The villains have been fleshed out in the original run and IDW series. They didn’t even try to make anyone in the cast interesting…like literally everyone outside the turtles were terrible.
This is the last im gonna answer these questions. all further questions can be directed to my manager stumiz buster. he will be answering all further stupid questions because im blocking you after this one.
ive already pointed out in the past she is a far more active character in comics…as well as cartoon. for most of the cartoon career april and casey were really the only main human interactions. everyone else was shitty background shallow characters til the show moved to cbs.
the new cartoon focuses heavillllyyy on april as well. she should be a big focus, she is a scientist/computer wiz in the comics(assistant to baxter stockman), had she actually had this in the movies instead of reporter she’d have a far bigger role. being how the turtles are genetic/alien freaks.
its also funny how everyone bitches about megan fox being eye candy for years and now she actually gets a real role and its all “fuck michael bay…why is april such a big thing”. lol…this is a major fuck up from the previous movie series…because they basically wrote less and less scenes for her. turtles 2 i watched the other night and she actually had about 2-3 scenes. the very beginning and when keno looks for the guys after raph got kidnapped. that was the last time you saw her.
also, the 90s turtles movies are heavily a boy thing…its clear producers in nick are involved. at least to me its apparent the nick owners made a statement for april to play a far bigger role in this generation. being that females are having a much stronger voice. alot of nicks fanbase are female…probably more than male these days.
so sum up…yes i am fine with april being a big part of the turtles lore. she always had played a huge role. stop jerkin off to the 80s cartoon and 90s movies.
editors note: i always lose my shit intenally when people say 80s movie. it was a 90s movie and 80s cartoon.
Some people reviewed it with already low expectations though, expecting it to be a dumb fun action movie with the
"TMNT" brand on it. How did that work out? Turns out those guys were right.
Other reviewers? They were grading it in comparison with plenty other summer blockbuster movies that actually were much better, or at least previous TMNT movies/series that have done better overall than the current movie. Compare this movie in either criteria and it’s more than likely gonna lose out.
For some this new TMNT movie may be something to sit-out until it comes to Netflix or is shown on cable TV. If there are legitimately better movies in theaters to pay good money for, then bad reviews like these actually help those who pay attention to those kinds of things.
Who isn’t surprised? TMNT is a known certainty among the all-ages mass market. A decades-old brand of comics, cartoons and toys still going strong means the movie is going to make bank no matter how bad reviews are.
GOTG is a first-timer with good reviews, word-of-mouth, and Marvel/Disney marketing power. I’d say that it did pretty damn good at the box office for what it is, and will do even better when a sequel drops.
to add to that…i didnt feel guardians was a kid friendly movie. nick is heavily involved in the new turtles franchise and has really made it kid friendly to balance out the attempt at grittyness. so its easy to see which one you should take your kids to see.
he didnt even attempt at a logical response. he just cried cause i didnt agree with his point…based on actual factual data. countdown til he gets banned again begins.
Anyone that payed to see this movie and didn’t expect for it to be Megan Fox making dumb faces in front of a blue screen(filled with explosions) is a total idiot.
Except some people here have actually read the source material and know exactly why this movies focus on April is a problem. April was always a spectator and a way for the audience to be introduced to the turtles…she was never the main event or main attraction.
New TMNT movie is just bad no matter how you slice it. Yeah the movie did a good job on the turtles with there personalities, We saw Splinter fighting and kicking ass, and the overall fights were pretty good. Everything else was terrible. The plot was convoluted and convenient for no reason. The ending was straight ripped from Amazing Spiderman 1. This need to have everything “connected” felt so forced. Karai was useless, Foot clan being mercenaries was dumb, and Shredder was just there in the background. You never felt that he had much of a presence unless he was in the battle suit.
When I mentioned “canon” earlier, I did not mean to start a shitstorm… As has already been pointed out multiple times, the Turtles’ canon is all over the place to begin with.
As long as Leonardo is a stoic, vanilla leader with confidence issues, Raphael a rage-a-holic asshole who thinks he should be in charge, Donatello a smart guy that makes all their stuff, and Michelangelo a spastic, wise-cracker, with feat of athleticism and wit, who all take orders from a talking ninja rat, then that’s all the canon you need.
I do have a problem with the Foot not being ninjas, and Shredder looking like a Decepticon, but hey, we all marked for Super Shredder, so do we really have that much to complain about.
Making Megan “I can only make the same face with slight variations” Fox the centerpiece of the film is probably a mistake, but again, I can’t speak too deeply until I see the film, which it looks like won’t be for a while, judging by the way my circle and you guys have reacted to the movie.
