not buying this game until someone confirms that online netcode is hella good. Even then, tekken is usually a poverty fighter that dies out within 3 months of its release so I’m still weary.
Don’t know how many times people have said this but…
Tag2 will share the same netcode as SCV…if you feel like SCV has a bad netcode then you wont like it…then again if your playing a fighting game just for the online mode…then…lolz
similar netcode, different games. Different frame-rates. I hope you are right, I’d love to own scrubs in the new tag game.
both run at 60FPS…thats a non-issue at most…it would only theoretically lag during Tag Assaults.
SCV has a larger buffer window.
I can’t wait for this, only a month left to go now.
I’m pretty damn hype. I tried to get into Tekken competitively for the firs time, but… well, it was Tekken 6. I’m looking forward to playing this one, though.
Last few T6BR tourneys and MM’s forthcoming. Manila has Tag 2 U, but I’m not sure if they held any big arcade tourneys yet.
WCG will still use 6BR since it’s through August and September.

So, how do you guys plan on breaking your Combot?
EWGF doesn’t count as breaking it if you can’t properly utilise it. So there are only, like, four players in Brisbane that can do that.
If you ask me, all you need is Lars u/f+3.
We just got a TT2U arcade cab on freeplay where I work. SO FUN. How do I get a Banapassport??
only 4 players in brisbane can ewgf? That can’t be right…
speaking of lars…me thinks he will be overused like sentinel in vanilla mvc3. I know his combos are strong but I dont see the appeal in using him. He’s just too boring to play.
Oh no, you misunderstand. Even I can EWGF. But not many players can *properly utilise *the EWGF. Which is understandable, as the EWGF, along with the rest of the tools of a Mishima, is very hard to master.
As for Lars being boring… well, yeah, he is. Luckily, he’s a fantastic character for beginners (which is why I play him), plus, since it’s a tag team fighter, you can play an interesting character to make up for it!
Or play Miguel because chest hair. Not to mention d/b+1.
now you are just confusing me more with the ambiguity in your statements. Intermediate players can ewgf at will. It becomes a bit more challenging to bust it out consistently for punishing, out of backdash, forward dash, wavedash but still I dont consider ewgf to be hardest thing to master for mishima players. It
s more of a challenge to be able to wavedash and cancel it at will into various mix ups like ws2 cancel consistently.
which brings me to my next point - I think there is a serious problem with tekken being too difficult to play. I was watching a recent tutorial video by level up your game and it seriously got me thinking that tag2 is way too hard for beginners to want to invest their time to want to play. Like seriously, who wants to input bb,n,qcb,bb,qcb,bb over and over again just to move backwards smoothly? Even side stepping input is difficult. You have to press up or down then bring the stick back to neutral and if you botch it you end up jumping. This is why no matter how many interesting characters they put in the game is destined to fail. I remember when I first played virtual fighter and I had the same issue. Moving your character in these games is too difficult and most people are not willing to invest the time to figure out how to do it.
Yeah, that’s fair enough. I suppose I should have rationalised exactly what “properly utilising the EWGF” entailed earlier.
What I mean by “properly utilising the EWGF” is using it beyond just a launcher or punisher. In fact, it includes exactly everything you just mentioned, like utilising it to its full extent in wavedash mixups, using it for spacing, and using it for mindgames by presenting the constant threat of an EWGF to your opponent and scaring them into eating your wavedash mixups, etc.
Well, truthfully, the actual stick motion for a backdash cancel is bb,d/b,n,bb,d/b,n,bb,d/b,n,etc. Depending on how you move the stick, you’ll really only have to do bb,d/b,n,b,d/b,n,b,d/b,n,etc. because the d/b will actually buffer the first b (this is detailed by BlackPriest on Youtube). It can be difficult at first, sure, but you can eventually get the hang of it with enough practice.
Sidestepping, by contrast, is very simple. The input for a sidestep is akin to a short hop from KOF. Just a quick tap on u or d, making sure you go back to neutral.
Tekken is a very difficult game, sure. I mean, even I’ve yet to master it. However, to suggest that it’s “destined to fail” is really just a brash assumption to make because of your own difficulty with grasping the game, and I don’t mean this in an offensive way at all. As I have already said, Tekken is a very difficult game to learn, and equally hard to master. But to be honest, that’s why I love it. It’s a game that rewards you for your knowledge and fundamentals, and at least for me, it’s satisfying to play.
Even so, regardless of whether or not it does well in a competitive sense, TTT2 will still be a huge success for the casual market. The way Tekken is designed means that just about anyone can press buttons and make good things happen.
Good stuff. Shades of Tag 1’s intros.

wtf did I just see ?
I love it - but it started off kind of weird… Does Jinpachi REALLY need to ride in a taxi to get to where he needs to…? I meant he does teleport, does he not? Or is that game play and story segregation again? If fact, the entire video was awesome, yet weird the same time! Ogre popping up out the ground and be CHEERED for… Angel suddenly appearing. LOLZ. Nice to see that Namco has cool sense of humor!
Angel  face = future reaction image macros
You know you’re lazy when you don’t even want to teleport where you’ve got to go.
Love the Tekken series’ sense of humor. XD
He’s a Boss! Why waste his teleport on meaningless tasks when he could just use the Mishima expense account and charge it to his son…or grandson…or great-grandson. =)
So, recent news is stating that the World Tekken Federation (think Call of Duty Elite for Fighters) won’t be a paid service at all. It will be free.
Seriously, can we give Harada knighthood or something? Put him in charge of lesser-ranked Fighters? I can’t keep throwing money at the screen man, it’s getting scratch marks!
