I fooled around with the History mode. I can say without a doubt that 3D games do not age very well. Tekken 3 looks okay, but the rest look archiac. It’s hard to believe 3D technology has advanced so much.
A question to those who’ve played the arcade. Would you say there’s any downgrade in graphics because this shit doesn’t look like it’s playing on my PS2. And from the videos I’ve seen it looks pretty close.
What’s that standard combo that I see people using with hwoarang? Don’t really know how it starts off or the middle, I just know that it ends with uf+3,4,3. I’m guessing there are certain variations to it. This is the first tekken game where I really wanna start using him.
just got my bundle from gamecrazy and played for a bit, the game is a breath of fresh air for anybody who is used to playing 2d fighters.
i gotta say thanks to the dude who said he got a shirt with his preorder. i had no idea that gamecrazy was giving out exclusive shirts with the preorder. when i asked the sales guy about it and the artbook he looked bummed out because he looked like he thought he would be able to keep it if i didn’t ask. thanks again to the dude who said he got the shirt or i wouldn’t have even thought to ask about it.
I think that was me that said that? if not, it happened to me, I went to gamecrazy NOT thinking I’d get a tshirt OR artbook because a) I called and they said no tshirt and b) I thought the artbook was only for gamestop/ebgames… but when i got there he gave them to me.
BUT at ebgames they didn’t give me the artbook cuz i forgot to ask so i went back in and he went in the back and got the artbooks but they had fingerprints on it and stuff like they were looking through it and thought they’d get to keep it.
also at ebgames they had their last one in the window with a price tag on it even though i had reserved it, wtf
lol
Graphics looked like they washed the Shine outta them compared to the arcade. Its still a great looking game, but im a perfectionist so I tend to notice things like that. I wish it would have came out for Xbox. I had to blow dust off my PS2 before i put in TEkken 5.
You never seen anyone use u+4 or u/f+4 as a launcher? It’s pretty good and used in conjunction with the other launchers to counter various situations, he’s not that bad really. Just have to work with him a whole lot more now.
I completed Devil Within. This has to be the worst mini game ever. Seriously. It was way too repetitive. If they were going to make it like this, why not copy Tobal 1 or 2. Or why not make it more like Final Fight. It would’ve been tight if it was 2D with some wiz bang graphics.
I watched the videos included in the game, and the game looks pretty close to the arcade. But I wouldn’t no for sure, since I never played it. I saw on Gaming-Age that a lot of peeps who played it say it was pretty close (which is amazing considering the difference in hardware).
The story is weak. All the endings were whimsical and didn’t really tie back into the energy and seriousness of the intro.
I played a decent amount of Tekken 5 at my buddy’s house last night. It was great! I still used Jin (who I’ve been using since Tekken 3) and I’m really glad he isn’t broken any more. Now he actually takes skill to use again, and you won’t have scrubs running to Jin just because you can score some easy wins with him if you know what to abuse.
All in all, my friend had been playing it all day and I haven’t played any Tekken for a good 6 months, so I got my ass kicked, but it was still fun. It definitely makes me wish I had a ps2.
I was pretty impressed by the Tekken 5 Hori stick. There were some very easy to notice differences between it and my friend’s Hori Fighting Stick 2, the biggest one being the fact that the gate on the Tekken 5 stick seemed to be a lot larger. I’m not sure if this is due to the lack of Sanwa parts, or if it was just a change from the FS2. Regardless, it still seemed like a pretty good stick to me.
