Tekken 5. Evo 2k5. Japan Vs. Korea. The showdown

Actually, that was Kenbou (not Nobu) who got 3rd at Evo2003.

-Nicholai!

This is like–the Mr. Random of Tekken or something, hahah.

why even bother talking about tekken at srk?

Tooryah!

lotta ppl on Ryan Hart’s nuts. He’s good, but him and only about 3 others that I KNOW OF are “great” and the rest are just practice dummies for those 4. Until they prove otherwise, Korea owns them.

T4 the list was Korea, USA, Europe, Japan
TTT it was more like Korea, Japan, USA, Europe

I have a feeling T5 will see Korea as the top again. They just are so good at certain games. Starcraft, FPS games, and Tekkens…as where Japan owns everyone for free in traditional 2D games and USA pwns in the “wacky” genre. Europe is good in all of the above, but not better then their respective counterparts.

Also kenbou and MDJ placed top 8 in tag (maybe even top 4 dunno about mdj) and these guys came for tekken 4.

I don’t know who moved this but it was a pretty stupid choice since this has absolutely nothing to do with Evo2k4 and has something to do with evo 2k5 but more about what people think is going to happen when Korea meets a serious Japan in Tekken.

But w/e back on topic.

I think we’ve always used the same evo forum and just changed the year. I don’t think there’s much to say abour evo2k4 now anyway, viva 2k5, year of the Jaguar.

Even still, the thread has received a lot less discussion then it would have had it still be where it was. I was hoping to get far more discussion and opinions on what might be one of the biggest country rivalries ever, and to hype it up amongst us.

It wasn’t getting any meaningful discussion in the first place.

If you really wanted in depth discussion about this, then like one of the earlier posts, you should’ve taken this to Tekken Zaibatsu or tragic’s Tekken.net.

While this may be a street fighter site, it clearly states that other fighting games can be discussed(it even says namco on the forum description), so If I wanted to discuss it here there should be no opposition, and while I am not saying there is opposition to that Idea I feel many members have grown intolerant to the possibility of discussing something outside of their beloved Street Fighter.

I suppose you may be correct, but for what it’s worth I do find this to be a worthy topic to consider.

I don’t really think that’s the case. I mean we have a few threads that are outside of SF.

There’s Smash Brothers, Mortal Kombat, Melty Blood React, Eternal Fighter Zero, SFEX, KOF.

OC

Koreans dont really like FPS games. They have very few talented players, but not many play to promote comp.

Even CS isnt as popular as US/Europe.

alls I know is i heard about some Korean cats who could skunkinate ppl in CS and UT…=P Mighta been inaccurate or not in tourney play but still…they beat some big name players.

Oh well, got off subject haha!!

-KDX-

Dont listen to kdx, he’s sucks at tekken :P.

-_-

sup holmes.

Well I’m a korean, and I go there every summer and winter during the breaks and this is what I can say.

KBM really isn’t anything in korea. I went to the arcade in Yong-San where KBM plays with other koreans there, and he gets owned in mathces that take place after 8pm. (the arcade KBM plays is just 2 subway stations from Yong-San)

Usually in the arcades the real GOSU tekken players, who are usually salary-men come to arcades to kick butt from 8pm-to-however long the arcades open.

These people have jobs and they play daily but cannot support themselves to travel for tourneys and such because they have a main-job.
On the other hand. It is true that koreans in general ( even a 5year ) will kick your butt in Tekken, if your knowledge of the game is so-so.

I played tag during the summer of 2003 in seoul ( Yong-san = largest gaming gray-market in the planet)and I got owned by little 10year olds o_O…
They all do that stupid double relaunch laser scrapper thingy with Jin and Kazuya I suck at tekken in the first place…altho I am picking up Tek5.

But one thing is sure…better players than KBM don’t have the financial stability to travel and such to show off their names. Korea is still widely gapped between the very RICH and the very POOR.

And another thing…arcades are daily social places in korea and japan.

Yoshi21 is very true on that subject. Koreans don’t play CS as much as you’d think from a point of view here.

Starcraft is still the #1 game, having the most-televised tourneys and viewers. (Starleague = NFL).

Koreans prefer to play Rainbow Six series…cause it’s alot more in depth. Otherthan that, the generic groups are rich night club going snobs, book worms, or MMO freaks. <—at least until they settle down… <----never mind, settled down adults have a second life “Lineage2, RFOnline, GunJu, WoW, etc…etc…”

OH yea KDX- Jap don’t OWN in every 2-D, Hong-Kong and Korea are always either 1st or 2nd in KOF.

Well anyways…whoever said MDJ is japanese…very funny…my applause.

VF evo? plz don’t talk trash about that game cause you’re not good at it. I respect anyone who can play that game at a competitive level!

Let’s not forget! They had VF2 schools in Japan.

And whoever said TTT korea vs. Jap vids…I wanna see those. Must be a hard-core laughter seeing one korean own them all (japanese players).
