Tekken 5 game/stick bundle $30 at my gamestop

I’m almost tempted to buy another one of these… just since its so damn cheap. Probably not worth it once you’ve already got two sticks… just replace parts as neccessary…or buy them as a future gift.

Yea, I’m wondering that too, I know of one more place that has it but I’d have to pay parking and that would kill the deal. Plus I have to rebuild my old happs, and am getting an old pelican real arcade I modded back from my boy, plus another one to mod for his boy and…no time to play.

Given it’s weak durability, I’d say it’s a good spare to have. You can’t even get all the parts for $25.

Ok, im picking a lot of these up. I plan to mod it obviously. I have a few questions to the mod specialists:

  1. will screw in sanwas work? Cuz i dont like twisting buttons… or is there a way to make them stay?

  2. Can someone like me(with knowledge of stick, how they work, how to fix buttons internally, take apart and put back sticks) mod this stick? I’ve never done any shaving/cutting/hard-type mods before where it is required to shave off something.

  3. Vampiro - so you just peeled off the vinyl art? after you peel it, is it still re-appliable? is it easy to do? It seems like after you peeled it off, there are lumps of glue everywhere on the plate cover. Or something…

  4. I dont want art, i just want a plain black stick. is this a hastle to do in anyway?

thanks

When you take the art off, it is completely unusable. If you want it pure black, you will have to paint the top plate, as it is just bare metal.

Screw-in buttons should work, but there may be a spacing issue with the screw rings.

If you have decent prior knowledge of working on a stick, you can work on the Tekken 5 stick. I would reccommend replacing the existing PCB though, as changing the buttons on the one already in there is a pain in the ass.

hail and kill

imo i would go with snap ins if you dont want a hassle.

but if you can deal with sanding down some little pieces of metal, that are in the existing holes for the buttons, which are meant for the snap ins then go for the screw ins but it is a little bit of work. These little pieces of metal dont let screw ins fit.

I modded 2 tekken sticks and added seimitsu screw ins and they are very sturdy and dont move at all ill post some pics if there is a forum or topic for this.

I also painted it white

im just curious, if this is my first stick, how do i go about modding it? or do i just use it for its parts and build a new stick? sorry if this was answered, i just didnt want to read 50 posts of people saying “good deal!”

Read post 9.

yeah there is glue everywhere, gasoline will fix the glue problem.

Just realized my box didn’t have tekken 5 in it. Presumed it was inside that whole collectors box thing and chose not to peal the wrap until today. Those sons of biitches. It isn’t like I can walk in there and claim that the game was missing and they should give me tekken 5. doh.

Im pretty sure they would. When i picked mine up it was like that. Then I went back and told them that it didnt come with the game, and they gave me the game free. But I kinda know the guys that work there since Im a local so i gues i got some of their trust, dunno bout your situation though. No harm in trying

Speaking as a member of a major retailer, as long as you bring your receipt in and all the packaging and explain calmly that the game was missing they should at least try to give you the copy from another stick. Chances are they might not have anymore sticks and not be able to do that for you purely for inventory reasons, but at the least you’d get a store credit or they could give you some sort of as-is discount. Best case scenario is they’d just give you a copy of theirs since they’re prolly flooded with used ones since the price drop on the stick…

…this is what they SHOULD do. but since i dont know how shitty the staff at your gamestop are, after having tried the calm way you really would have to pitch a fit and possibly try another gamestop. they are supposed to assume they fucked up, and having gone through the trouble to bring in your receipt and that bigass stick should say to them that this is important to you and not worth faking for an 18 dollar game. Give it a shot. It’s not like they can ban you.

here is my Hori t5 mirror finish.

Did you create that top by sanding a piece of mirror?

no, that’s a sticker that i get from Autozone.

anyone use this stick with a converter to play on xbox?

Yea, I use it to play GG XX reload on Xbox.

I just got one of these. Waiting for my parts now. I don’t really have to dremel do I?

I have a question about getting the top panel off. I can’t seem to get the nuts to unscrew, cause the bolt turns with it, and I can’t hold it down to keep it still. do any of you guys have this problem? how did you get the top off?

Okay a lot of people ask about if you need a dremel. The biggest need for a dremel are for getting rid of the tabs on the button holes and for widening the holes in the PCB to fit the Sanwa tabs (I don’t do this since I solder wires to the PCB and attach QDs to the other end similar to HRAP style).

That’s all. If you can get rid of the tabs by any other means, then go for it. Trade your soul to the Devil if you really don’t want to buy a dremel. The reason why a dremel is suggested is because it’s cheap (in terms of tools), it’s simple to use, it’s veratile (hundreds of attachments), and it’s fast.

EDIT: final, they should not be turning at all because the bolts have a square base underneath the head. That square base fits into a square hole in the top panel. There is no reason the bolts should be turning aside from some major damage to the bolt or panel holes. You will have some trouble getting them off is this is the case. The only thing I can think of is holding the bottom of the bolt with some pliers and simultanelously turning the nut, but with the limited space it will be difficult.
