TEKKEN 6 Bloodline Rebellion Thread - PS3/XBOX 360 Oct. 27, PSP Nov. 3

Does anyone think this game is past its prime and needs to be put out to pasture?

throws are a good tool to put pressure on your opponents… especially if your character have a 10f throw, it’ll absolutely help against turtles.

Hell no…you just need to go find another game.

Yeah, if any game series has past its prime, it’s you-know-what.

Hint: Fatalities.

MK probably too.

Don’t mistake Tekken’s throw system for SC4’s. It isn’t 50/50 guessing game as there are three throw breaks and you are only allowed to input one of them. Any TE input after first one will not be registered. So, guessing only have a 33% chance of breaking a throw; which isn’t higher than registering 2 TEs (usually) in VF5. However, escaping a throw in Tekken is completely reaction-based and escaping every throw on reaction is one of the harder aspects of Tekken to master (as doing 3/4 TEs in an ETEG).

You can use challenger.jp for higher quality matches but loading a video would take more time than YouTube, here are some of them:

Gametrailers also has some high def matches, but I think they’re mostly older ones.

I’ve just seen a fight from Gessendou. I swear Alissa is busted as fuck. That girl does some monster damage when she gets started up. And Lars, good God. That batman-esqe slide needs to actually trip up someone then it’ll be all gravy.

Got to play today, Alisa is <3 +++++++!

Definitely going to sit down and do my best to get better at it, game is pure crack.

Anybody know if Jin still has his white tshirt costume from 6 that made him look super-huge? (seriously, Namco…if you’re skip a game and port the upgrade to said game to home systems, make sure you include the basic game’s costumes as well as the upgrade’s)

You. Get the fuck off srk and never come back. Go back to the nintendo forums you faggot.

re: throw argument

any true turtle with enough basic skill will learn what the arms look like for standard throws, from that point it’s just a matter of learning what special throws certain characters have, and what animations they are.
there’s a lot of JPN players that I’ve played that are literally unthrowable. like “you better interrupt my moves with throws” unthrowable.

realistically there’s 3 schools of thought for throw breaking
1- learn the hands and have good reaction skills
2- go off experience and intuition, as people all have patterns and reasons for doing certain things at certain times
3- throws are cheap

good people usually should be in between 1 and 2

IMO should only be 1, only exception are throws which have different hand animation than their breaks suggest (i.e. giant swing looks like a 1+2 break but it’s a 1 in which case you would probably hit 1 if king throws you with his back at the wall)

GS animation is actually unique and still kinda looks like a long left throw, if you could believe that. lol But yeah, it SHOULD be 1, but thanks to that King example, there’s plenty of 2 going on.
The ideal is a mix of 1 and 2, imo.

Up clear up the throw discussion.

Kaneda no. GS looks just like a 1+2. It has no special animation. Also it has a smaller break window 8 frames. There are a few throws like this. Some ones that come to mind, Gaint Swing, Shinning Wizard, Mad Axes, End of Dreams, COM, ext. When it comes to King because GS not only can looks like a 1+2, it throws in the air, and it can be buffered into anything King gains some ridiculous situations for Mix up. From dashing you can mix up between iSW and iGS, crouch iGS Rock Bottom, anything where you can make them stand still for a second GS or Muscle buster. It goes further than that too. King’s got moves like b+1+2 which has 4 different breaks off of it which are impossible to see. Not to mention chain throws which all look like 1+2 but are either 1 or 2. He has a lot of throw shit that makes him ridiculous.

About throws in general. You’re right that at high level play they become less useful but not useless for characters. You’ll find that it gives you opponent something to think about even if they do break almost all of them on reaction. Also it’s about the respositioning after the throw too. Many throws give advantagous positions after break. Both Jin’s 2 throws gives +frames if broken and repositions the opponent. King’s GS when broken forces the opponent away allowing King to get himself out of a corner, Heihachi’s 2 throw puts you and your opponent at even frames back to back and trades positon. Also there is a saying in Tekken. You can’t break em all. And it’s true. You can’t. Even if you can see the hands and break throws 90% of the time, there will be one or two times during a set where you were a frame too slow on that break or you tried to anticipate rather than see. Pressure can make it happen too.

So yeah in the end throws are still a very important part of Tekken even at high level.

One good thing about Tekken’s throw-system is, throws aren’t out-prioritised by attacks in the execution phase. They can actually interrupt attacks such as EWGF and JFSR, it usually make it impossible to break a throw if player was thrown during an attack.

I thought Julia’s MA has shorter break-window, no? I still think that break-window should be reduced for generic ‘1+3’ and ‘2+4’ throws, especially for tracking throws since those have slower start-up and comparatively obvious animation.

Bilal, I still see many people not escaping throws so I think it should be as it is. I agree with your first paragraph though.

Everything else was pretty spot on, but this is incorrect(at least for DR). I know for a fact MA has an unique animation is completely different from her df+1+2(or Paul,s f,f+1+2, Lili’s df+1+2, Feng’s df+1+2, or any standard 1+2 break), plus it has a smaller execution window because of the animation difference. I do believe that the MA break window has been made longer in BR though, so maybe they changed the animation…?

i can’t wait for this to get back into Tekken =)
