finally people are coming around to realize its not a bad kids movie.
watched it again. Was a decent flick and would watch again with my son when he gets older.
Does anybody here watch Nick’s TMNT? It’s pretty good, there should be a thread for that or at least re-purpose this thread to be used for all things TMNT-related.
Well that’s my opinion anyways…
I watched the first season. I thought it was very good.
Meh, aside from Shredder and Karai, the bad guys are too goofy and kiddie. The plots need better writers, or just need to be better overall. The Krang are boring, annoying, and repetitive…good concept, but they just make no damn sense in execution: they barely speak english and have no money…why hasn’t law enforcement noticed them? You can’t just take over an abandoned building and pimp it out without anybody from the city asking wtf you’re doing on property you don’t own. But this is for kids, so “hurfadurf, they talk funny lolz”. Overall the series suffers from a feel of going nowhere, because its been shown that kids and long-reaching plots don’t mix. The eps need to be self-contained and episodic cuz kids have the recall of goldfish. Allow this show to keep going for 10 years and it still will have gotten nowhere for just that reason. If they were to animate the IDW comic, it would destroy this crap…but it’s for children, not for us. Kids and really desperate adult fans love it, the rest of us just have to either stick with the comics or turn off our brains and stomach this. I did like the movie…but that was made on the basis that one of the turtles, not the viewer, was an immature lackwit. There was no real pandering to any age demographic.
I liked how the Turtles looked. I don’t know if they had to be over 6’ beasts that clearly can’t fit in sewer holes, but the mutated, grungy look was great. Jeez everything else man. I don’t know why so many Hollywood movies cast middle-aged Asian women with purple highlights. And I wonder if they could have come up with another way to tackle the origin, if the comic version wasn’t working. Either one is hard to take seriously.
This wasn’t a Bay movie, because the action setpieces were just inferior to what he’s capable of. You look at The Rock’s use of paramilitary, Bad Boys II’s car chases, TF3’s Driller building disaster… none of the comparable action scenes in this movie compares. The fight choreography was good for what it was.
But this was clearly meant for kids and early teens, so let them have fun with it and wait 15 years later for some joykill to tell them that their favorite childhood movie sucked.
I think this movie was bad. Not terrible, but bad. Thought Donnie with the glasses was dumb, the drama with epinephrine, but the icing on the cake was learning martial arts through an entire series of books. Was it Bruce Lee’s personal collection or something?
Sighs this thread needs more… non-movie turtles.

How can this get worse?
Raph was a leader in the comic as well and considerably more violent.
