TEKKEN 6 Bloodline Rebellion Thread - PS3/XBOX 360 Oct. 27, PSP Nov. 3

So Namco Bandai finally realise that they’d make alot more money States side if they multi-released it. Just gotta wonder how much they’d add/take away with the disc format difference.

And this coming from a guy who doesn’t have a 360

If character balancing took a year then their staff should be fired. It’s an update to a game that’s basically an update to the previous game. Tekken 6 BR is a decent upgrade from tekken 5, nobody doubts that, but it’s not some complete overhaul of new gameplay and mechanics like KOF XII or something. Tekken 6 was decently balanced as is, so balancing an update to keep the two new characters in line with the rest of the cast is fairly easy.

I agree, there’s going to be alot of accessories, but BR is ALREADY OUT being tested, and we still have to wait another complete YEAR for it’s release? FUCK accessories, I don’t care if the Asuka has slightly more red or more violet hair, she’s still a bitch, and she should be knocked out by MARCH, not fall next year. Another feature that is already implemented and would NOT take another 365 days to finish.

Barely updating the graphics is fine, but would not take a year to do. period. I know freshman at art institutes that would pump out better renders in 11 hours. Not a giant upgrade. Something is better than nothing, agreed, but T6 looked fine, so whatever. Wouldn’t take longer than a few weeks on the character models, and the new stages are already done, minor upgrades are just that, minor.

Computer AI’s? You just have the testers and staff make ghosts. There’s plenty of AI from the original T6.

They don’t have to “make” two new characters, they are already made and playable.

Everything available for arcade testing is done. Console conversion, testing and release taking over a year is just a bit much. Early summer would have been more reasonable. If it produces a gem of a fighting game, that’s great, I’m not complaining about quality. However, I’d rather have T7 announced in fall 2009 than have to wait another year just to play online.

And I would love to direct my own fighting game, it’s not as “hard” as you think it is, though the process from beginning to end IS lengthy. Keep it in your head that this is just an update, and not a full sequel.

But to be redundant, if it produces a gem, then great; but waiting that long is still ridiculous.

Maybe they’re doing the same thing that they do with every arcade game, and just taking their sweet ass time before releasing it on console? They might have it done way earlier than its scheduled to release, but they’re prolly not in a hurry to release it.

8 months from when the upgrade is released to when console is released, now that i think about it, is actually a bit longer than average. Average is what, 5 months? 6 months? I’ll give you that, but there could be other reasons that we don’t know about.

Heck, they could be spending 3 months alone making a story mode, then translating it all to english for all we know.

If the extra year is justifiable, then let them take their time.

I have plenty of other fighters I can play for the time being.

Great news for me BTW. Don’t have to buy a PS3 now.

i said it WILL be on 360

Ki Shima is SRK’s Nostradamus, act like ya’ll know

theyve been busy making soul calibur 4, course it will take a year, tekken console games extra content grow with each installment, look at tekken 5 it had the arcade versions of all the tekkens (except 4) AND the devil within thingy amongst other stuff

I know how you feel, if the 360 gets littlebig planet, blue blaze, arcana 2 and bloody bride its over for the ps3.

You seem to forget the character balancing that occurred between November 2007 and March 2008. And even then there was still fixing to do.

If the game isn’t out on the streets yet getting loc tested then any testing they do now is moot. In house tests are for game stopping crashes. BR should be in public release by the end of the year, add another 3 months for finalized patches, then they can get it ready from that point. Using that timeline early Fall sounds about right.

You know freshmen at art institutes that can pump out fully working stages with all the intricacies that the current ones have that are also bug-free in half a day? Adding stuff means making sure the old stuff works too. That takes time.

Which won’t work anymore if they rebalance the game, add more moves, change move properties, and don’t want stale ghosts.

I remember Steve and Marduk at certain betas and pre-betas having completely different shit than the final product. That’s just the more famous examples.

Wrong.

I’d rather they take their time so people won’t complain about missing content and bugs.

