Added this updated image, might be more along the lines of what people want to see…

Ok I removed the comic sans from the website and slimmed down the main graphic as well as did a bunch of re aligning please check it out and let me know if this headed in the right direction…

As always thanks for your time to assist me…

http://tefightstands.com/

Ive also been working on a slimmer version of the Solo stand made with MDF here is the concept work so far.

http://tefightstands.com/concepts/slim/slimsoloconcept.jpg

I added an open slot to the base to slide a weight into it.

The site looks much better now, but still kinda late-90s/early '00s.

Unless you are affiliated with MadCatz I suggest you remove there logo from your site.
It considered bad form and it gives MadCatz reason to send you angry letters from their lawyers.

Nothing stopping you from making TE stands, or even saying these stands are designed for the TE. That is just fair game, using copyrighted/trademarked logos are not.

Also tip for your website: smaller images/ logos lose the white outline, it makes it look like a 90s geocities site.

You can probability draw more customers if you have some stands that are compatible with more arcade sticks than the MadCatz TE. Maybe a more Universal design.

I doubt they would come after me for free advertising, all of the images link directly to MadCatz site as I dont sell Mad Catz TE Fight Sticks I want someone who doesnt know what they are, to be able to get one.

I don’t know what this white outline your referring to is, I did slim down my logo, maybe you need to clear your cache…
Whats wrong with the late 90’s? thats when I was growing up, and going to arcades… back when we still had an arcade, part of what the product I sell is intended to do is bring those memories of being in the arcade. I think that style of my site is fine.

The website states the dimensions can be changed, but I spelled it out a little better on the main site and highlighted it in yellow.

This isn’t how trademarks work. Regardless of how it’s used, a trademark can only legally be used by or with permission by the owner. If you want to operate like a reputable business, you can’t just “assume” it’ll be alright because you think you’re benefitting them. That’s up for MadCatz to decide, not you.

Maybe their PR department doesn’t want their logo to be displayed prominently on a 90’s looking website, right? Even if you and everyone else thinks it looks fine, that’s not the point - that’s MadCatz decision to make, not yours.

You are correct. And if anyone contacts me to remove it I would without any hesitation…

I sent them a tweet asking if it was ok to have their logo and links as i do.

Started doing some work with MDF,

Angled cuts came out pretty nice.

This more along the lines of what your suggesting?

The base is a $40 table base from IKEA that is 27 1/5 inches tall and the top adds 4 inches so this is right at 31 /15 inches tall.
(specified height for design)

Why did you use so many screws glue with wood biscuits

the only issue I have is the bulk its so large are you dead set on having the stand cup the fight stick? TE is already weighs enough and if you have problems with it moving during play you could always put divots where the feet go

The top section you have in the picture makes your setup larger than an actual viewlix

I just feel like if you want to purchase a stand you want something more compact at the right height if not you can just use a coffee table or tray table less is more

What are you looking to make something to adapt to a ikea table? just wondering since you implied this by putting the price of the table

This stand is being custom built for a customer, its made to fit the VLX, and the base he found on the IKEA website and I went and picked it up. I also use alot of screws because I dont want my stands falling apart… those screws also have wood filler and glue on top of them so they wont work their way out with vibrations.

Im working on a smaller version of the adjustable solo stand for situations like your talking but that is going to have to wait a little bit.
There is a link to the concept art of it on my main page http://tefightstands.com/

Ive also thought about incorporating the divot in the rubber foot spot. The akuma stand I made before allows you to lift the lid and screw the foot screws through the lid into the bottom of the TE, then the lid screws into the top via a metal wall anchor screw so those sticks wont budge because yes, some of us 360 smash that @#$@ when we play, me being probably the worst offender you will ever meet.

Its an option to make shipping cheaper, if you can find a base you like that breaks down and can be shipped cheaper Ill go get it and build a top to fit it, or you get the stand and give me dimensions and ill build a box that matches and build around it. and for $40 that is not a bad base, has room to stick a couple sticks or some games or something.

First of all, I would like to say that I like your idea and initiative you are taking with this. I realized that buying or building an arcade cabinet at home to get the nostalgic standing experience of playing fighting games was not practical or affordable for me at the moment. So I got interested in looking for a stand/pedestal/table was between 37”-40” in height to put my arcade joysticks on. I am in no way handy with tools or wood working, and I don’t have space to even do it. I wanted to something that was pre built. I have a Mortal Kombat TE sticks and Qanba Q4 that I interchange when gaming. The only products I could find were the following:

Xtension Arcade Pedestal $299

Critique: X-Arcade. Xtension products was made to go to together with X-Arcade products. Their products are great for who just want to play simple MAME games on the X-Arcade, but fighting games needed better parts. It would be great if they made brackets for Madcatz TE, but I highly doubt since they probably have some contract with X-Arcade.

