Are you talking about Jin or DJ when you talk about the d/f + 2, Jin still has it and it still launches on counter.
DJ doesnt have it, I guess because his EWGF pops up again.

I’m absolutely loving Asuka. I mean really loving using her. I may play Julia (or even Nina in the future) but I’m more than happy playing Asuka now. Anyways, a question or two from the slight Tekken newbie.
(#2 is to Zig, or anyone else that can help):
Is there a way to always land the f+1+2 at the end of the b+2, 1, 3 juggle?
Can I call above juggle the Zigmover :D?
EWGF is electric wind god fist. Stronger faster version of WGF. Faster recovery time, allowing for different juggles.
Sorta like a JF’d WGF (if you wanna put it that way)
Can someone hit this post up with Steve Fox essential juggle combos and top moves?
Didn’t want to sith through tz, because I’m not sure if wether a post is bullshit or the real deal. I could only tell from characters I already had/have a slight grasp on(such as Hwoarang and Ling).
EDIT: nm, i think i may have found some threads that are legit.
Pardon my stupidity, but does WS, WH or other motions not included in the regular u, d, b, f stand for? Are they side step inclined?
Sorry ^_^;;
ws is while standing. you might also hear it called while rising (wr).
when you crouch and you are holding down and you let go of down your character stands up into the normcal pose. during the animation of standing up you can input button commands that come out as new moves.
for example: you are playing jin and another jin tries to hellsweep you. you block the hellsweep in a crouching pose you can let go of down and press 2. this will make the move WS+2 and pop your opponent into the air.
also, there are moves that are called iWS. those are called instand while standing moves. thats when you tap down and then perform the move. you dont have to go into crouching for very long with this.
I see.
Thanks for the help ^^.
Better recovery time is debatable. Its only because of the guard break animation that the move is safer. On whiff its just as punishable and probably has just as many recovery frames as regular wgf.
My own personal biggest gripe with T5 other than raped sidestep/sidewalk (at least make it TTT good, not necessarly T4 good) is E/WGF whiffing things that are in recovery just because the characer is considered FC, a la Law db+4. Even Asuka’s i think its uf+3+4 little pinwheel kick recovers crouching because even when the recovering animation had her appearing to be standing, WGF whiffed.
Doesn’t Kaz’s EWGF/WGF hit high? That explains why it whiffs when people are in FC (though I agree that some animations do NOT look like they’re in FC yet they’re still considered FC…). My guess is wait a little longer till they’re not considered FC, but they might be able to recover in time to block the WGF anyway…
And more random questions…
How good is Lee compared to the upper tiers? I know he’s a wall monster like Anna, Bryan, etc. but I keep hearing how people say his game suffers without walls due to non-damaging juggles (WTF? He’s got some good stuff w/o walls too…) or crappy pokes or something.
Baek. CD’ing pitbull or zoner? I think his CD game is decent, but then I haven’t played good competition lately yet. And the Baek One-Two Step (d/f+3(hold)~f, d/f+4~f, repeat d/f+4~f part) looks dope as long as they don’t hit him out of it… Oh, and what about his Triple SS game? Any uses for it?
Tekken Zaibatsu is some scrub garbage forum. I wanted some strats and combos for Devil Jin and all I got was 5 pages full of nerds going crazy over his laser eyes, posting stuff that’s just wrong, or not even related to Tekken at all.
I want some juggle combos and I end up looking at one HUNDRED different possibilities all of which either do the exact same thing, do less damage but more hits (wow!), or there are seriously no points doing them in the first place. People are telling me to end Kazuya juggles with df+2 because it spins the guy to the side and looks cool.
Normally I never recommend going to this website for any reason, but everybody read the “Tekken Basics” FAQ posted on Gamefaqs first before posting anything here. Hopefully we can keep the SRK Tekken stuff as unretarded as possible.
You need to tap d/b if you want to do an “instant” while standing move for example. If you tap just d, you’re going to get a side step.
