Oh, I hadn’t really noticed that about post #3 before, I probably scrolled by it super-fast. I should’ve known you would be on top of that, good shit. Now we just need to commit.
I’m cool with whatever, to be honest. If it’s 360, I can contribute games and even a console (if nobody back home is using it, anyhow), but that doesn’t mean I’ll be bummed out if it winds up being PS3. I know that there are sticks for both consoles all over the place, and half of them are dual modded to begin with. My only complaint is that it *is *a bit of a hassle to play one game on two different consoles in the same tournament, both with the stick situation and the games being just a tad different, like with AE. Like me vs Scuba Steve for example. We played twice, first on XBox and then on PS3. It took us both a few minutes to round up sticks to play with, and in the match itself we were both a bit off our game. It might be psychosomatic, or we both uncomfortable with the sticks, or whatever. Like I said, it’s a minor problem, but one less thing to bitch about is just that, one less thing to bitch about.
It’s not bitching trust me. I hear you loud and clear. Most players do play on Xbox and I would like that to be the standard. At the moment I cannot afford to buy games across two platforms. I swear though when we throw the next one and we show the owners that its not a one time thing. I’m gonna start tossing um facts, figures, statistics and all that jazz and then I can convince them to invest more money into games and then slowly into monitors and other equipment. I have ideas in the works guys and if you even enjoyed yourselves even a little you’re gonna love the next one.
Want to tell all you guys that I have the photos up on the Olympia fight club face book page. Have to tell all of you this, some of them are good some are bad but they are the photos of the tournament, next time I’ll do a better job.
To address something I heard in the commentary during Marvel. There are a lot of prominent Frank Wests in Seattle. They are very good and play very safe and methodically. Llama throws out a lot of random dive kicks and supers which I don’t expect because I play people who play very safe. Not to discredit Llama. Obviously he made it to grand finals so he played well, but it can’t be denied that he is pretty random with Frank and with Vergil. Those characters lend themselves well to game play like that. He plays very smart with CapAm because he does not lend himself well to unsafe gameplay like the other two. I didn’t get opened up by Cap nearly as much as the other two because I don’t expect random stuff.
Hah, there was more to it than that where I was talking you up, but like I mentioned, I was talking too quiet cause my throat is absolutely destroyed due to living with smokers right now. So the only times you could hear me was when I was getting really excited for Llama.
I just wanted to reassure everybody that the TOS bandwidth should be fixed by this weekend (Hopefully). The network here is overly complicated with a lot of redundancy. Nobody has wanted to touch the beast in quite some time but we have no excuse now. So by the time the next tournament rolls around we’ll be back with (at least) 720p flawless wired streaming and less power point slides.
On another note, Saturday was pretty awesome. It feels strange how fast things have grown around me. It was only a few months ago when it was just Nate and Will trying to teach me how to play MVC3. Most people I spoke to at the time regarding my plans for TOS thought I was incredibly naive to expect anybody to show up at any particular time and place, let alone grow a community. And now, after a bit of work, we have a rather professional tournament series passing it’s first milestone. I cannot thank OFC (especially Joshua) enough for all of their support and for putting this tournament together. I going to continue to make sure that this venue meets and exceeds all our expectations as we move through our future endeavors.
Good to know. Need to get better mix-up while being safer. Got something I need to work on. Also Cap is my best character since I have played him from the vanilla days.
Okay guys its that time again. I would like to know who is going to be able to bring equipment and/or volunteer for running brackets. I will have two CRT TV’s there to play on this time. I have also acquired three CRT monitors and external speakers as well which could be used as well. If people wish to play on them then I would need less volunteers to bring monitors. There were complaints that the NEC monitors used at TOS “seem” laggy, which I cannot confirm nor deny but an honest estimation would be that they are. Solely based on the fact that monitors with component hookups tend to have greater than or equal to 2 frames of input lag.
With that being said. I need:
2 + evo monitors or better.
4 copies of AE 2012 (disc) or HDD’s w/ AE 2012 + SSF4(360)
5 copies of UMvC3 (360)
5 copies of SFxT (360)
If I can’t get copies of games then I will have to run PS3’s in conjunction with 360’s because I own on most games on the PS3. I know most of you want 360 as standard. I am still in talks of convincing TOS to purchase some of these games for us. I will keep you all updated if the situation changes but for now we will need to supply ourselves with the equipment necessary.
Also I am working on a monthly calendar of events to include other games. 3d fighters, retro games and anime fighters. Please express interest if any of you are willing to participate in other games. So far I have them grouped like this:
Capcom day= SFxT, AE 2012 and UMvC3
3D beatdowns = T6/TTT2, SCV, VF5:FS when it drops and possibly MK9
Concrete Classics= CvS2, MvC2, ST/HDR and Guilty Gear.
Last boss Shodowns = KOF XIII, Skullgirls, Blazblue, and another game.
All games and time are subject to change and quite honestly little interest has been shown for Blazblue (since they have their own thing going), Tekken is pretty much cold til TTT2 drops and VF5:FS is a shot in the dark. Interest in the classics are scattered and the only games that have promise that I can incorporate into different days are KOF XIII and Skullgirls.
Also this next Tech Hit will have a mystery game in it. It will be a team game $5 per person (not team) and it will be double elimination. That’s about is as far as an update goes. My apologies if you guys feel left in the dark. I decided to move it later in the month because it was my wedding anniversary last week and Lunchbox battles is this weekend. So I moved it to the third week in May. This is the last Tech Hit! before NWM 4, so practice up guys and I’ll see you there.
Woah damn son you’ve been working on this, that all sounds excellent. I can provide a PS3 and a copy of UMvC3 PS3 and the PS2 version of CvS2 plus the PS2. No monitors though, unfortunately.