Dream Arcades $1999
http://www.dreamarcades.com/vision32.shtml

Critique: This product comes with a control panel (probably cheap parts) and a computer included with games, a complete package, but is very expensive for what you get.

North Coast Custom Arcade $197
http://www.mameroom.com/Products_DeluxeStand_Kit.asp

Critique: This product is priced reasonably, I like that it has a simple color scheme. They expect you to buy their own control panel (expensive) to fit into their stand. I don’t know if they are willing to do custom dimensions.

Kraylix Arcade** $495**
http://www.kraylixarcade.com/klx_kit.html

Critique: None really. Sure it costs more, but it’s a really polished product compared to yours (it looks professional). They make amazing products that cater to the fighting game community at reasonable prices. If I were to buy from them I would probably need custom work done, since I prefer to stand when playing, and I don’t have a Hori VLX stick too.

Here’s what I would suggest doing to improve your products:

  • Instead painting the wood you are using, I would use black or white ¾ melamine wood. It will look way more polished and professional than the painting you have now. For people who want something different than the clean and simple look, you can encourage people to pay for an “upgrade” such as adding plexi-glass and pictures of their choice on certain sides of the unit.
  • Explain/market the reasons why using a “stand” is better. Most gamers sit on the couch and have their arcade stick on their lap or table, this is an already a comfortable thing that most people are doing already and the Vewlix is a sit down unit. You must sell the idea to customers that it’s “more fun”/”beneficial” to be standing up when playing fighting games. I personally enjoy standing up while playing fighting games because of the nostalgic memories of upright arcade machines. Also when you standing up, you are burning calories. You can sell the idea that TE Stand can also help the overweight players lose weight. Just look at this success story with playing WOW; http://www.lrn2fitness.com/ . That guy lost 150 lbs playing games while walking on a treadmill. This could be an interesting marketing opportunity to build a TE Stand for Marn (no offense here, just used as a simple example), if that guy lost just only 50 lbs from using a TE Stand built for a treadmill you could potentially get more overweight customers that want to lose weight to buy your product and you could potentially change many lives too!

melamine wood AKA partical board with cheap Veneer STAY AWAY!

No offence Voodoo but you should not give wood tips if you dont know anything about wood

melamine wood will chip with the quickness its only slightly ok for cheap furniture thats left in the comer never to be touched or moved. If he wanted a easy way to get a great finish he can use veneer over whatever type of wood

not only will melamine wood rip apart there’s a good chance it wont even make it to the buyers house without getting broken and not to mention cutting that stuff will kill the poor boy. God save him if he forgets to wear a mask, all that damn glue

First off Holy crap your good at the internet! Your last Link was the only think I found when looking to see if anyone sold a stand like what I had made for myself to use. Only thing I found was the high end stand and figured with these rough times, who could afford that much on a stand? I personally dont mind the particle board and paint/clear coat look, but i really suck at fighting games and i beat the crap out of my stand…salty rage…
but, I came here, asked for feedback and i completely understand that some people want a cleaner polished look, which is why Ive been uping my game, I took all the advice from here and am working with @Bad_Boy_Brazil on twitter, (a long time follower I could never convince to buy a stand) on a design of something to meet the quality he wants.
Here is the concept art he approved

http://tefightstands.com/concepts/badboybrazil/BadBoyBrazil%20-%20Final%20Accepted%20copy.jpg

and here is where i am on it so far, first 2 coats of primer on and have started sanding them super slow with 400grit sand paper (waiting on the 600,800,1000,1500) thats in the mail as our local stores were out of anything that high: If anyone wants to learn how to get that sick finish, [S]@[/S]donovanmyers did a sick tutorial video for it, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxBDuH3nqfQ&feature=colike

http://tefightstands.com/concepts/badboybrazil/Build/first2coatsofprimer.JPG

here it is on its $40 stand from IKEA it was designed around. its on a towel right now but in the end that will be red felt on the inside of the bottom, its the same on the bottom as the top and fits right over the base. There will also be plexi and inserts to insert down in the top to make it fit around the different size sticks to prevent moveing.

http://tefightstands.com/concepts/badboybrazil/CIMG3249.JPG

Stay tuned for the final product or i might update on here along the way if people want.

Also your feedback skills, amazing.

I will look into implementing alot of your suggestions though I dont know Marn, to ask if he would want one.

Hah my grandfather was a shop teacher for decades I always wear my safety gear…

Ill do custom whatever… If I can figure out how to model it, break that model down into board cuts that are doable by myself or my neighbor (being the more skilled) Ill try and build it, as long as its not to big unless you plan on picking it up…shipping is a pita…
