let’s gooooooooo
If your going to make a website for this, then be prepared to have explanations for… [Whips out calculator] 803520 teams (I included teams with the same members but in different orders and the different assists). And that’s not counting DLC chars or unannounced characters…
I’m really liking the teams that Marn and Justin used at the secret CES tourny (Marn: Zero,Viper,Dante) (Justin: Storm,Trish,Chun). I just want to try Tron and ammy… any suggestions on who to replace on those teams for Tron or Ammy. <3
Dormammu’s Assist where he calls in the vortex is going to be godly at keep away with arthur.
I threw zero in the mix because of his ability to really take advantage with meter and i can safely assume he will also have a decent AA assist.
and i really think arthur’s multiple lance assist is going to be super helpful to dormammu. Just my observations.
Just wanted to say, I support the idea of a team-building thread. Right now, the majority of posts in this topic are asking for advice on building people’s teams. This thread should be for exploring the best teams available in this game, and what works to form good teams in MvC3. People for the most part are just giving a character they like and asking what goes well with them- which isn’t really pertinent to this threads original goal.
False. Based on what certain characters were in MvC2 (pixie/projectile/giant) and what each assist was you could easily in theory create a team that suited the character you really wanted to play.
If Chun, Amaterasu, Hulk, Dante and X-23 all have assist thats work as pressure components and you want someone who makes it possible for your Felicia to get in for example, you could just make a note that those characters in particular do a good job of helping her get inside. You dont literally have to list out each and every team possible that makes no sense.
All the teams will be different visually but they are either going to keep you away, rush you down or have a mean combination of the two.
You shouldn’t count a team that’s XYZ and XZY as two separate teams, the difference is minimal… maybe YZX is a new team… Also remember you can’t have duplicates of a character.
Yeah I didnt even think about that when nullifying his logic.
MSP is still MSP if you choose PSM. The whole logic behind the team is to have Psylocke only as an assist to setup Magneto to take them out quickly.
If you wanted Psylocke specifically as a point character then that would completely change the teams she would have good synergy with.
On an unrelated note “synergy” seems to be this weeks buzzword.
Because that’s the most important thing to try to teach newer players. There’s a HUGE step up in someone’s game, even ignoring execution and game knowledge, when they go from the “my three favorite characters on a team” mentality to a “My character and two characters to support them” or “three characters that work well together”, etc. sort of mentality.
^^^going with that thought, whats looking best so far in this game:
1 point character designed to never die with 2 assists to back them up. ( ie strider doom)
1 point character with a backup point character and a third assist that helps both out ( blackheart doom from the oldschool?)
3 point characters designed for one goal (ie all rushdown, all keepaway)
hybrid team consisting of an all around assist to support a keepaway and a rush down point character.
a team with a battery character as a lead off and then a heavy meter user as an anchor (ala cvs2)
sorry if these questions have been answered already but i have no idea how to play marvel, and am just looking to get a feel as to how team formation goes. i really like the idea to list characters as keepaway or rushdown… a person like me would have little idea at first.

Do you plan on trying to go competitive??
MSP is a totally different team if you put storm first.
Strider/Doom players have no choice but to get the most bang out of their buck. Once Strider takes damage its OVER so your best bet is to do the absolute best you can before strider dies. Doom by himself isnt all that. Strider/Doom/Cable or Strider/Doom/Sent or something…because Strider + Doom is one character IMO.
I plan on being proficient with all the characters on my team, they all have more than a good assist as their saving grace.
Oh and battery characters sound gimmicky. I’d never choose a “boost” assist in this game when they do like 20%, thats laughable.
Thank Christ. I see so many people on other sites screaming about how Morrigan is so good cause she can give meter. I mean she’s good but meter assists are waste when you could have an awesome AA instead, for example.
doom looks like an assist only character so far…and haggar looks like mvc2 zangief
I think MvC3 really got rid of the “only good for assist” characters. All the “good assists” belong to the good characters in this game lol.
TGS build Doom was strong. Now we see more here it comes SYNERGY with characters like Amaterasu and Chun on teams with Zero, Viper, Modok, Storm and Morrigan. Making Doom kinda pale in comparison since there are characters with not only good/decent assists but exceptionally good on point, something Doom isnt.
Synergy sounds so good for this series lmao.
bitch u cant fuckin deny it:

EDIT: Seriously though, are people even bothering to explore MvC3 Doom on point? I honestly haven’t seen it in the vids thus far, but it’s not something I been looking out for. I think alot of people are still caught up on him being an assist only character(?). Could he be decent at keep-away?
He’s gonna be on my team (Mostly for Rocks, but I do love Doom and his playstyle) but I’ve kinda been raging when I see him come out during streams.
PHOTON SHOT PHOTON SHOT PHOTON SHOT. It’s not that good anymore guys, and Plasma Beam has been buffed! FUUUUU
Doom looks iight…his normals turned me off.
I thought he would be better in this game but apparently people are saying he isnt.
