TEKKEN 7 | Lounge

I used to be able to play sf on keyboard…but how do you guys use the hitbox when the up or jump button is in a different position?

I tried doing electrics and movement on the keyboard when I tried out tekken on PC and it did not go well…but I believe people who say hitbox is easier.

That’s a serious mindfuck I wonder about myself. But I’m sure it’s not too hard to get used to. Gotta accept screwing up a lot in the beginning.

My god, why are these things so bloody expensive?

Yeah, the up-input is the big challenge. You just gotta get used to it mentally.
I did play SFIV and SFA2 on keyboard for a period of time, and used the spacebar as up in those games too, so it’s not that bad. I had to think of it as a jump button rather than a direction though, so it might be slightly different in Tekken. Looking forward to seeing how that works out.

As for all other inputs, like I said, I think it’s just straight-up easier on hitbox / keyboard. It’s a lot easier to be both fast and have clean inputs than pad / stick.

This is also the second time I’m changing controller in this game, having played it for roughly two months. I anticipate that in a month I’ll be preaching the good word of playing Tekken on Guitar Hero peripherals.

Elaborate on how it makes things worse?
Stretching is a good idea though, I should probably do that more.

edit:
pekos streaming on KAOTV btw

Old post I know… But I feel the opposite after trying both as far as gimmicks and ease of learning.

As for keyboards and hitboxes and the need of stretching your hands before use… I used to be a hardcore stepmania player and never had problems with my hands. You probably just have weak hands and were bound to get early onset carpel tunnel from normal computer use.

Anyone knows if Eliza is part of the season pass? Don’t want to buy her now and then realize she would’ve been in the season pass anyways.

Also I love this game!

First game where I found some really cheap shit in practice mode by myself.
Paul’s df+1,b is a frametrap machine. You’re +3 on block and have access to all backsway moves. Since backsway moves are 15 frames and more on startup, you can beat it with 1, right? Wrong! If somebody stops respecting your df+1 you just go f+4 for an effective 9 frame magic 4 for a counterhit into full combo. If they start ducking that shit go shredder kicks.

That gives Paul very strong pressure up close that can set up Demolition Man and Phoenix Smasher.
Damn that character is so much fun.

at this point she is not part of the season pass.
so you have to purchase her seperately no matter if you own the pass or not.

ps: free drums for everyone…i like the hit/block sound effects.

I’m on PC now as well, if anyone wants to play on PS4 and PC please leave your PSN/SteamID here or PM me. EU for PS4, I might even play East Coast players on PC because connection overall seems kinda better. I can mash with quite a few characters at basic level. :woot:

Character match-ups do exist, but not as abundant as 2D games. Eddy and Ling are prime examples, heck, Speed picked Jack against PLing at DreamHack. If you are wondering why, watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUuruRvS-Hc

Then there is more stuff about shutting down different tools or making them very risky like playing a character like Jinpachi vs Jack or Bruce who can launch Jack df2 and both damaging options out of CD for Bruce. This goes the other way around too, like you can do -14 moves vs Steve without much risk or doing a -11 low and -17 low against him means pretty much the same. Not saying it’s strictly “counter pick” stuff, just that you can approach match-ups differently in Tekken. Law can afford to throw out random d23 more against Steve, Heihachi and Paul can get away with ff2 and deathfist against characters who struggle to punish it, Drag d2 becomes way more riskier against characters like Kaz/Josie, you can pressure and hit Kuma with a lot of moves that other characters will just step and punish etc. etc.

Claudio is good vs Ling because he does to her what she does to many others, limit the moveset.

EDIT:

Also I think Paul is hella good in this game, much more annoying and harder to get around in general. Pre-evo WNF with Koreans is here, not official LU channel, but you can go the stream archive through link in description if you prefer watching it on their channel or twitch instead:

Sure thing. Search for Naeras on Steam.
I’m not particularly good, and my arm might be out of commission for the next week, but I’m always up for playing more people.

PC patch came out:

Tekken 7 – July 28th update – Patch Notes
The changes include:

  • The black color for customization is now set to true black again and the issues with some character’s alternate costumes are fixed.
  • Improved matchmaking timing in all online modes.
  • Player’s information including character, wins, grade and title are no longer displayed during matchmaking
  • Removed Match Lists following the improvement in matchmaking.
  • Improved menu and navigation in Player Match. The change notably allow players to leave sessions more easily.
  • Lifted the restriction on revenge matches in Ranked Match, to enables unlimited revenge matches.
  • Fixed a revenge match related issue where the opponent’s name could change upon having revenge matches.

PC patch is the shit.
Fuck PS4 again!

Did they improve loading times aswell? Seems like you get much faster into matches on ranked. Unlimited revenge matches are so much fun, no need to play unranked anymore. If they keep up the pace of those fixes and improvements…

Loading times are still ass as far as I can tell. Huge difference having unlimited revenge matches though.
Finally makes sense playing ranked to learn the game.

I’m still baffled by hoe shit the PS4 version turned out to be, especially since it’s the tournament standard version

are there any big issues beside of the loading time?

i am glad we are on the same stand now as the ps4 version but i hope they continue to improve things.
not even talking about big stuff but being able to rematch directly in a 1v1 lobby
and while doing the rematch skipping the vs screen part which appears every time.
i mean you are synced and the stage/chars are loaded, i doubt that the vs screen is really necessary after the first time.

a little country icon on the player info board would be great too. that way i could filter certain countrys out by myself
which i know the connection will be bad no matter what the bars say.

I suck at fighting games and usually don’t even notice input delay, but when I switch from PC to PS4, every button press feels very delayed. Now that may or may not be due to my big television, but I don’t have that problem with other multiplatform games.

I mean a few frames of delay are not a big problem in Tekken, but shit like blocking obvious lows in time and confirming magic 4s are some real reaction shit I don’t want to deal with on PS4 if PC is so much better.

so it really was just that one controller fix and no general input delay fix to be on pair with the pc version back then with the patch?
okay…that sucks…

So Eliza dropped for all of us who didn’t get the pre-order, what’s everyone’s thoughts on her?

Kind of surprised a character with a 10 frame punish into juggle and a safer fireball than Akuma’s isn’t being used more, is she missing something vital I don’t know about or something?

I just know her divekick is a nightmare. If you sidestep that shit your df+2 whiffs.
Haven’t had much time to explore punishing her bullshit properly though.

Supposedly she’s really unsafe on most of her stuff. Same issue Akuma has. Makes it difficult to be consistent with her.

Her fireball is also a lot easier to get around than Akuma’s. Or, to be precise, a lot easier to get over. Kazuya can CD3 over it on reaction for example, I assume quite a few other characters can do the same thing.

She has a lot of the same strengths of Akuma though, i10 launch and low into safe-ish fireball included. Problem is, she shares his weaknesses as well.

i like the new patch so far. being able to do more than two matches in ranked is a welcome change.
people decline there still more than in playermatches but you can get some sets together in a session.

i hope they continue to improve the game.
