Tekken 5 Tiers?

Top Tier
Steve, Nina, Bryan_Raven

Middle Tier
Everyone else.

The games really balanced IMO with a few cheap tactics here and there but everyone is decent. Even Kuma!

The fact that Soo is Korean himself has nothing to do with the things that he’s saying. :rofl:

Let’s get some strats going already. I can’t stand reading Tekkenzaibatsu as that forum has more scrubs than the game forums here. It seriously needs a mod that isn’t afraid to delete the retarded posts or at least the ones with all the fake combos.

Why are Nina and Steve on top? I tried to learn the game myself and I found that Steve’s b+1 comes out super fast and crumples you on the counter hit. Plus it chains into the low attack sweep attack as well. A deadly tool if you ask me. I’m reading stuff about how that move really isn’t that good and that it got toned down from T4 etc… I’ve been watching mashers play, and the df+1+2 punch parry move seems like a really cheap spam move as well. Lots of range, two quick true mid hits, plus it staggers you on the block. I’m new btw, so the more descriptive the better.

b+1 is a high hit, not as abusable as you think…

df+1+2 isn’t a punch parry, just two mids. it’s decent, nice for catching techers, but very side-steppable and range isn’t terribly good. also if you whiff one of these, you’re screwed.

"The fact that Soo is Korean himself has nothing to do with the things that he’s saying. "

Indeed.

Raven is not top. People are getting used to him now. top 10 yeah, not top 5

A lot of people can be questionable. I dont look at korean tiers cause I havent seen a Korean Nina yet.

IMO

Steve, Nina, Bryan, Feng, Paul, Law, Julia, Raven

raven is like 3s makoto except easier to pick up and less risky.

Steve is top cause everything he does is SAFE.

Nina is top cause of u/f+1, and her monster oki game.

nina is fuckin dope.

i’m surprised that koreans arent picking her up.

The only footage of a Korean Nina I saw was in one of those Korean 3 on 3 team vids; he pretty much carried his team and got Inseok’s team down to the final round but lost anyway. Judging on his Nina vs. U.S. Nina’s, I’d say U.S. Nina > Korean Nina. But that’s just based on the vid I saw…

My theory is that Nina isn’t seen much in Korea 'cause they play on +2 life. If you think about it, she’s really not that scary on that setting. Even on normal life she doesn’t have the awesome damage of Steve or Bryan, and at +2 her wakeup is a lot less painful.

nina isnt used much in korea? its humerous you guys talk like you guys have been to korea and that is true or something. oh you havent seen too many vids of korean ninas so there must be none lol. okaaay.

and all of steve’s moves arent safe. he has alot of high moves that you can duck and punish.

I think you guys are pushing this “korean scrubs taking out top US players” thing a tad far. or maybe it came out wrong. any good player from Korea can take out a top player here. that doesnt mean tomhilfiger or JOP. I meant random “top” players from here. I didnt say the top 2 best. the standard competition in Korea is just much higher than here. like I said, relevant to US 3s compared to Japan 3s.

and you guys need to stop listing tiers and who is “not top”. this game doesnt work like capcom games. anyways Im done with this thread. and I thought Tekkenzaibatsu was bad lol.

I absolutely love playing Asuka, I mean really love. Xiyaou was my regular before, but Asuka is so much more comfortable and flexible.

I’m trying to get into this seriously, the way I did with MvC2 and CvS2, so I’ll ask my question right out of the gate: How do I poke properly in this game? Is it a back and forth type of deal? I poke safely, then the other guy, until we land that hit and then go into combo?

Like Asuka’s d+3 or 1+3 for example? What’s good to use as pokes with her?

Try to force whiffs as much as possible, and use Asuka’s f+1+2 to punish whiffs or high-recovery moves on block (deathfist, etc). f+2 seems to be a good whiff punisher as well. If you’re in throw range, do her little pull-forward throw, where she doesn’t really do anything. She gets a couple of frames of advantage off of it, and they can’t break it. Seems good for CH/throw guessing games if you land it.

I can send you more info via a PM, pertaining more to your actual question, once I dig some up. Hi MC. :slight_smile:

So are you going to enlighten me or continue to offer nothing constructive?

whats oki?

I thought so.

Does f+2 link into that little scissor kick launcher, or am I thinking of b+3 (something along those lines)? Also, are you talking about df+1, 2, where she hits the opponent once and then grabs them by the neck and sends them downwards?

I look foward to it.

I imagine the majority of her combos revolve around 1+3, 2, 1 combo deal.

Hey AKA.

:smiley:

Aww man, I forgot how breastastic Asuka was, thanks for reminding Zero.

Sorry, I must be royally fudging up the terminology. 1 = LP, 2 = LK, 3 = RP, 4 = RK?

In that case it’s 1+4, 3, 1?

:open_mouth:

Woah, you’re a bit off there.

1=LP
2=RP
3=LK
4=RK

Asuka’s most damaging juggle is almost always b+2,1,3, f+1+2. It works off any launcher, just be sure you do it fast. Otherwise you got 1+4, 1,2,3. Off f+2 you can also do df+1, uf+3, 1,2,3.

after talking to a few norcal players i thought i was going to just leave this thread. they told me not to waste my time after i explained the stupidity of the comments written here.

they told me not to post anything but fuck it, one of norcals players went to korea and got a 12 win streak. he was doing pretty well. and hes one of the weaker players. apparently there are about 10 norcalers as good or better. that means that just from norcal there are about a dozen guys who could go to korea and wouldnt get beaten by the scrubs.

proof. its over now.

You know what you’re dooooooooooing, take off every zig. You know what you’re doooing, moooooooove zig.

Sorry about that Zig. I wasn’t even close. Haha.

So Asuka’s most damaging juggle doesn’t involve that entire 1+4 deal of hers at all? Wow. I’ll try that third combo out. Thanks.

;D
