Kowals custom actuators fix both engage and throw issues with JLFs.
Swapping out an actuator is less painful than a stick.
I think most of us are going to end up with multiple sticks no matter what.
Amen to that. Iāve been trying to thin the herd for a long time and itās basically hopeless at this point. Itās nice to have options, but at some point Iād like to get it narrowed down to a pair of Namcos, a shmup stick, a fighting stick, and an american stick for Marvel 2.
I recently picked up an LS-58 to see what its all about. I tossed it into a quick stick I lashed together for my supergun, so I havenāt been able run it through the paces on any shooters (since Iāve only got a handful of cps2 boards atm). Itās got a nice feel to it, though I really prefer the LS-55 for its overall heavier feel.
Anyone else actually prefer fighting games on STG gear? Iāve been playing MvC2 on an LS-55 for years now. The return action is so fast and accurate that it really allows for a lot of clean and complex inputs at speed. On a good day Iām a lot faster with my trijumps, fast flys and resets on the Seimitsu, though I must say that if my inputs start to get lazy its a wrap. At any rate it works out nicely because at least its one stick that I feel is good to go for whatever Iām feeling like.
Failure.
Until you have more sticks than MarkMen, then you donāt have enough sticks.:razzy:
No one have more sticks than MarkMan, Hori and Mad Catz together do not have as many arcade sticks as MarkMan
How many arcade sticks you can own with out a permit (in your state) on the other handā¦
Maybe if you have a business license with a venders permit and a pinball permitā¦
I am sure there is a law about it, like you canāt have more than 15 cats in a 3 bed room home.
FYI a permit to have a arcade machine for profit in my state is called a pinball permit even if said machine is a arcade Cabinet and not a pinball machine. That Claw price grab machine has to have 2 permits in my state, a venders and pinball permit.
No one is touching me.
Depends on your definition of āinsane.ā
Iāve got just over 10 joysticks and I still think thatās too much!
(At least 6 of them are in stages of construction waiting for parts to recommission them.)
Insanity is a basic requirement to post in SRKTT.
Oh noesā¦
I disagree completely with both of you. In my opinion, the LS-58 feels better than the LS-32 and JLF for both STGs and fighters. My LS-32 is currently for sale in the trading outlet!
Sorry, I never play fighters, so I was just guessing based on how some people here think of the LS-58 for fighters.
Actually, Iām sure many people would share the opinion that the LS-32 or JLF are better for fighters. I personally found the LS-58 ultra-responsive with everything I played no matter what kind of movements I was trying to execute. I have no reason to use an LS-32 or JLF again - I love this joystick.
LS-32 is a great all-round stick and I agree, I canāt wait until my order of the LS-58 arrives though. Ever since I got an LS32 my JLF-mounted HRAP3 has just been collecting dust. Time to swap it out and finally get new artwork printed.
On a side-note I also think stock namco sticks are great all-round but still have a very unique āflavorā.
Am loving all this very technical talk about shmups, the sticks and how they are appropriate for eachother.
Since I have yet to build my first stick and never having been given the oppertunity to step inside an arcade (for some reason the dutch government keeps confusing them with gambling machinesā¦) I have got almost no clue how the different sticks feel, but Iām very curious to see how they all feel. I finally got convinced that a stick is better then a controller dpad ;). So I got quite something to make up for.
As a first stick, should I go for the LS-32 or if im a huge shmup fan to directly go for the SUZO 500?
Will end up buying all the different sticks mentioned in this thread though, eventually. I will save space by modding them to work on different consoles, but they got to be Saturn and Dreamcast compatible ;).
Contrary to much of what myself and others have said in this thread, for your first stick go with the LS-32. Itās much more forgiving for those that are just getting started with sticks. And as you move on to different sticks, like the Suzo 500 or LS-58, youāll be able to more easily identify the advantages/disadvantages for your style of play.
Also, if youāre looking for maximum console compatibility, be sure to drop a Toodles MC Cthulhu in there.
Do those custom chipsets with compatability for all kinds of controllers also come with the cables for those or do you still need an el cheapo pad just for the cable to the right console?
You need to make your own.
From either a Controller or the respective Extension.
Got my LS-58 in today. Not exactly night and day, but the shorter throw distance is fantastic, and will make a huge difference. Thereās still some dead zone wobble on mine but itās not a huge deal.
