Tekken x Street Fighter Discussion

Probably similar to the EX series

No need to worry, Tekken play all about poking and spacing.

Im really excited for this game and just seeing namco’s interpretation of SF characters. It would be cool if they tried some alpha and sf3 characters too. Can’t wait to see chun li.

When it comes to projectiles in addition to the ideas posted above, another way that projectiles can work is to make them track the opponents position on the stage. For Ryu or guile that might look weird, but for characters like Dhalsim, Rose and Oro it could be alright given the nature of their powers. Maybe Chun too…

But jumping is different in Tekken. You can’t do setups and traps where you use the fireball to bait your opponent to jump in forcing them to eat a DP. Fireballs other main attribute of acting as a setup (for more on this read Seth’s old [2D vs 3D article](2D vs. 3D

keep in mind, namco only knows how to make good games. Tekken, Tales of x, Souls series, Armored Core series, even the dbz games they have made have been above average. I am willing to bet, this may very well be one of the better games of the current generation. tekken has always been good, but now an intelligent interpretation of street fighter? how is this not going to be great?

Projectiles being unblockable would also mean making them slow, to give the defender enough time to react. Which means, nobody would use them, if not in some gimmicky way. There’s no reason for them to be unblockable imo, and implementing them is actually very easy, even for a 3d game.

Take Ryu for example. His cr.mk is a very good low: it’s unreactable, has good range and can cancel into specials. Here’s the idea: every time you do a cr.mk (or any other normal), you have the option to make it safe by cancelling it into a hadouken, and also dealing good damage on hit. This makes it potentially one of the best lows in the game.

However, if the opponent expects it he’s gonna side-step my hadouken, leading to a punish. But if I expect the opponent to do so, instead of cancelling cr.mk into a fireball, I’m gonna cancel it into a tatsu, which catches the opponent’s side-step. The risk is that it’s a high attack, which means that if the opponent blocked my cr.mk, he’s also gonna duck my tatsu (hence my cr.mk is not safe anymore).

In general, fireballs would be used just as any other poking tool. Sure they are dodge-able, but so are 60% of the moves in tekken.

God…if this game is announced at E3, I think I might die.

All I want is Evil Ryu, Viper and Yun to be in. I think the latter two would fit in so well. I’d love to see Namco’s take on dive kicks too.

I have a feeling that characters who have OTG moves in the SF series are going to be very good. UMVC3 has already shown the potential of Akuma and Viper when it comes to OTGs. And we all know how much like can be lost once you’re knocked down in the Tekken series.

Do you guys think there will be just frame inputs for SRK based moves? Imagine Ryu having a safe SRK?!

I think Capcom doesn’t own the rights to Karin, so Harada would probably have to pay a licensing fee to use her. That being said, yes she would fit really well in the system with her juggles, rekka attacks, counters. Everything could be translated very smoothly.

Ingrid would be awesome, Eagle too. I’ve never been big on Sodom. I really would like to see characters that we haven’t seen awhile in the SF universe. Alex (though he was in TvC), Gill, Mika, Oro, etc.

i could honestly see them doing a whole devil jin vs evil ryu angle. dive kicks and fireballs might end up being special mids. also being knocked down in tekken isnt that bad when almost 100% of the time you can take a grounded hit and then get up safely. maybe just frame inputs for certain strings, maybe ryu low forward fireball being db+3,2 NCC with the fireball being -12 on block, -5 on hit, +2 on counterhit, with a just frame for the 2 getting an ex fireball that is a NC +5 on block knockdown on hit/counterhit

You may be onto something there.

Though, Namco was mainly the Publisher of the Souls games. FROM were the main developers.

This should play like Tekken mixed with Street FIghter EX like someone mentioned awhile back.

I expect BIG things from this game, Namco has yet to let me down. TTT2 was great

Not seeing too much wishlist shit. More speculation then anything else. At the very least we can assume there won’t be much in the way of DLC fuckery, gems, or obnoxious neon colors. And we don’t have to deal with some PR dude who never answers a straight question and plays with a Blanka sexdoll.

Please don’t BS this thread, we don’t need any of that here. Either engage in the discussion or leave

i could see gief getting chain grabs, giant swing with 1+2 to get his sf2 normal throw, then a half circle starting from down, down-forward, forward, up-forward, up+3+4 to initiate a jump, then a 360+1+2 to initiate the spinning for the piledriver

I’m sure we won’t get the DLC BS that SFxTK had, especially since Harada is against paid dlc (which explains the free characters, stages, and clothing from TTT2)

I think Oni and Evil Ryu will be in the game. I mean, I’m just saying this because of the first picture of the first post. Besides, it’s too good to not including them.

Speaking of command grabs would Gief’s command grabs follow the tekkenverse rules of grabs where there is grabs that will only grab standing characters, grabs that only grab crouching characters, and ground only grabs?

I think Devil Jin/Evil Ryu will be Jin and Ryu Pandora transformations as opposed to separate characters. They are behind them and the pandora transformations are always behind the actual characters in their renders in SFxTK

Does it matter that much to you that a bunch of “geeks” (you’ve been posting here for 13 years, by the way) are discussing a fighting game that’s going to be released? Hit the “x” and you won’t even have to look at it.

i could only assume so, i could also see gief having really weak mids and really high damage throws (standing, crouching, ground) similar to marduk. maybe also giving gief unique tackle follow ups like dragunov. however it would be interesting to see how green hand is implemented, whether is would be doodoobuttballs on hit/block like it is in sf4, or if it would be something worth using in neutral. although i could really see it as a strong juggle ender considering how much ground it covers

Lol obvious troll

1.We are making speculations, not wishlist

2.Even if someone here made a wishlist, how the hell would that be a burden to you?
