP - LK Tatsu, that’s been used in almost every version of Sakura.

Cody hopefully would get his old final fight chain series just like Guy has. LP - LP - MP- HP though (1, 1, 2, 1 or maybe option for 1, 1, Back, 2, Forward 1, 1, Back, 2, Forward 1, 1, 2, 1 ?)

Chun I guess would have down 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 for lightning legs.

drag kind of has rekkas with db+2,1,2 and chun legs would prolly be 3~4~3~4~3

Only reason I thought 33333 is because 3 is supposed to be the Left Leg for moves and (assuming Player 1 is how the character is supposed to look) she always does the kicks with her left leg during the lightning legs (unless it’s part of her super then she switches off.)

3~4~3~4~3 would be left right left right left. Even if she used the right leg she always does the LLs with 1 leg by itself.

Honda’s hands would probably be 1,2,1,2,1,2…

I was thinking the rekka input could be similar to Jin’s scrapers (bf+2,1,2) but I think it should be what Eternal said for Fei.
Karin would more likely be the one that has a similar input to Jin since she doesn’t need to do the qcf motion consecutively like Fei.

Hooligan Combination would be a perfect juggle ender for Cammy. Grab them in the air like something similar to Kunimitsu. I could see Cammy having different types of grabs from her HC. She already has two where one could be a high grab and a mid grab. She should have a low grab too. Maybe with a slightly easy to see animation so you can differentiate between it and her slide.

I doubt they would put Honda. They already have Ganryu, wich is pretty much the same thing. I think they would focus on something else.

Cammy im pretty she would work like Nina, because im imaging her having a lot of grapples. Like her U2 and that move where she flies arround and grabs the oponents face. It would be cool if they added her to the game.

This is wishlist-y but fuck it. I just want to see some 3S characters. It would be nice to see them in a game that doesn’t suck for a change (TVC excluded). Alex with chain grabs would be fucking amazing.

im honestly interested to see if it is going to be a 1v1 or 2v2 style of game, and if 2v2 how the tag system would work. whether it would be like tekken tag 2 where tags on bounds cause bounces and you can only tag on specific launchers/moves. or like sfxt where you can tag off of whatever you feel like as long as you have meter. i myself would hope tag 2.

No reason to make this a forced tag team type of title. I also would rather not see Karin make it in. I don’t care if i’m the only one either.

I’m actually hoping it’s a 1v1 game; SFxT was a 2v2 as you had SFIV for your 1v1, but with TT2 still going strong I could see TxSF being a 1v1

Yeah but you’re not forced to use two people in any of the Tag games. Not to continue to dump on SFxT but King still managed to be a favorite in that type of format/engine and i had no one to team him with >_>
