If they’re a lucky chloe player, it’s part of the mind game. The meta is if they make you watch their intro, you make them watch your intro.
Girl we need some, girl we need some action
if we gonna make it like a true survivor!
@ Art
out of curiosity, whats your match count so far in ranked?
arcade version gets some new effects
wonder what we will get with the geese update.
they mentioned rematches but never said its coming with the next patch…so i keep my expectations low.
story costumes got kinda confirmed too to be available in the future in a tweet so that’s something which might be added too?
i think its just nina and djin missing
Around 600+ I think.
Add to that like 400+ player matches and 2400+ quick matches.
I only grinded this many matches in ranked from 1dan till Warrior though.
Ever since I’m in yellow ranks I just grind away in quick matches, more focusing on defense. Whenever I handily beat most people around or above my rank, I go back to ranked and try to gain a promotion, then back to quick matches and training mode.
I’m hella bad tho.
Also this is pc. On PS4 I can’t get past vindicator, as people on console are much stronger on average.
I was hoping for a sale on the season pass on steam but nothing
The game is 50% off though for anyone that would like to get the PC version.
I ran into 2 juggernaut josie players and 1 vanquisher claudio today while trying Bryan, got beaten pretty badly yet those ppl were so fair to give me rematches so I can learn the match ups.
later of today I did ran into those same players again, but I picked my main Paul, beat them all on the first match and none of them gave me a rematch
ye I take the " fair " Ive mentioned above back
First time grinding Ranked in a few months. Difference between Savior and Overlord is massive, it’s like the Savior players I run into have a decent idea, but usually stray back to the same patterns which get them killed, or go for insane risk at the worst of times.
The Overlord players and above are more solid, but still hit you with stuff that’s frustrating. Like this Genbu Leo player was pretty much even with me neutral-wise, but Leo’s corner game is so good it made the difference, high damage 50/50s that put you back in the same situation, thanks to d/f+2+3 and her crouch sweep and her u+3+4 (all are really good moves). Also had moves randomly whiff against her for no reason.
Anyways, seems like I’m a lot sharper after taking a break. Find myself adapting faster, been watching a lot of old school Tekken gameplay, maybe that made the difference. Got both my mains to Overlord, I’ll try for Genbu on the weekend.
Thinking of picking up a Mishima. What are the big differences between the 4’s gameplans?
To generalise it
Kazuya is very dependent on big punishes, his midrange isn’t too good. He’s the defensive Mishima.
Heihachi has a strong mid/low game, can put on more aggression. The rushdown/aggressive Mishima.
D.Jin kinds works as an all-rounder, he has a good punish game, good damage and wall carry, good midrange.
Jin isn’t a Mishima and only resembles the playstyle but probably has the best all-around tools, fantastic midrange, low pushback electric, strong punishes. He just requires a lot of execution to get max damage from a lot of scenarios.
Heihachi: Heavy rush down with throws, mids, and lows to mix it up with. Great control of distance with a wide arsenal of attacks. Has decent block punish options, but much better off on the offensive.
Kazuya: Primarily whiff punish or block punish strings with just 2 decent long distance attacks and basic rushdown mix up between hellsweep, electric uppercut, and flying uppercut.
Jin: Not much of a Mishima. Mostly poke and counter hit punish focused. Even with perfect electric uppercut execution, the best strings are more reliant on mid/hopkick/low mix ups and launchers.
Devil Jin: He is like Kazuya on crack with much more range and a wider arsenal of moves. His punishes are usually the most exciting and easy to execute of the lot.
Man I just got the PC version cause of the steam sale and been playing on my laptop. Probably old news but 4 bar on PC feels better than or equal or PS4 offline to me.
Blocking lows is actually possible , and my lows get blocked much more too.
I’m a vindicator on Ps4 and I got a nice little 7 win streak against a juggernaut and vanquisher player in a 3 room match . Not cause they’re bad, but the speed makes lets me play a lot better.
Master Cup 9
Alright, after messing around with the Mishimas I think Heihachi is my guy. I’ve been looking up a bunch of JDCR videos to steal from/learn faster and I can see myself really liking this character in the future. He has some pretty good customization options too.
EDIT: The first 2 things I’m having trouble with are the timing the hellsweep after ff3 and knowing when to start an electric after another electric.
Holy shit Kagemaru, that comeback was one for the history books.
Kagemaru has to go down as a legend after that one.
yeah that was pretty intense
Legit comebacks are so much more hype than v-trigger trash.
Man I just watched it. Wow. Game is great.
Probably the best part for me:
Even with this, the minor highlights don’t do it justice. A lot of it felt like it wouldn’t work out… but Kagemaru doesn’t let that fly (no pun intended). The whole set of matches was worth the watch/stay up for the stream
For those that couldn’t stay up/had plans, here’s the top 8 on Youtube:

Man, Tekken is frustrating. I’m sitting here trying to learn Heihachi, but I can’t use him on pad and since I’m too lazy to switch to my stick but still want to play Tekken I start trying out Steve and Yoshi and now I want to learn them too. What’s the opposite of a character crisis?
