Tekken 5 Tiers?

youre right except for when you disagreed with me. WS3 doesnt always guarantee the f+1+2 ender. youre also wrong when you say she isnt bad. shes pretty bad. and db+1+2 isnt “HELLA” annoying. the best thing out of it is b4 which stuns anything but anybody whos seen it will be on to it. she doesnt have a fast low that does damage so you can just stand there pretty much. theres no mixups out of it really.

the b+4 after d/b+1+2 is interuptable.

after d/b+1+2 the only viable options you have are throw mixup and any low attack because the anti strat against d/b+1+2 is just to block and not get mash happy.

 Umm…Ling is NOWHERE low tier. She still has the best stance (AoP better than Flicker IMO) in the game which makes about 90% of Tekken moves whiff. Plus she’s a relatively fast character with good damage on her juggles. Ling is just challenging to play because she can be played in an infinite amount of ways, which is what Namco intended.

BDC + Aop + Triple SS = You can’t hit me.

i’m not sure i’d call that “great.”

3~4 is really slow, i’m almost sure people have time to tech and block low.
3+4? see insomnotek’s comments.
b+1+3? chicken it.
i don’t know about d+3+4. i forget what it is.
what if they roll back?

i’ve just never had a problem getting up from asuka or taken considerable damage from making a mistake on the ground.

granted, tiers aren’t that important in this game. imo, it’s very balanced.

the characters used for people who qualified for nats are pretty much evenly spread. bryan, who i personally consider very strong and well balanced, was only used by one person. nina by 5, and steve by 2. there were just as many paul players as nina, and just as many yoshis as steve.

Devil Jin says b+1 all that gay shit and launch that whore.

At max range, yes, f+1+2 will whiff. At any other range, it’ll always hit. Against the larger characters you almost never have to worry about it whiffing

Why? She’s got some strong tools, a decent throw game, strong high/low crush, and solid damage. She does lack punishment and could use some better pokes vs 8 framers, but like I said, she’s good but not great. Kinda mediocre overall.

Dude, having sizable advantage after an unblockable mid, that’s mind game city!

Zig dont bother, just let the man believe what he wants.

Most of us know Asuka is mid tier but he doesnt want to believe it and saying it to him again isnt going to go anywhere.

And people who are always expecting to see the b4 after the DB 1+2, usually gets a wrist chuck, b 1+2 or a df 1,2

hm… i understand the points that you guys are making. asuka does have some good stuff, but compared to everyone elses bread and butter tacics, shes low tier. a bit better than lei, but not by much.

I doubt most or none of you are serious asuka players. why even bother judging what status she floats on? this shit is so stupid. it can go both ways. asuka can suck to alot of people. I used to be a ling/jun player and I use neither in T5. but then again, I know a couple asuka players that would beat your asses with your best character. doesnt depend on the character, it depends on the player. some characters just require more work than others but some players prefer that over the “over easy anyone can use” type of characters. please stop discussing characters you guys have no in depth skills on.

i just checked out the ucla 3v3 vid, my god tom is sick with nina. everyone else looks like some xcopy shit.

Soo no offense but I do play Asuka.

Im not the best Asuka player thats for sure but I do know how to play her and what she generally can or cant do.

I play her basically because im a Jun player, so it came somewhat naturally.

what up jae.

I understand, and I hope you understand I didnt say “all” of you guys. with the exception of like a few of you guys in here I know the rest dont play her as a main. thats what I meant :karate:

on an off note, I think Raven can be up there with the best of them. but he is hard as fawk to use IMO. well, to use right anyway. he is so damn technical. no wonder koreans love him.

Im certaintly no expert on Raven but from what I can tell, he is a bit of a high risk high reward type of character.

What is your all’s opinion of Julia because I’m thinking about making her my main character. Strengths? Weaknesses? Bread and Butter? Thanks in advance.

raven is tight. glad to see your opinion of him changed.

once he gets started it’s over. 3 knees are hella easy off df+3.

lol @ hella easy

I can barely get 2 to connect

the 3 knee combo should be omitted from basic strategy. It’s useless in tournament play, too risky, you slip, they tech roll … bye to 60% if they catch you in the air.

I almost wanted to be mad at Namco for that hit detection on that move, but the only logical explanation for this is that they didnt intend on making it connect. So it’s an exploited hit. Much like follow up attacks to Lee’s HMS 2 and BK, Asuka’s WS3 > 1+4. . ., and Christies DF+2 CH

Execution. Learn it. 3 knees after CH df+3 is rediculously easy.

What the hell are you talking about? “Exploited” hits? Man, first SC2, now this. Keep your scrub-ass mouth shut already.

Lo—>l

I’m an Asuka player as well, and having played Chinatown’s crazy varied competition, I personally think she’s not half bad. I have to turle most of the time, but I think she can hold her ground.

I’d like to learn to play someone else though. Julia or Anna?

Asuka is a turtle character thats why, playing her you really learn to take advantage of everything that happens and look for any little mistake there might be.

I would say between those two pick Julia.

She is extremely linear yes, but damn she does linear well.

Anna on the other hand is more like a broken down Nina, she can still hold her own. It just seems like what she always is a downplayed version of her sister.

Myself ive been playing Jin and DJin along with Asuka. Dont know much about DJin yet besides the ric combo that doesnt hit little girls(I havent been able to hit Lei with it either). I still cant figure out how to do the ground laser after Stone Head either.
