Tekken 6 Tier List?

You guys talking about Deebo?

LOL.

I rarely say anything directly mean against another person, but I will have to say that guy is pretty embarrassing to say the least. I mean, the story behind TN basically was:

 1. Tekken player from gamefaqs decides to start a forum
 2. Said Tekken player hypes up T6
 3. Said Tekken player gets beat down in T6
 4. Said Tekken player now whines that T6 is no longer his favorite game

facepalm just comes to mind all the time.

Tier lists allow new players to make more informed decisions on what character they choose, as well as provide a basis for discussion of balance, as well as sometimes even give Developers something to base balancing on in the sequel.

no, they dont matter at all. problem is, people will rock a tier hard, and get use to the freeness of it, and get lazy with their overall skills. there are thousands of people that picked up sf4, played top tiers, and they are still no where top tier level as a player. they took the free route, and its still not working out for them. tier list only matter as a pissing competition. i vividly remember when tetsuo’s lei came into the general tekken populations consciousness in a major way with dr. then all of a sudden you see lei bandwagon bums that think lei is top tier, and fun, but its just that tetsuo is that fucking good.

naturally if youre a part of the community you will find out who is best, but unless you playin a certain game to pay the rent, or your on some ego trip where you need to win, tier list dont matter, and the latter still dont make it matter. learn the game, learn what you can do, learn what you cant do, and we just gotta hold dem losses to heart baby, even when they are not deserved in these newer games. thats it. newcomers need to find their way like everyone else, and its better that they pick who they feel comfortable with overall, then anything else. like dude who might be here, that hit me up on xbox live for some games during a stream. talking bout, watch out, bob is mad safe. nigga what!? lol. did that shit in with feng on lag something serious, and it would have been worse without. sorry son, if you readin this, but just because a character is theoretically safe, doesnt mean its free wins. steve is theoretically probably the safest character in the game because of duck canceling, and he is tops for many other reasons, including that, but it still doesnt equal free wins. you still gotta get in, you still gotta walk it out, you still gotta break throws, you still gotta have excellent execution, you still gotta have good reaction to lows.

tier list especially in tekken are just a pissing contest. they teach scrubbery. people just gonna jump the train, learn some basics to maybe intermediates, but get so comfortable getting away with bullshit, that when they meet someone who aint having that, they lose in a big way. i remember my tekken matches trying to get better. i felt good about wins i took, and then when niggaz said fuck him, i aint respecting his game, and played me like a scrub, i got my ass beat because my fundamentals were weak, and i was just playing off the characters strengths, and they were just giving me some type of respect because i would definitely dial up combo that ass when i had a chance. when they disrespected my game and went hard, i was like, um, break throw, block low, um, what, wait, damn, im dead.

I was considering using a Vega/Sakura mix for SFIV.
I was much better off using Ryu and Balrog as I learned the hard way, the Tier list of SFIV just showed off the obvious, you’ll win more against the same people if you play the higher-tier character assuming you’re just as good at them as you were with the lower-tier.

People using Top-tier and thinking that will instantly make them win is a good thing, they sound like idiots we don’t really want to be around, they’ll learn that Tiers don’t matter as much as they think, get smarter, get better, and/or choose a character they want that can actually put up a fight (Which, again, they’ll find out earlier by looking at tier lists) and be much better off for it.
Then bam, they aren’t as stupid.

Unless they’re playing Marvel, then none of that applies.

Not to start an argument jimmy, but DR Lei while he definitely isn’t top tier he is definitely solid, far more so than most people gave him credit for, only really a small step down from his Tekken Tag iteration, and definitely way better off than he was in T4 or T5, Tetsuo is crazy good, but your post made it sound a bit more like he was dominating with a useless trash character. Other than that point I heartily agree with everything else posted, top tier doesn’t make top player.

On the flip side BemaniAK, against strong players you may have a harder battle if you’re using top tiers, simply because better players already know their matchups vs top tier, and there is always the possibility of that unknown factor with low tier characters, as they aren’t as popular.

yeah, didnt mean to make it sound like lei was trash, but he wasnt s or a class. i think he fell into the b class with a majority of the cast. point being, besides lei being a pain in the ass for a noob to learn, he definitely wasnt considered much of a big threat. the american lei’s in my opinion were not that good, and then i just vividly remember tetsuo beasting hard with lei, and people like, “wtf, lei? i gotta play him and learn ha ha step”. lol. tetsuo took a solid b class character, and made that bitch look a, combining excellent mixups, master level knowledge of his character, good movement and spacing, and just an overall top level of game play.

bs bs bs bs. ive mained vega in every sf hes been in and in 4 i rape with him. period.

wasnt laughing, pretty boring read imo but you are right, that website is utterly low tier.