DR was an update as well. How long did that take again? And how long did it take to reach consoles?

We’ve waited longer.

Project Soul is it’s own team within Namco Bandai. I’m sure the people who make Tekken are their own team as well so I don’t think this applies.

oh ok, i thought some of project soul would be makers of tekken also, i remember there was an interview where namco mention they were busy making soul calibur and tekken so it would be after these two were made that they might make another DBZ game. which makes me think that key members of the group were making these games together

Where did you read that. I suppose they’d use storage space as an excuse to keep back a lot of the arcade customization as DLC.

i have a feeling they will be giving A LOT of stuff with the game, like free DLC. that would be the best move to make tekken popular again for casual gamers

My ps3 is officially worthless

That’s not true…

You still have BluRay…and maybe MGS 4 (heard that announcement will be coming real soon)

And you still have GT5!!!

SC4’s example and what i’ve heard about various other Namco games makes me think otherwise.

So everyone who doesn’t live in a major city with their fancy-shmancy arcades have to have to wait another year before they can play Tekken 6 on a regular basis, right?

I didn’t care about T6 going multi-platform, but having to wait another year? arg

When does the jpn ps3 version come out?

So…why is everyone so pissed off that BR is coming for the 360? I don’t understand it.

-“Cause Namco promised me that it would be exclusive!!!” No they didn’t. And even if they did, the economy just won’t allow things to stay that way anymore. If I could make more money selling something to a new userbase I would do it…and you would too. Fuck the haters. And besides you’re still getting the damn game. The only thing hurt here is fanboy pride. If you brought a PS3 just for Tekken, I really think you brought it for the wrong reason IMO.

-“Cause it’s gonna take extra time for them to port it to 360 for a dual release!!” Probably, but even if that wasn’t the case you still wouldn’t be getting BR till maybe July anyway since Namco has to make their money back. Hell, I originally predicted April for a BR release, but I remembered what happened when PS2 T5 was released and how pissed off arcade owners were that it came out 4 months after release. Namco can’t afford to burn that bridge again.

-“Cause it just don’t feel right on 360!” Who gives a shit? Let’s be real, if you’re a Tekken fan you already got a PS3, which is a solid system in its own right. So why do you care if Tekken ‘feels right’ or not? You aren’t going to play it on that system, and it’s commonsense that tourneys will still be held on the Sony platforms. 360 controller is fucked up? Buy a stick. Don’t play stick? I’m sure there are PS2/PS3 converters out there for it.

Besides, people who have never owned a PS2/3 system but are interested in the game can finally check it out, and increase it’s popularity and fan base. What’s wrong with that?

Sorry for ranting, but I just don’t understand this shit. I would’ve posted this on TZ, but you guys seem less idiotic right now.

…However, I will say that waiting a year will effectively kill the Tekken community in the U.S. Namco should throw us a bone and update DRO, either improve the online code, or create a tag mode for it(or both). Keep the scene alive while they work on BR…

I think the whole root of hate for games going from Sony to 360 is this:
It’s Sony who’s losing the exclusives. Before it’s Sony that had what you wanted and this gen with Sony they are lacking what made them the console to have like before. You still get your games but now everyone has what made Sony great. It’s like this. If you were the best at football and then people just started doing training that places the opposition instantly on your level you lose your edge. What makes you so special.

That being said I’ll start playing Tekken again in 8 months.

This.

That’s very true, but I think a large part of why there were so many exclusives back in the day was technology, install base. These days, those factors and the gap between the 360 and PS3 is really small while the cost of production is really high, so exclusives are gonna be few and far between.

Futhermore, if the opposition has been special for so long, you’re going to have to step your game up to compete. Microsoft has been doing that for awhile, and with 3rd parties recognizing that exclusives aren’t a viable option anymore Sony is really going to work their first/second party team that much more…and alot of fans need to realize that those teams are what is going to make or break the systems and stop being pissed off when third party titles jump ship.

Thanks for the civil response!
