I’m the same thing. My Tekken glory days were in original tag, had every other Tekken since but I could not get into t6. I actually went to the location test at super arcade but they’re asking $1 a play and only 2 rounds a match. It also seems like it plays closely to t6 and I don’t really know anyone I could learn t6 with aside from the fact that Asuka is low tier in that game =\
We got TTT2 at our Arcade, but I haven’t played it yet.
I’ve played a little of Tekken 6, so I know stuff about Tekken… kind of… I dunno, I’m retarded. I was dropped when I was a kid and I think I have aspergers.
Anyways, I wanna learn Steve and Jun.
I wanna learn Jun cause she’s fuckin’ hot, and looks cool. And Steve is a boxer, boxing is cool.
Can someone lead me to the right direction on where I can obtain more info on them.
I wanna learn combos, and watch vids.

Whoa, thanks!
I changed my mind on who I want to use.
I want to use Lars cause he’s an anime character, but I hate anime. Also he’s top tier.
I also want to learn JC cause she’s top tier, and hot!!! OMFG!!
But I still love Steve.
lol…I love using lars, but for some reason after a while his move-set is just mind blowing and I forget some of his moves, and I get serious mad at that…so I stick with Lili cause it seems that her move-set is balanced, and I can remember all her moves, I wonder about her new moves though…hope they aren’t that differ cult **
**
I wanted to play Lars myself, but just… could not get a good “feel” for his moveset. Stuck with Lili and Julia, since I liked Lili in DR and I’ve been playing Julia since 4.
I’m actually going to re-learn Lei in this too - he was my main from T2 all the way til Tekken 5 (Julia slowly became my main), and I actually have an excellent Lei player as a training buddy. I miss playing him at a decent level.
ehhh…I remember to play as julia her moveset is awesome, but lei on the other hand I couldn’t use him as well maybe because his moves seems to be complex to me…I don’t know!!
Alright, I’m confused at all the lingo.
What does iSW mean?
What does SE mean?
What does DE mean?
(looking up Lars stuff, btw).
Is there a wiki that has all the lingo, as well as frame data on the characters for TTT2?
Need to learn my safe block strings.
the lulz
iSW - aka Instant Shining Wizard, ie, his “running throw” inputted at the quickest way avaliable (buffering the running motion, for example).
SE = Silent Entry & DE = Dynamic Entry, both stances from him.
TTT2’s frame data? You can check Avoiding the Puddle for that - most of the stuff is still WIP.
Also, check this and this too for more in-depth stuff regarding terminology and lingo.
On the plus side, Tekken does not focus on “block-strings” (unless you have a specific character who does have strings to force guesses [mid/low mixups, etc] and even that, it is only for the potential mixup). With Lars, you’d be better poking with his solid mids and crushing stuff with launchers/whiff punishing accordingly.
Let’s keep this thread alive! If anyone has doubts, I’ll do my best to help.
Holy fuck at how unfriendly the tekken sites are.
I’m new to the Tekken series, period.
I have others who are in the same boat as me, and damn, people are just throwing info at us like we’re supposed Tekken already.
Wish some of the these things we’re **A LOT more **noob friendly.
Even a player like me who isn’t new to fighting games, checking out Tekken info is such a pain.
That or maybe no one really cares about TTT2, and getting info for it is a pain.
Actually I need to “refresh” my Tekken lingo and knowledge, it’s been a long time since I kept up (08? 09?). In general I’m way out of practice lol.
I can be fairly inconsistent at times (a bajillion things to do :(), but I’ll try to help as well.
I may be in the minority here…but I think the TTT2 demo in Tekken hybrid should have included all the Tekken characters who were in the included movie. It still would have been less than a quarter of the characters from the full game. Would that have really hurt namco so badly?
I know how you feel. Zaibatsu can be a pretty unfriendly place. This is mostly because of the consistent influx of scrubs posting shit and angrying people. But don’t worry - there is a few players (like me and others) who are willingly to help. =)
Outside that, Tekken is one of the FG with the highest learning curve out there. Not regarding execution or anything, but knowing the systems, gameplay elements, and so on - and frames/crushing (what to punish, when, etc).
Don’t be afraid or hesitate to ask help. This goes to anyone out here.
I can very much agree with this.
If Ganny was in Prologue… I’d die a happy man - my two T6 mains and all lulz
yeahh!! I was tremendously furious about TTT2 prologue, the reason for this is that all the characters aren’t in the game only the characters from Blood Vengeance is and I don’t know how to use any of them…I wish Lili was in the movie so I can play as her, and as my main tag team is probably gonna be lars/lili, or Jun/Lili not really sure yet!
Well, I think it’s the perfect time to learn a Mishima xD. Very satisfying, if pulling out an EWGF, but sometimes execution heavy…
Alisa is pretty easy, but she is like a different character in TTT2 now…
I wanted to play Kazuya myself back in T5 but man… I could never EWGF reliably, if at all, an from I was told by most Tekken folk I knew at the time, it was pretty much essential.
Namco purposely changed Alisa - according to them, she was a “boring” character - which is a “bad thing” for viewers at tournament and streams.
At least she’s not Ogre-tier.
I changed my Lars to Dragonuv or whatever his name is.
Any good team combos with Steve and Drag?
You have to hit Zaibatsu’s Drag subforums and ask about his better Tag Assault options and the like.
Otherwise, most of T6’s stuff still apply - you just have to TA post-bound with a follow-up of your choice.
Don’t know too much about Steve, but Dragunovs best TA filler by far is f+4,4,3 IMO. He also has f+2,3 to flip people around during combos when you B! early. (Say if you hit your opponent with a ch df+4 with Lars, B! with ws 2,1~5 and then do f+2,4 with Drag you would have the person being juggled with their face up and feet towards you instead of their feet being away)
Spoiler
Can’t find an example with Lars, but this will have to do.
