My problem lies in the fact that I don’t know where everything hits. As I mentioned previously in this thread, I’m quite new to this game, so it’s taking me a while to figure out exactly what to do when or how long to wait and so on and so forth. Asuka lets me do that however, I’m glad I picked her.
I’ll have to think about Julia or Anna. I’ve been leaning towards Anna personally, but she’s a bit harder to learn for someone who’s new to this.
i play julia occasionally. i like her because she requires you to be sharp; a lot of her moves are unsafe, but there’s a lot of nice setups to work with. landing CH 1,2,1 feels nice. i like her oki game also, mad axes, d+3, ff+3, elbow.
elbow is good but it can get backdashed pretty easy.
i played against anna a lot. i hate her and i hate her wall combos =\ my friends play her as a ghetto nina plus sick wall combos.
with raven ssl jab and two knees is practical. any combination of stuff like ff+3, 1, ssl 1, ff+3 , ending
or ff+3, 1, ff n+1, ssl+1, ff+3, ending - works too
without ssl i think to get 3 knees is not possible on all characters. every knee has to be perfectly buffered and the jabs have to be done as early as possible. meaning its not very practical .
LOL, dude, all I intended to say in my post was forget the tier list and just play. If you’re good, you can take your character up to great wonders. Granted, the only thing a tier list will prove is how hard most matches are with each other, other than that, it’s always your skill vs opponents skill.
to answer the question above on how JOP wins with jack is because Jack is not that bad a char. JOP also has better reflexes and blocking than 99% of the players here. Reflexes are a gift. Some people don’t have them. Those who do, can use them to overcome the shortcomings of a character. I bet JOP w/ Nina or Feng would be much more dominant that JOP w/ Jack.
My main character is Bryan and I hardly play anyone in T5. I usually just put myself in training mode but my execution against players at the arcade are somewhat terrible. Anyway, I’m curious, is anyone banned for tourney play in T5? I kept hearing that Heihachi was banned in Japan or something.
no JOP with nina or feng would not be more dominant than him with jack. what part of the simple fact is it that you guys dont get? its not the character in this game, its the player. JOP using sentinel would be alot more dominant than him using cammy. JOP using sagat would be more dominant than him using maki, but not the same case in T5.
papa trunks: hei is banned at sbo because at the time during when the regionals were held hei was unlocked. otherwise he isnt going to be banned.
Bruce ppl, Bruce. He definetly should be somewhere in top 5(especially if Paul is in there).
Does anyone else see it? He just needs patience but the rewards are great. His pokes are good and annoying. Bruce is deadly on counter hit. f+3 on CH can lead to 50% health loss, f+3(CH), f+3, 1, b+4,3,4 (71 damage). His juggles are easy. And then there’s his wall game. [wall] 1,2,1,2. That simple. If you can CH 1,2,1,2 [wall] 1,2,1,2 then that’s almost 50% right there.
So far I haven’t seen the 3D side of EVO. I had no idea T4 was that broken, I didn’t get into that game. Well then I’m grateful for how T5 turned out. I just hope Inseok comes to EVO with his Bruce.
If I wasn’t a Bryan fanboy, I’d break out Bruce. Fuckers got game.
But I agree. Fuck tiers for the most part. Yeah it’s easy to take away 90+ life on wall with Bryan. But he’s still pretty beatable. He’s probably the most predictable character and people should be immune to him and his taunts by now. If not, quit sucking.
Bryan is totally stupid…which is why he’s my co-main with Devil Jin It doesn’t really matter that he’s predcitable because there’s almost nothing you can do even if you do know what he’s going to do. You know that b+1’s going to come out but b/c of the iffy SS system, you’re just going to take it and block it…giving him +3 adv. After that you know he’s going to go for jab pressure, but you’re not going to try to d+1 because there’s the off chance he might uf+4 which is too much damage to give up to risk getting a piddling amount of damage to counter his jab that you know he’ll most likely do, but might not.
That’s why Bryan is too good. He’s too safe and even though you know there are places you can exploit a hole, the potential damage tradeoff is not worth it.
I hate Steve but I always try to counter him with Bryan and yet he still dodges the counter punch. =/ Yeah, Bryan is pretty predictable but once he sets someone up for the juggle, be prepared to taste a shitload of damage.