Asuka’s pretty hard to hit I’ve noticed. She has an annoying poke with her df+4 as well. I think it might be better than Devil Jin’s even. Her FC, df+2 is extremely annoying to fight against. Learn to do it after Violet (b+1) or from a standing position (d, DF+2). On a counter hit FC, df+2, her Moon Scent (WS+3) gives you a guaranteed juggle with 1+4, 2 afterwards. Anybody know how fast her standing jab is? I like 1, 3 as an up close poke, but I’m losing to Steve mashers mashing his jabs all over the place.
However, seeing as Jun was the trash tier of TTT (I bet the bear was more useful than she was ), Asuka is probably weak as heck in T5 as well. I don’t really like ending juggles with her f+1+2 move, as what am I suppose to follow up with afterwards?? The opponent gets blasted across the screen and Jun doesn’t have a wave dash chase after them. If I end a combo with anything else, I get awesome school girl damage every time (40 something at most).
Screw her for now for me. I’m playing the Kangaroos and kicking people in the balls instead.
As far as combos go I think it has better recovery time. Thats why you can do 3 or 4 EWGFs.
The only combo I do with DJ is launch b,f+2,1,u+2 f,f+2. Some people do d/f+4,4 as an ender. I don’t know if it does more damage or not.
As far as Steve goes, I only started using him recently but take my info as you will.
Juggle: d/f+2, d/f+1,2,1, f+2,1~b, 1, 3+4,2. 59 damage I think?
If you know you’re nearing a wall I think it’s better to just do dashing 1’s to get to the wall, then 1,2,1,2 for a wall combo. Then d/b+2.
or if you’re already by a wall just launch, B+1 so you’re in flicker, then 1,1,1,1,2.
As far as top moves go. I don’t know. Zaibatsu always has a thread for each character as for which their top ten moves are.
(I’m still a newbie so I could easilly be very wrong here)
The best deviljin juggle I can come up with is three ring circus, then otg. After df+2, 1, you can juggle with 324, ff+2 for a little more guarateed damage, but you cant otg after it, and pretty much any otg hit will do more damage, and thats not exactly a safe launcher to begin with.
If u+2 is the same as d or d/f+2 uppercut ender to the laser scraper, I’d really have to recommend against it. There is no reason to ever use the laser scraper (uppercut ender) in a juggle unless you’re really good with DJ’s mediocre okizeme game since that ender does less damage than regular 2 ender, but will leave the opponent closer. Staple brain-dead DJ juggles are laser cannon (bf2,1,2), then axe kick or overhead punch to knee f+2,4. The latter combo actually requires some timing and doesn’t always hit from all distances launched but it does the same amount of damage as 2xewgf, laser cannon.
Top five
Nina
Steve
Bryan
Hei
Feng/wang
EWGF, ff+3,1, b,f+2,1,2
Now THAT’S a tight DJ combo. Won’t work on girls though.
It’s not guaranteed. I dunno how safe it is, but assuming the recovery’s like his normal WS 4,4, probably not safe at all. It could be different though.
Can anyone get Lei to work? This dude was pretty beastly in Tekken 3 from when I used to play.
I skipped Tekken 4, and since I get free rentals from Blockbuster, I picked up Tekken 5. Luckily, I remember his moves from Tekken 3, so it only took a good solid six hours to get back into form.
But this new form sucks. Really, really sucks.
Okay, Lei has like, no pokes. His punches are quick, but the most he can do is two punches (1,2). My brother has become a fan of Bryan, and I just can’t get in on this dude. The range on his legs is crazy. The block stun from many of his kick attacks keeps Lei from doing anything; not to mention the mid hits that prevent any sort of retaliation. Bryan owns Lei for FREE yo, not even funny. Pin that shit down and Lei can’t get in
b/d+4 still catches off guard, but becomes predictable fast. b+3 is an awesome kick style counter, but it gets owned by long(ugh, again, Bryan)/low ranged moves. The sad thing is that this is more than likely the only thing Lei has going for him (b/d+4).
