laughs You thought this movie sucked (even though you haven’t seen it)…tmnt Stage 2 alone would fuck up your hopes so bad that this movie would look like the golden trinity of Blade Runner, the first Ghostbusters, and Big Trouble in Little China.
It’s weird that they keep trying to pin shit on Bay when it comes to tmnt yet all of the changes to the tmnt for the movie were pitched by Eastman and Laird.
I read IGN’s review and… it’s what I expected. I’m talking about a stupid plot, ignorable humans, decent turtle interactions, and a few good bouts of action.
Oh, and apparently they’re called ninjas because they know martial arts, but aren’t so great at sneaking around or using deception tactics.
Wanna see a genuinely good movie and not waste money? Don’t see it.
Got some extra cash laying around and can’t think of a better way to kill time? Then go to a theater near you and knock yourself out…
LOL at recommending what people should see or not see based off an interview from ign of all places, rather then actually having seen it yourself and could give your own proper opinion on the movie.
Also, when i type teenage mutant ninja turtles into google, 3 reviews immediately pop up, not including the mentioned ign review. So it seems the reviews are flooding in today for those who want to put the opinions of people who you likely shouldnt be putting your trust in when it comes to deciding to see tmnt, or any movie for that matter.
I’m only super weary of opinions for tmnt because everyone out there seems to have this made up love affair for the tmnt, and all these wild expectations of what they should be, based mostly off of tmnt 2, not even the first one, or the forgettable third one, and the cartoon that no one should be taking anything from for making a movie. Most of these people never read the comic, or probably even knew it had one before a few months ago, nor do they care about the varying degrees of the characters and plots of the comic vs how it was portrayed in the cartoon, and first few movies.
I dont know, im super sold on the movie from the trailers, and am looking forward to huge badass ninja turtles who can fling the foot around no problem.
Everyone who thinks the source material of tmnt is that god awful 80’s cartoon shouldn’t watch it cause they’ll hate it cause it’s not their turtles.
I don’t give a shit about those fans at all. Same goes to the people who think Secret of the Ooze was a good movie. It wasn’t. Get over it.
Each new version of something we enjoy will always piss off “purists” or whatever you want to call it. But that new version will also bring in new fans who will hopefully enjoy it and look into their new something they enjoy and hope there is more to it.
Now with my said statements I probably come off as a purist. I don’t think I am though. For the time they were in, I enjoyed the 80’s cartoon. I LOVED Secret of the Ooze. I can recite that movie from first page to last.
But I also am capable of taking off those nostalgia goggles and realizing they were garbage. But at the same time, each version of the turtles got to add something to the generation that comes after it.
Which is why the 2003 series was so fucking amazing. It was very close to the comics while taking the past generations of the turtles and adding bits and pieces of all of them (even the Archie comic) to make the 2003 tmnt it’s own unique universe that was very well received.
I’m still looking forward to this movie. Seeing with a group of friends this Friday after work. I’m going to take it for what it is and enjoy it. Because everything I’ve seen so far looks great.
