If you play on pad, EWGF is so easy it’s kind of stupid. If you use L1/LB instead of R1/RB it’s almost 100%. Since you’re using one hand your timing will be much tighter. Very VERY rarely you’ll see an EX, but that’s not the worst thing that could happen.
As for stick, since mine is still destroyed I haven’t got much practice in. However I did notice judging by the button click noise helped much more than anything else. Mute the game, and listen to your buttons. This helps more than just about anything else.
I think the easiest way to get it down is to just do it the proper way and learn to do it consistently… I’m about 1500 EWGF’s into a personal challenge of 10,000 and I can do them pretty much 80% of the time and almost always know what i did wrong when it doesn’t come out.
I think the hardest part is developing an awareness of the timing for pressing the attack button – once you accustom yourself to pressing MP or HP “early” it becomes stupidly easily. I can almost do the full Mr. Naps combo (EWGF, s.HP xx EWGF, s.HP xx EWGF, s.HP xx EWGF, EWGF) at this point.
For me, I’ve been doing one on the P1 side, one of the P2 side in alternation (jumping over between.) Sometimes just to change the pace I do 50 on one side and then 50 on the other, or alternate in 10s.
I’m literally just watching movies on my laptop and grinding towards 10,000 EWGFs preformed. Every 100 milestone I feel like they become more and more consistently. Funny, I’m up to 80%, as I mentioned, from like 10% on yesterday.
I’m back to using a stick after a short stint of using a hitbox so yeah.

You’re probably not pressing MP/HP fast enough. The ‘shortcut’ only works if you press DF on the same frame as MP/HP. Check your inputs, if you did EWGF correctly the first DF input you get will also be accompanied by a MP/HP input.<br>

Yes, you will always have to include neutral. So the input is F, N, DF+MP/HP.<br><br>EWGF can be done as if you were doing a shoryu as long as you include the neutral input (F, N, D, DF as opposed to just F, D, DF).<br>
Just started playing kazuya for the first time and out of curiosity and from an idea that came to mind I tried to learn his EWGF. *relatively new to SFxT as well
I play on a hitbox
First thing I did for the first 10-30 mins was input the mist step the regular way; forward, neutral, down, down-forward. Wasn’t really get any.
Then I thought…Well what if I hit the forward and then HOLD it, then hit back so that it forces a neutral input. Then let go of back and immediately hit down so that I get the down input and the forward input afterwards.
Tried it and it felt funky but eventually I was getting some EWGFs here and there. When I optimized the motion with some practice, it was sorta like a half circle forward but while holding forward.
Then I tried different timings and added plinking, I started only getting EX EWGFs and EWGFs and raw crouching mediums and crouching fierces. No WGFs at all.
It was pretty consistent for the first 3 hours of practice for my oddly enough and im absolutely ass at execution. and at the game. I mean… I drop hugo’s links all the time so the fuck man.
Maybe it’s a sign that I should drop hugo and gief and work on Yoshimitsu/Kazuya instead :lol:
EWGF PS3/2 pad trick…
as long you have the L3 button (left analog stick)
F , N , DF
while on DF just slide press the analog stick to hit L3, and easy instant EWGF
