Tekken 5. Evo 2k5. Japan Vs. Korea. The showdown

All who have been following Tekken since it’s inception know that Korea has been pretty much the innovator and dominator of Tekken almost in it’s entirety. This year we saw the triumph of englishman Ryan Hart at EVO, but despite this Korea is still the location from which the players to beat emerge. However, it cannot be ignored that Japan has largely ignored Tekken in favor of Virtua fighter and as a result we have seen fewer dedicated players emerge from the land of the rising sun…until now. Tekken 5 has finnally gotten the attention of serious Japanese fighting gamers, and it seems that they will make a run at the Tekken world crown. Will the hordes of dedicated Japanese players claim the thrown, or will Korea still have a literal Iron Fist on the Tekken Franchise? The excitement is piercing.

Wow, the way you wrote it makes me want to see it, and I dont even play VF or Tekken

Kim Bong Min wasn’t even really the best Korea had to offer.
But yeah I’ve been following the tekken scene since Tag, and Koreans are just insane. Even when you watch matches of randoms (not even famous players) the level of skill is amazing, and other players have their own techniques that are uniquely theirs.

Ryan Hart can still obviously hold his own, but I think the competition in Korea just gives them that edge.

As for the Japanese, I’ve always respected their players for innovating in the less popular characters. I think it was Nobu who came third in Evo2k3 using Lei/King. In a tourney where all you saw where Mishimas and Ogres, that’s very admirable.

FYI, none of the Korean National players were at Evo 2k4.

And in a more important area, a “get well soon” goes out to Ryan Hart:

Ermmm…WTF? This year KBM wasn’t at EVO. If your talking about Evo2k3, then still no KBM beat Ryan Hart in the tournament, it’s the bet first to 25 for $300 that Ryan Hart won at Evo2k3 vs KBM.

And yes, KBM isn’t a god, their are many other players in Korea. KBM is just one who travellled to Evo. Same with Japanese players, the only player that has actually travelled for Tekken that I know of is Kenbou, their are many others who are not represented at Evo. Like the Mainstreet Crew, all of them.

The only way we could truly figure out who the best of the best Tekken players are to either send all the best US and Euro players to either Japan or Korea. Something I’d wish would happen… hehe

Ok guys thx for the heads up, although I was certain that various sources reported that Ryan Hart beat Kim Bong Min I suppose I was wrong, Sorry about that. Now back to what the thread is about.

Who knows, the only way to find out is if each of the best players travels here and plays.

TTT Korea vs Japan vids was awesome. Hehe, Jang Iksu against all Japanese Tag players.

My idea for Tekken 5 tournament on Evo2k5: Korea vs Japan vs US vs Europe(team league).

WTF!!! yo demon wateva, seroiusly ya know nothing bout Tekken…
heck!!! that what we want this year, not only stupid VF trash talk and noobs but highly ignorence who they think they are clever!

there’s no such a thing as Korea the best, or american or whatever ya mean…yes, korea were known by there high abilities in tekken, but there are billion people at the same level and even better…Heck,by the way,i am one of the people that proven and can prove that KBM is not something at all…huh,i can prove that even maddogjin is more profational!!(yup,KBM ma bitch)

heck, one of the most stupid tekken thread ever…go to TZ or something, get a room!

America isn’t THAT bad at tekken though…are they?

America might be, but STL isn’t.

USA have awsome Tekken players!

T4 Evo2k4 champ was US. KidJin… Korea has good players are slightly ahead, but not that far that they dominate everything. EWGF + LS gave the koreans crazy advantage. They basically EWGF/LS thier way to championships in TTT. Not this time around… well maybe till D.Jin gets released.

NO.

JinKid did not win Evo2k4. He placed second behind Jackie Tran in Tekken4.

All bets are off in Tekken5 so far, a lot of the good players from east coast and Europe did not care for tekken 4 and stayed true to Tekken Tag. Now Tekken 5 is out and it’s a very similar experience to Tag…

In America Cali dominates in numbers, but Texas and Atlanta have proven to have a hardcore and talented game base. The rest of the country is sparse at best.

As far as our pals on the other side of the Pacific, my vote goes to the Koreans, and besides, let’s not forget that the Jesus Christ of Tekken4 (MadDogJin) is a Japanese player…

T5 is a new game, too. Things could be different…i guess we should wait for Evo2K5 to really see.

maddogjin is korean

Why is there a showdown between two non-USA teams at the usa’s largest event.
Funk that, i wanna see marvel USA vs the world, and 3s USA chuns vs japan, the end.

EDIT: ok not the end, if us ppl are good at tekken then that can beat some people up too, korea, japan, whatever.

This thread makes me cry.

u.s. is all around better than japan at tekken

MDJ is Korean

There is no “slap forehead” smiley is there?

My bad

Lol

I find it pretty funny that someone said Maddogjin was Japanese. lololol
