Teams that are "looking" strong thus far..(strictly theory fighting)

i still have faith in Doom.

if he’s bad i’ll switch mammu in.

Maybe when people stop spamming photon shot all the god damn time they’ll find something good about him

I like that…Mammu. It gotta ring to it.

Magneto/Storm/MODOK for team ANNOYING FUCKING ZONING PROJECTILE SPAMMING WHOARZ

ok after watching Keits new video’s

Chris / ARTHUR THE KING / Trish

the kings of keepaway

Chris best groundkeepaway

Arthur has amazing air and ground keepaway and the armor buff the 2 assists

Trish for more keepaway traps and rushdown.

Replace Magneto with Trish/Dormammu/Arthur

I’m thinking for a rushdown team I’d go with:
Morrigan (dunno which assist, maybe soulfist?)
X-23 (with low assist)
Chun (LL assist)

The theory is to set up Morrigan’s Astral Vision hyper and mix in low assists at the same time threatening with cross ups or instant overheads to be super confusing. Chun lockdown to start Astral Vision and throw in a low assist somewhere in the chaos for some huge damage hopefully.

I feel like overall, the characters on their own are pretty strong so if Morrigan dies it’s not a big deal. Not to mention we’ve seen the ridiculousness of X-Factored Chun in Vegas.

Thoughts?

I’m still sticking with Doom for DDT

Same. I’ve always been a Doom fan, and I too was mostly going to use him for his rocks, but he’s not the kind of character like Psylocke was. Even if you mainly use him for the assist and DHC, he’s still not going to be a fish out of water type character – he just seems like a keep away/run away character more than anything, relying on chip damage. As you said, his plasma beam is way better now, and I’m glad. Got so sick of his gameplay revolving around photon shots and jumping fierce abuse.

Now I’ll be able to use plasma beams and fierce abuse! By the way, are there any videos with his “missle” attack? The only missles I’ve seen so far are from Dante. I read something about you being able to send up to eight at a time, but is that one after the other, or all at once, and how does that work as an assist?

Doom/Dante/Trish? If so, that was one of the original teams I was going to consider, along with Doom/Dorm/Trish. I was thinking about replacing Trish/Dante with Phoenix just for rushdown, but if her assists suck, I doubt I’d stick with her after the novelty wears off.

Right now Chun Li, Doom and Dante seem to have the overall best assists so far.

I fucking loved Jem as a kid. All the other boys made fun of me, but I knew what the fuck was up.

Doom looks really bland on point. We’ve seen nothing from him except FOOT-FOOT-FOOT-FOOT-FOOT-FOOT-FOOT and I heard that may have been removed. Can’t remember.

We’ve seen nothing great from him because everyone seems to have a raging hard-on for Photon.

Nah

The original DDT is Dorm/Doom/Trish back when Dorm & Trish were looking gdlk (Trish still does IMO) and Doom rocks was still considered to be the best assist.

I’m still sticking with that team even tho we’ve had more characters revealed.

Its amazing how much currency rocks have actually lost (while still being considered great)

That’s because we know about new characters, and people have sort of woken up to good alternate assists (Morrigan AAA, Cold Star, the low hitters, Tenderizer/Lightning Legs)

oh absolutely, its just kinda cool. Going from ‘this was good in 2’ to ‘we actually know about the current game’ is always neat

Trish/Chun/Storm is looking really strong after seeing those CES vids. Trish trap assist controls the ground in front of you while Chun’s LL assist hitboxes is pretty ridiculous and it puts you in a juggle state getting you a free combo. Storm was really benefitting from that.

Battery characters aren’t gimmicky and are not limited to the new meter building assist in MVC3. It also depends on the rest of the team composition. It’s like Sprial/Sent/Cable where Spiral was the battery of that team because of her lockdown with Sent assist. Morrigan meter charge may be a viable tactic if your other two team members play off of that and can help cover other defencies. It seems Morrigan’s AAA is pretty good but if you opt to go for the meter build assist then another character like Dante using his AAA should make up for that and Dante easily benefits from the additional meter. I can see it being a viable tactic early in the games release but when we get much farther into the games life span it may not be viable anymore. It really depends on how MVC3 develops and if it gets opened up the same way as MVC2 did.

not when said current game isn’t even out yet and we’re just theorizing. :expressionless:

Grapple/Rushdown/Keepaway- Who’s looking the best of each style, and which style is looking strongest?

People have played a good bit of Doom thus far in the demo builds and brought back reports. Things of course COULD be different come the retail release, but assuming Doom doesn’t get a complete overhaul between now and then (which I sincerely doubt) then we can start fomulating opinions on tuff.

Isn’t the Mayor the only real grappler in the roster?
