I’m bumpin this thread because nobody is showing tekken love anymore and it’s the only game i play
Tekken pretty much died out completely in my area… now everyone is back to playing MVC2, CVS2, KOF, or 3S. I wonder wtf happened…
im still in tokyo japan after evo…tekken comp here is solid, and abundant. lots of good players, of course lots of scrubs too, but i can always find competition anytime. my win loss ratio is the same as usa, around 53 percent after 400+ games, with a lot of wins being against random scrubs and me getting completely demolished by some of the crews like the no respect team etc etc.
i think i can say that this game is definetely one of the top 3 games in japanese arcades, shit is everywhere. i dont think i found a arcade that didnt have either tekken, vf5, or that gundam game, i think its gundamn vs zaft? or some other variation.
i tried to take some matches here with my camera, theyre done but the match cuts off before it finishes =/
Where is the Hwoarang love?!?
Tell me what changed with him, because 5.0 is the last Tekken I played semi-regularly. Since no one here plays SF, Tekken is the only fighting game with people playing it…
which arcades are you hitting up sabin? joybox is amazing, and random americans will roll through at like 5PM, like i did.
tetsuo, asano and ranca are my japanese idols
How you feelin’ that good ol JPN comp bro? Hit me up. =p Now you see why I have forsaken NYC?
I’ll be in Tokyo from the 20th-25th for Tokyo Game Show, are you sticking around that long? I wanna see how your scrubby ass Jack has gotten better. =p
i use this, and its done wonders for me control wise and its prevented alot of strain and added lots of hours of gameplay on my game.

shinobidj - how do you get to joybox actually from the jr line? i was looking for that place but i didnt find it yet, i hit up a few spots in shibuya/shinjuku actually, most recently i hit up taito game station in shibuya which has like 5 dr cabinets back to back, its pretty good, just im not feeling the 100 yen price haha.
for the most part ive been playing in my area, nishi-ogikubo which i guess is like a suburb of tokyo…they have 2 small arcades for 50 yen back to back in the train station that i play at. come isnt always fierce but good players do head here sometimes so i dont need to travel to the city.
l33tv1n33t - those are all lei players right? ive been watching them on tekken.net tv but i havent gotten to play them…those foos are sick
kaneda - im still quite scrubby.

and yeah, i see why you left. but its funny, one local 50 yen arcade in my area is as grimy as cf, lol, i should take some photos before i bounce.
uhh, i probably wont be around then, i have to get back to usa cause im missing school! i was late for my flight though so im still here lol…but if im still here ill let you know
lei players indeed.
my friend came back from taiwan recently and said that besides kof2k2 and 11 this was the most played game in the arcades he went to…
Pretty much. Which is why they would own us in KOF (albeit we don’t even play) and they would put up a good fight in tekken since their Tekken scene is pretty tightnit, not like the States where people have to drive 6 hours to so-cal just to play different peeps.
this is 5.0 I think, but a pretty cool exhibition vid.

This game is still pretty hot in Texas,
Im No1 Kuma in Texas
i rule
Yo, I’m a struggling Kuma player in TX. Could you give me some tips other than “Pick another character?”:wonder:
Learn more gimmicks? lol There’s not much else TO do with the bear. Check out the Kuma section on TZ for some pointers, but don’t be expecting to get much further than Expert with him.
move to houston
move to houston is a good tip for any scene watch really
Thanks for all of the relpies, but I was actually hoping that Hot topic Trash would reply, or even look on the Kuma threads in Zaibatsu. A joke gone bad on my part. Oh well.
Jokes aside, I’ll answer my own question:
When poking with Kuma, use f+1, and that’s it. Going for the whole string will get you launched. If you get a CH f+1, you get another f+1 for free. The same applies if you get a CH f+2. f+1 is the longest 8 frame jab in the game, and will land a hit after blocking many attacks that are -8 on block, but no other 8 frame jab character can reach. You can also dash with f+1, giving you another option when in full crouch.
Use d/b+2 sparingly. Even though you may feel that you can nickel and dime with this move due to its low damage, you don’t want to use it when your opponent is at a sliver of life left. d/b+2 or back dash and don’t try to be greedy.
Use 2,1,3 after a wall spat only. You can only gimmick that move for so long.
Use f,f+2 wisely. It’s still very punishable on block, but two f,f+2 juggles will secure the round.
d/f+2 can crush 8 frame jabs and most 10 frame jabs when kuma is at -2 disadvantage.
That’s pretty much it. Getting wins aren’t easy, but it’s more than possible to win with Kuma in DR than in 5.0
EDIT:
I live in Killeen, so I’ll definately be rolling to Houston in the near future.
Houston will set you straight for tekken. no joke
