TEKKEN 6 Bloodline Rebellion Thread - PS3/XBOX 360 Oct. 27, PSP Nov. 3

Anyone wanna tell me what time next week’s LUYG tourny is going to start? Definitely have time to go there now.

Miguel in general…is :lovin:

Can you imagine Miguel in Tag’s system? Savage Stance would be too much.

YES HOMO FOR MIGUEL

8/8 Super/Vid 94 Singles & also 5v5 SD Tekken Vs Socal get hype!
Start time will depend on sd all being there so show up early for practice try 12pm old school and new school all there to teach and learn.

Oh shit thanks a lot!

After stroking the BR poosnay twice at E3 and AX 09, I’m having withdrawals lol. Tita/Clobbersaurus will come along as well to re-learn Xiaoyu, hopefully Yukio will be there to teach her

GM went to Devastation.

So what are your guys thoughts on Bryan without taunt in BR? There was a good thread at TZ by Naps for DR about winning with Bryan without taunt. Not so much taunt at the wall because that’s necessary and is easy to buffer. But “mid”-stage?

Obviously 3+4 is no longer abusable, d/f+1 series is better, and d/f+2, 1 and qcb+3 are new.

Jabs (1, 4) quick highs
d/b+3
b+1
f, b+2
qcb+4 random bs move
u+4 random bs move

Are all carried over right (meaning still good)? Anything else of note pad players should know? Is he still basically just a turtle without taunt?

I used to play Bob back in the day, but I’ve never been a fan of characters who need to switch stances. I’ve always like my more straightforward characters (I main Ryu in SFIV, and by “main” I mean “only play as”). I’m looking to pick up a new character in T6:BR, and had considered Lee Chaolan, but I’ve heard that he’s quite hard to play, and needs particularly good execution. I’ll probably use him as a secondary character even if this is the case, but I’d like to main somebody a little simpler. My understanding is that Kazuya is also quite demanding to play as. I’ve also considered Bryan and Paul. Basically, I’m looking for a fairly straightforward character to use, who can compete fairly well even though I may not have dedicated huge amounts of time to them.

A question for you Tekkenites, if you would indulge a noob!

I really believe in learning basics and upkeeping a good foundation before attempting advanced maneuvers/characters. (in my experience, if you pick a character too advanced for you when new, your basics are going to be weak because you focus on other tactics, and when you try to fix your habits they’re hard to break.)

So. I’m basically looking for simple characters. Easy to learn, so that you can apply spacing, whiff punishment, etc. and not worry about other things.

I’m an ex-Soul Calibur player, if it helps- when I started on trying to learn “basics”, I picked Mitsurugi. (It may have been better for me to pick Sophitia, but I wouldn’t know that now.)

I’ve heard Feng, and Paul, and someone really recommended to me Jack. Any thoughts?

Bruce or Paul then.

Lars isn’t particularly execution heavy either, but you need to know your overall Tekken a tiny bit more (he’s like a nerfed Bryan basically), as he’s mainly a space/punish character.

Menthol:

I’m surprised you’re asking. Everyone on TZ pretty much agrees that Bryan’s top tier anyway. You don’t really have to worry about Bryan at all. b+1 was nerfed a tiny bit, but as a + frame tracking move, it’s still one of the best in the game. qcb+4 still works wonders.

Bryan sans taunt? Yeah. Definitely do-able, but your wall game will be weaker fo sho.

You play Mitsu? Feng and Paul are perfect then. Law too.

Jack is… dare I say, like a big Cervantes? He doesn’t play like Asta for sure.

So it is true that Lee requires a high degree of execution to use?

Cheers XL. I considered Lars, but I haven’t really looked into how he plays all that much. Maybe I’ll try him out.

Ha, it’s crazy that we both posted the same sort of question just now. Drake said it best, in that it’s really better to master a simpler character than flounder with an advanced character.

Bryan is basically a turtle, right? How do you go about playing Paul? I’ve dabbled with him years ago, but I may as well be coming back to the game fresh. And how do you use Kazuya, on a basic level? He’s a punisher, yeah? I feel like a complete '09er, but I haven’t touched the series since Bob in T3.

Ah, OK. Thanks.

Tekken is a different game, so I wouldn’t know- how much do 50/50 mixups factor into gameplay?

Apparently Paul’s Demolition Man is quite similar to Mitsurugi’s 2KB (Stalk Reaper), but… Demolition Man isn’t all Paul has, right? (e.g. Mitsu had two stances as well, and was still viable at high levels of play.)

If you want a character who can compete but doesn’t require the massive amount of dedication to learn, look no further than Feng…

Hm…

Well, I wouldn’t want the character to be too powerful… laziness on my part would show itself through my (eventual lack of) basics, and defeat the point of my character choice… much like how the only two Hilde players winning tournaments are the ones who belong there (because they actually know how to play)…

But if you’re just saying he’s remarkably solid without too many tricks, then that’s cool.

He’s got the tools for every situation, without the serious execution requirements of a lot of other characters. Really, he’s one of the characters I advise people to go to first, because it lets you focus on getting down the game without having to worry about performing anything too advanced, but at the same time have a character who can do it all.

Well, alright. That sounds right up my alley.

Thanks much for your advice.

Not a problem man.

I can’t say Bryan’s a turtle. He’s extremely (too?) well-rounded. He has moves that give great block stun for setups. He has crush moves. He has great wall carry. Great punishment. He has a punch counter. He has a magic 4. And once you learn how to taunt cancel, he has a guard break as well.

Bryan doesn’t really have a weakness tbh.

Well I won’t be using Bryan, then.

I’ve decided I’ll main Paul to begin with, see how I do with Lee, and take a look at Lars.

Thanks XL. I haven’t seen many solid “basic” Bryan’s like SDZ yet for this game so that’s why I ask. In DR with taunt he was a bulldog. Without taunt he was defensive. Silly how one little move changes a character completely.

And like I said I wasn’t talking about his wall game. A monkey could buffer taunt cancel on wall.