For punishing whiffs, ff(hold forward)+3,2,2,2,3. Good damage, absolutely retarded looking. ff+3,4 catches peeps off guard expecting the regular ff+3, but if you hit them with ff+3 and follow with 4, say good bye to the air combo. Another whiff punisher alternative, ff+2,4,4,3,3. Alright damage; really flashy looking. 3,4 and 4,3 SUCK FAT ASS. Very slow and punishable with quick attacks (quick punches, whatever). His “Comet” style kick looks awesome, but sucks ass  (f+3+4,4). Use it if you feel like comitting suicide
The styles are ASS in Tekken 5 (save a few instances). Pure liquified shit. It becomes apparent FAST in Tekken 5 (this wans’t even an issue in Tekken 3, I don’t know what happeneed) that there NEEDS to be a faster way for Lei to change styles. You have to actually change to the required style. The good ones take some effort to get to. Even on knockdown, you’ll be lucky to make it to Dragon in time for the best throw in the game, ff+1 (fun as ever). ff+1+2 (no style) provides a better, more damaging throw alternative, so why bother?. But with Lei, there’s not a good chance you’ll want to get in, since mixing through the different styles requires some breathing room, otherwise, all Lei’s got is b/d+4,4  . Drunken style is most easily accessible (f+3+4), and through it, high low with 3,2 is all it’s got going.
For mixing it up and luring the opponent to attack you, I recommend b1+2, then d+1 FIVE TIMES. Very retarded looking, shit damage, but it’s all he’s got brotha. Switching between standing attacks and sidewind is good too. d+1+2, then 3+4 when they get close, or just 3,4 (in succession quickly) their ass. You’re dead if it’s blocked. u+f+4 catches a lot of stuff off guard; u+f+4 x 2, d/f+4, press down, you’re in quick Snake style.
I think I’m missing something … ahh yes Combos. Wait, nevermind, this dude has SHIT ASS combos. 90% all start with f,neutral,4, which either hits your opponent away, or makes them block, then gets you punished. I vomit IN RAGE (IN RAGE I TELLS YA).
b+1+2 is awesome for dodging throws and punches and then retaliating (read: Tekken 3). For long range kicks, it will get stuffed. If missed, it has a possibility of getting punished, but it seems pretty strict. It can hit air attacks too … yeah, but that’s kinda useless information now isn’t it.
I reiterate: I am getting severely raped by Bryan, used by my brother even, who isn’t even a serious fighting game player; Can anyone get Lei to work?
After all those fun Lei vs Heihachi matches from Tekken 3, I seriously wondered, WTF happened to Lei?
Lowest tier EVER  Thumbs down bro. Lei gets no love Tekken 5 2005 peace out yo.
yeh i meant d+2 on the DJ combo.
And yeh it isn’t gauranteed with Hei (checked)
Master Chibi - About the b 2,1,2 f 1+2
You have to do the string almost as soon as you launch them in the air to hit the f 1+2, if you miss it by just a frame or two they will hit the ground. Also that combo doesnt work of b+4 or 1+2.
I still love Asuka.
Great Seph - Lee sucks without Walls, he has no real lows to be scared of and his best launcher u/f 4 isnt safe. He has really no safe or damaging strings to use. Hes fun to play though.
Yeah I’m with you on that, I’m very disappointed that Lei hasn’t recovered from getting the shaft in t4 and he hasn’t really improved that much in this game. I also enjoyed him in t3, he was my best character and he was alright in ttt.
As for damaging combos try this out:
Play dead to 3+4, 2,2,2, f,f+3,4
Just FYI, b+2,1,3, f+1+2 DOES work after Asuka’s WS 3. It WON’T work after b+3, which looks similar but has horrible recovery.
