Tekken 5 Tiers?

Actually King is good because he has safe pokes, good throws, a decent enough combo system.

D/F 1,2 is more then decent in T5. Not to mention his u/f 4 is sickeningly good.

Bryan is top three also, especially in anything with a level involving a wall.

so king has 1 safe poke. and he has an u/f+4 that can lead to 50%ish. everyone has 50% juggles. everyone has safe pokes.

king can throw, true, but in this game where the throw break window is large, thats not that important.

i think that king is alright, yes. better than t4. but hes not as good as say… wang imo

No King isnt as good as wang, but much improved than in t4. I wish they would have gave him A.kings dark upper. The fact that he can wd makes his hop kick more effective(I just wish I can get his wd down pack). d+1,2 is much better than d/f+1,2 for a poking move. Yeah throw windows are large but the ability to buffer throws really helps to get in as many attempts as possible. Like a reliable 1,throw buffer,GS_tombstone is pretty effective. Also b+1 is pretty good against pitbullers. FF+2,1 really helps his wall game. Good combo for people rushing King is d/b+3 ch,ws+4,d/b+3+4,2 and if it stuns them on a wall b+3_f+2+3.

But how can you compare him to wang. Wang is a beast imo.

after a long tekken session, i’d haveta say wang is definitely top 10. possibly even top 5. he’s powerful kinda like bryan, but better oki. everytime i think of playing julia, i will play wang instead.

i still like devil jin over regular jin. ewgf for life.

Wang Top 5??? LMAO.

He does damage, but he’s still a modified chang clone with a deathfist. I’ll hand him top 10, but maybe at the 9th or 10th place. You still have people like Steve, Nina, Feng, Bryan, Paul, Kaz and a host of others who can own him up.

Raven is among the top 5 in Korea?? No Nina???

I would say top ten as well, but kaz better then wang please explain?
I agree with the steve, nina, bryan, paul, and feng.

She’s not real popular over there, so not many people use her with her bullshit.I mean I stop watching korean video’s cause I got sick of seeing bob,and raven on every vid.Ravens just a little bit too unsafe to be truely top tier, damn cheap though. Its going to be fun to see all the playing styles clash at evo this year.
Im not taking the korean tiers seriously at all this year, cause somethings kind of make you wonder. Like nina not top tier over there, thats not right. And early they were like paul was low tier. And if you’ve seen a paul in action he’s not low lier at all. Deathfist, wall, deathfist is probably the greatest equalizer on the game.
With maddogjin not competiting anymore I think the americans or europeans can real set the tone for tekken5.

he may have started out as a julia clone but he far from it now, plus in t2 he was much better then her, not his fault he got raped in tag by frame advantage and health

yes wang is superior to julia, and he has more bs than paul. paul is strictly american tekken character.

not that many broken stuff, just run to them at zero range and mixup. a couple of lows, and they will duck and eat deathfist in the face.

plus paul is not very safe on block now…=/ well nto so much as

I wish King had back his old d/f+1 from T2 or even worse, T1.
In T1, d/f+1 = free combos.
In T2, no free combos, but the move was still +32483278.
Plus 121 was a combo on CH.

Man I miss King the 1st.

I Got A Question
Could Tekken Be Considered A Balanced Game?
I Mean, Can You Make It With Any Char

Ive Been Using Panda

Is He Good ^_^?

I haven’t even seen anyone use Panda yet in T5, but my best guesstimate is that he’ll have a lot of trouble against fast jabbing characters like Nina, Steve and Law.

Kuma/Panda is generally and currently considered the worst character aside from Lei Wulong. The game has not been out long enough to really say if it’s balanced or not, but based on what I have seen and experienced so far, as well as past Tekkens, no, it is not balanced.

I think as the game progresses the already apparent top tiers of Nina, Steve, Bryan are just going to get better. The options and more importantly, SAFETY those characters can have is really a wall in the way of any “balance” the game is going to have in a few months. If Heihachi is not outright banned, he will replace Steve and Nina on the top tier, though.

I assume you say that because of Hei’s 10 frame jab combo he has that does at least 40 percent and is completely safe.

Still not sure if that is going to be enough to replace either Steve or Nina. We will see though.

Oh and Kuma isnt that good. Even hardcore Kuma players want to drop him.

Wang superior to Julia?!?!? What game are you talking about, I sincerely hope it’s not T5. Julia is hella better than wang.

Wang and Julia do about the same amount of dmg in juggles, julia may do a little more.

Wang has the CH deathfist, but julia has ch 121, which is faster, has more priority, and leads to more dmg. The only advantage DF has is that it’s mid and 121 is high.

Also, Julia’s wall game is 10x better than Wang’s. Wang doesn’t have any decent wall combos. Julia has several damaging options (more damaging than Wang, anyway).

Wang is good now, but he’s not top tier; like I said before he’s probably top 10, but not above julia. People just assume julia is like TTT/T4 julia, but her mixup game is wholefully better than wang’s.

Jizz why don’t you think Feng/Raven are top tier/top mid? Who would be better outside of Steve/Nina/Bryan??

I think DJin and Jin are about the same. Jin doesn’t have many quality lows, but his parry game is still there, along with many in your face tactics. Plus he can WD. DJin still has his safe pokes, but most ppl are used to TTT Jin, which is what he is. He doesn’t even have a mid ewgf anymore, which makes his ewgf just as useful as Kaz’s. And his WD mixups are easily beaten by characters like Feng, Julia, Steve and Nina, who have alot more priority than he does. I personally think they’re equal, with one having strengths over the other in certain areas.

I’ve come to learn that you can only place tier lists on what you’ve seen/experienced. If you’ve seen Feng kick everybody’s ass, then you’re gonna think he’s top tier. If you’ve seen characters like Marduk, King and Asuka pick Steve players apart, you aren’t going to think Steve is that good. All these lists are very subjective right now.

here’s my question

How well do mid tiers fare against the high tiers 5.5-4.5, 6-4, or worse on average? Do high tiers have bad matchups?

Julia better than Wang?

Wow.

zig youre WAY underestimating paul. its not like arario is the only good paul around here theres actually 3 arario, chet and ogre. the guy is a monster in the right hands. he is not a linear character when you consider the fact that his sweep will catch all step except sidewalk left where it will trip but not complete the combo. however if someone is just walking left he can hit you with a load of other shit. that new mid punch he has also tracks both ways and is safe. wake up game is ridiculous. cant lay down ss3 hits hard on the ground and doesnt push out, so youre still at square one. you have to guess, guess wrong and it hurts. juggles take you to the wall, any hit he gets with your back to the way = phoenix smasher = game over. one of the best punishes in the game on block and on whiff with electric being high phoenix smasher is the best whiff punisher in the game.

It’s an old post now you douche.

BTW Chet’s flying in tonight, plus Paul’s now my secondary. Yay!

scrub

skilled players use bryan and steve
