Marvel was hypeeeeeeeeeeee

Yeah i hate Marvel but that was way hype! Congrats to Andrew for almost taking it & get 2nd!

Who ended winning the SF x T? Did drew Rereretire again?

Thanks. To answer your question, it was the pad player who uses Ken and Lili. I think his name was Max. He beat Shredder in GF.

Antony Tran won the SFxT Grand Finals after a bracket reset.

Just wanted to let you all know that the archives are being uploaded now from:

www.own3d.tv/techhitts

Just be warned that the internet that day was taking a ton of hits on both the upload and download side. I had the bitrate set to 1200 kbs and tested green at 5:00 pm. I noticed during SFxT that the stream was hella laggy so I hope you guys enjoy Power Point slideshows. And to top it all off after I restarted the stream on XSplit I was unaware that I had to prompt own3d.tv once again to create an archive.

There are definitely pros and cons to both own3d.tv and twitch.tv my lack of experience with that has gotten the best of me.

There was a lot that went wrong on all ends of the spectrum. I am not the type of man to make excuses. This was my first time as TO, part time broadcaster, stage hand, and grunt ZugZug. Despite that fact I knew what I was getting myself into and still should have been more prepared. I have learned a lot from this experience and when I came home last night, at 3:15 this morning, I still couldn’t sleep right away. I could only think about the future and how I can make things better.

I am not discouraged in the slightest and I am already planning the next event with a tentative date of May 5th or 19th. Spread the word guys because I’m here to stay.

I thought it went ok. For a first time, it was run well and fairly quickly.

Next time, have everyone pay for everything all at once and sign up for everything all at once instead of stopping each tourney to do that stuff. Separate each pot with envelopes or something to keep it organized. It will also help to number stations and just shout which matches are on which numbered station; instead of 1 guy running around pointing to them. After the first round of matches, use half of the stations for winners and half for losers until you get to winner’s finals. Also make sure you use Challonge next time. super easy to use and keeps things organized.

it’ll only get smoother and easier from now on. Great tourney guys. I’ve been to around 100 of these and this was far from the worst. See you guys next time.

The only reason why I didn’t want to have everyone pay at once was because I wasn’t sure if I had enough change to break everyone’s money at once. I did take the money out of my own pocket to make change because the register at the LAN Center doesn’t keep much change on hand. It was very difficult to read who wanted to register for what so that’s why I did last calls. As far as the stations go I am going to TAG them all with numbers, and all the information i.e. “Monitor- TOS, Games (AE)- Leafman, (SFxT)- Kioga” I am also planning to change the layout a bit to help people store and have access to there equipment. We will also have a better player management system and maybe some AC for crying out loud.

I appreciate the feedback and I will adjust accordingly.

make sure you post the results in the Facebook group too. The more people you get talking about your events the more may show up.

ugh, I was not speaking into the mic well at all, sorry about that Josh.

how many people were in marvel?

like 14 or 15

I think it all went really well! SF4 was a little slow to start, but that’s all stuff that gets smoother each time. I’d like to note that my match on that stream is the first time I’ve seen myself play in a replay, and I noticed a ton of screwups I made, so I’m excited to get on the stream again. I will definitely be at the next one.

Knowing Josh the TO, he will do all he can to make sure the next one will run even smoother…Josh & everyone who helped out i want to say thank you for your dedication & hard work. Tech-hit looks like its going to be a good place for the crew to grow competitively…

I was talking w/ some people & people wanted dat KOF…Maybe after your tweak, we can add it to the to the line up. Also what do you think about 1 random side tourney…This could bring some people like myself who dont really care for the newer games as much…Im pretty sure there would be people up in Seattle down for some ST/HDR…

Actually I already have ideas in the works for other games. The older games though will be kinda though because I don’t have many CRT TV’s. So I know off the bat I could provide two set ups for some classic games. I am thinking about a high stakes old people come to play ST? Also cats that only want to play on the original arcade hardware will have to sit it out because I can’t guarantee any of that.

Side tourney’s and “other” events are fine just run it through me first. Also make sure you have what you need to run it. You can use some of my equipment but when its starts to effect the main events that’s when I’m going to get irate.

It’s a GOOD thing that you’re being a little harsh on yourself, Josh. You’ve always done a lot for our scene but I saw you take it to a different level Saturday, and I can tell by how seriously you were taking it that you were locked in and learning, on the fly. You had to handle a whole lot of things simultaneously, and did a hell of a job. What problems we did have were minor, and I’m confident that you could smooth those over even if we ran another tournament RIGHT NOW. With another month to prepare, this will be cake.

The stuff that’s out of your hands will improve, too. I know this was a new thing for EVERYONE involved, and having setups with the proper games and settings was a bit of issue. That’s on us to fix, and I think that now that so many people have seen that this a real thing and had a good time, people will be more inclined to bring what we need and make sure everything is ready to go. For example, SFxT setups with gems. Going through and deactivating them on all of those setups ate up a lot of time, and that’s something that isn’t on you.

Ultimately, I’d like to see the entire back row of setups also run on one console. Minor gripe, I know, but like I said, that’s on us. It’s incredibly generous of The Other Side to let us use their consoles, but I think once people agree upon a single platform, we should just set half of the consoles they provide aside. If we’re relying on people to bring something and they can’t make it, we still have those other setups as an insurance policy, you know?

I think we should keep a list of who can/will bring what to each event, maybe in the first post of this thread right below the bit about what The Other Side provides. That way it’s easy to give people an idea of what will be available, and in turn people attending can make choices about what to bring or not bring.

The #3 post is dedicated for Miscellaneous information and a tracking list of volunteers and who is bringing setups.

Imma just say this. If Xbox is the standard then the community is gonna need to bring games and whatever else is needed. If its PS3 then it’ll be really easy for me and most of the regulars at TOS to setup without waiting.
