Also for anyone wondering, the IKEA stand is here http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40162496/#/20162497/ comes in Red, White, or Black and is only $40, the design isnt quite as stable as the TE but should work for the less crazy mashing players, or just put some heavy stuff in the shelves below.
If in the end this looks like the concept art and has the really nice finish, how much would you say I should sell the tops for? Im not here to get rich, I just want to make cool stuff for people and enjoy what I do.
No offense taken. I will admit, I am not an expert on wood. I have actually used melamine wood for a couple pieces of simple of furniture, and it has been sturdy enough, which is why I made the suggestion.
Honestly I am not a fan of the way the IKEA stand looks, the compartments/holes look bad. I would prefer the bottom part to be all covered, or a three shelf book look, but that would effect sturdiness. The only fair way to give you a honest price estimate is to see an actual photo of the finished product. I look forward to seeing the final result!
I don’t know the guy either, but I know he is a very talented fighting game player and is quite popular on the internet when it comes to comedy/jokes. The problem here is that personal appearance (or weight loss) can be a very subjective and grey area topic, and it can be quite uncomfortable for anybody to approach him about the idea for this project without sounding very rude/insulting.
Figured I would update this with where I am at, finally got the higher grit sandpapers in, I might be doing to much sanding but I just want to be thorough this first time around this painting style. Before and after 600 grit sandpaper super slow.
Started on the white. these are when there were about 3 or 4 light coats on each side and the reverse side, its at about 12 on each side and the reverse side now.
Thats a pretty sweet setup for around $500 its shape is kind of awkward but I like it.
ide rather use a te stick though, or some of these other new sticks coming out like the hitbox, or the eightarc, have the option to switch what kind of setup I have.
I also like to move around sometimes while I play and rage out over salty losses or celebrate victories. Other times I just want to sit on the couch and play but dont like the TE slipping around in my lap, which is why I made the stands I made.