Dear christ that tekken nation site is sad. It is all about fan fiction and bullshit like that. I read through the first couple pages of that couples thread and wanted to off myself. I also found this post:

“LeexLars would be hot. But it’s sorta wrong due to their distant relationship even though they aren’t blood relatives.”

and

"I like some lovey dovey pics. Like of LilixAsuke…BUT only if they’re cuddling or…hugging really close.
I ain’t in to yuri.
And I can handle some JinxXiao. It’s cute and all but…
I’ve grown on JinxHwo, and KazuxLee alot more. Yaoi! Yum! But not so much of it. "

And if you were as good with someone else as you were with him you’d win more against the same opponents.

Like I said I learned the hard way, a LAN tournament I went to had some decent players in the top matches, I came third.
I started using Ryu.
Next month, same LAN, same players, using Ryu, I win and nab the meagre AU$50 prize.

Fools.

once again bs, i have picked up top tiers in SF games before and had the exact same results, in 4 i picked up sagat and had roughly the same results as before at local tournys.

just trust me on this one play style meshing with a character is much more important then then tiers.

Obviously because you aren’t as good at Sagat as other characters.
I liked Ryu’s style just as much as Vega’s, learned all his nuances much like Vega and ultimately decided to go with my High tier characters for the tournament and it paid off.
Near-instant move that juggles into Ultra with 2 EX meter is something that Vega just wished he had.

I mean, Sagat alone won about twice as many non-local tournaments as Ryu did in a list I believe was published by a magazine in Japan (Can’t remember which one exactly) you can’t just brush off tier lists when something like that happens.

While Tier lists are much more negligible in Tekken 6 (When most of them are merely about the speed of more powerful moves, it usually is very balanced) they always mean something aren’t just made out of thin air with no reasoning, and can provide discussion on how balanced the game is (Or people whining about a list that doesn’t affect them in any way if they choose to believe it doesn’t mean anything)

i mentioned it, and my bad, but end this shit about talking about sf4 tiers, because they in no way at all apply to tekken. all sf4 players really need to play tekken and call it a wrap until ssf4, but they scrubs, so they need to do what they can to catch up to people who dont even really play fighting games, and can still beat that ass.

you can pick anyone in tekken, and if you put in work, can still be a formidable opponent. more so then putting in work in sf4 with a lower tier. bound and rage aside, you can still play anyone you want in tekken 6, and do work. it has its issues, and i aint gonna rant bout that again, but sf4 talk, dead that shit. its buns, and dont matter here. we all know that game is ass, and people only play it still because its a money getter for the win, they wanna get sponsorships, , its the thing to play to beat up on scrubs on, or they dont wanna learn another fighter. minus a couple ect… sf4 talk is done here. i aint not mod, but that shit is not comparable, and sf and tekken never have been.

if someone really had the time to do it, they could top 8 with panda at evo next year. the game has its bullshit, but tekken still allows such a thing to happen. problem is, we assume limits to the game listening to veteran players who we assume are playing all the time with no life, and theyre not. most vets just have way better fundamentals then a couple thousand noobs, thats why they can learn something quick, put in little time, and still wreck heads. tvc is a prime example. the dudes downing the game, some of your leaders of the community, were really not putting in the time to the game, because by the time sbo rolled around, karas/ryu was not the only bullshit ass team, and there were far worse, especially with hnk like glitches not band.

our top players in america can be your idols, but really, to be honest, dont idolize them. from what they say, and from even what i have seen, a lot of top players dont put in as much work as you think. im pretty good at tekken offline, and i have put in my work, and to a scrub or intermediate i might seem god like, but im just transferring skills and betting on the lack of dedication for most players. my dedication years out weigh weak sauce shit from noobs, easy. not shit talking, but it does. everyone gotta creep on a come up. you dedication defines if it takes a month, a year, 2 weeks, ect…

addressing the above again. you can learn and appreciate good play, but let your ego go. no one is better then you. wait. barf. im drunk. ugh

Ahh, so back to looking at potential top tiers, Alisa was mentioned for her strong backdash cancel and whiff punish abilities (see Korean list). But what about Lili, above average sidestep, decent punish game, good lows, buff damage and what appears to be a surprisingly good, back turn mixup game. Check it out.

The reason people play a certain game is usually more cosmetic regardless of skill level, because the bottom line is how fun they think the actual fighting is.
And SF compared to Tekken, it’s damn easy to see why people would prefer to play SF or why people would prefer to play Tekken.
As long as they’ve tried to play Tekken and disliked it for a reason other than “Durr juggling” “Durr mashing” “Durr impossible to do anything when you’re cornered” or something like that, they’re all good.

But yes, back on track.
Alisa, Top Tier, why, punish cancel dash oki etc.

Lili, IMHO, actually needs some damage nerfing.

She deals more damage than Bob off a non-CH move ffs. And she’s skinny.

She seems like a fairly interesting character to play, considering her options, going slightly offtrack, what colour is the Bob in your avatar using XL, looks like black?

lili just needs to have some sort of difficulty added to her moves… seriously my little sister can play as her and whip out combos for half health.

Lili is indeed dumb. Stupid dmg, stupid oki, safe launchers, good lows, retarded hopkick, good wall carry, you name it…
