Tekken 5 Tiers?

I’m down. Guess I’ll start walking.

some of your tier lists dont even make sense really. jack-5 is low tier along with kuma and lei? do you guys even side step or what?

jin is not top tier haha. christie is garbage. but you got one thing right paul is top of the crop. the real low tier in T5 is not characters, but the east side of North America.

Christie’s good yo. Doesn’t seem to have much for a wall game though.

Jack-5 is at least mid or better christie doesnt suck SLips got 2nd at nationals with her/eddy so… I think JOP coulda won with Jack-5 if he went. Anyways the games really balanced once you get to top level play getting there is the hard part.

my humble opinion

1 Bryan
2 Steve
3 Bruce
4 Nina
5 Paul

rest

last - Kuma

Weird, it seems that Japs are currently raving about Hei being broken.

if you are talking about hei being banned at SBO its because he was unlocked during the time of regional tournaments. but alot of ppl believe hei to be top tier. Ive never faught against him nor do I use him so I wouldnt know.

mdj said knee is the best bryan player he done ever saw. I know its prolly just the fast reflexes and scary execution but I really want to see that shit. even tho there are alot of decent/good bryans in cali and everywhere else Im sure they are pretty basic. I wonder if the knee dood’s bryan is fun to watch. Im guessing it is judging from the korean vids Ive seen so far. every character they use they make it seem fun to use.

i have alot of knee vids but theyre old . nothing recent has came out from him. (that im able to get my hands on)

Nina seems to have high priority along with a lot of feints. Steve is so fast, he can counter anything even if someone stunblocks him. Bryan has some crazy ass combos that have up to 60%-70%(maybe even 80%) damage. I’d say those are top tier characters. Everyone and anyone else who wins tournaments is dependent on a top player, not a top character.

Tekken doesn’t have “priority”, except for maybe throws (sometimes lose to moves they should interrupt otherwise). If two moves connect at the same time, they trade. One move won’t out-prioritize the other.

how do you explain, or what term would you use?

or describe ewgf hitting low jabs or jabs, while magic 4’s hit ewgf when performed the same time. i’m thinking about ttt right now.

Thats because in TTT you could do EWGF a hell of alot faster then you can now.

haha, i was asking what term would be used, if we’re not gonna say priority, i didn’t need an explanation for it haha, wouldn’t even be a problem if i didn’t say ttt.

I’d love some Asuka tips.

I mean I have her basic pokes down, it’s just figuring out what to do against other characters that has me going for a loop.

;p

EWGF has 11 frame startup. Take execution into account and it comes out around 13~14 frames. Magic 4’s were generally faster in Tag. The crouch dash motion also gives Electrics a small high crush window on startup, and most setups made them uninterruptable to begin with.

Kaz’s Electric could beat low jabs in 4 'cause such moves often lacked high crush frames.

Priority (which is an ill-defined concept in the first place) is often just used to describe actual speed (Steve has high “priority” 'cause he’s generally faster at any range than you are). If you were to specifically test a move vs any other move, unless low/high crush came into effect, it’d all come down to speed. Throws can be an exception because certain moves have immunity to throws at certain points in the animation.

As of now, how are the tiers looking. Is Nina still top?

Asuka is extrememly character specific, it really depends upon who your facing to know what to use and you can really only find out by playing that character.

koreans dont seem to think so

I think its also important to note acouple things:

  1. The Koreans play on a different setting then we do, so the tiers are going to look alittle different.

  2. Unless you use Lei/Kuma chances are you can win with your character as long as your good with them.
