Yeah, EL (one of the local top Tekken players) mentioned it on Facebook as well. Says he plans to torrent the thing then burn the laptop he watches it on afterwards.
Gathering my friends and making them watch the first movie and this back to back, no phones allowed, no leaving, true iron fist style. I get to relive the injustices delivered by the first movie all over again.
So it was even worse than imagined. I GUARANTEE this movie was filmed as ‘generic action movie vehicle’, and then later had 4 scenes edited in…4 FUCKING SCENES added with Cary Tagawa and the words “Tekken” after it finished filming. This fucking movie has 0% to do with Tekken at all, and half of it is fucking slo-mo walking and flashbacks to pointless scenes during the movie. On top of having no characters FROM Tekken (save Kazuya, Heihachi for 1 collective minute, and a man named “Fury” for 15 seconds… the story made NO SENSE and you’ll just have to see it and suffer like I did, just to believe it was made.
I dunno what I expected, but it did not exceed my already next to non-existent expectations…it somehow subverted them!
If you need this in your collection because you NEED to own everything that bears the word “Tekken” on the box (like I do), please wait until this hits the $1 bin… trust me, it won’t take long. It makes the first Tekken film seem like a canonical masterpiece!
…which means now we don’t have to waste money to see how badly it sucks.
Yep, sucks pretty bad. It’s just a modern-day kung-fu movie with Hiroyuki Tagawa as Heihachi minus the hairstyle at the end. No attempts to make anybody look or fight like their counterparts in the game…in fact, it seems like the only people from the game in this shit are Heihachi and (I think) Steve Fox. There’s a random white chick cosplaying as Xiaoyu during a fight scene at a baseball stadium, but all she does is suck a lollypop. Tekken Blood Vengeance was a 10+ compared to this.
to be honest I’m surprised you don’t understand why the art style is like that, if you’re a hired artist in a company surely you would know (no offense)
btw I keep reading Hollywood as Bollywood on first glance of the thread title
