But thing is, people have been mostly playing Doom as MvC2 Doom rather than MvC3. You can tell - Photons everywhere, trying to fullscreen punish with air hyper, no rockets or plasma, etc. We can start formulating opinions, but all we will get for sure is ‘MvC2 Doom doesn’t work well in MvC3’, and we all know that already.
Thor is pure grappler.
However, She-Hulk’s and Skrull’s command grabs are hard to pass up and you can base your entire play on them, so they’re hybrids.
Spencer isn’t really one because his arm grabs can be blocked like Omega Red’s.
Amusingly enough, the two best command grabs in the game look like they belong to Super Skrull (long range, combos into hyper, anti-ground or anti-air, reasonably fast) and X-23 (super fast movement but sort of slow startup, long distance, leads into BnB for great damage).
Do we know of any other character with a meter building assist besides morrigan?
As for teams that are looking good, chris/dante/(if the rumors are true)sentinel, I think that would be a very nice balanced team if you have dante on AA assist since apparently chris lacks a good AA.
Btw im kinda new to marvel so what exactly makes a good team? Is it a variety of playstyles like one rushdown, zoner, brawler? Or is it a team that cover each others weaknesses, like a grappler with a projectile assist?
Thor is a pure grappler, and yet he has the shortest reach out of all the “hybrids” in the game.
SRK, youre at it again. . .
Amaterasu has a meter building assist. I think Cold Star is too good to pass up though…
Hardly just theorizing. Seeing lightning legs in action is more than theory
I’m not saying anything isn’t good, I’m saying there was a time on here where all the theorycraft was XX/XX/Doom for rocks. That time is over.
Ah thats why i didn’t know about it, yea it wouldn’t make sense to have ammy on your team and not have cold star. But you never know it might work well on the right team.
Lol that was horrible. Every team was Dante/???/Doomrocks
Course now I’m planning on Doomrocks but whateva
She-Hulk is way more of a grappler than Thor. IMHO the only two “grappler” characters in this game are her and Haggar. No other character seems like he/she needs to absolutely rely on grapples for damage and setups. Thor is more of a hybrid than anything, but he does have very nice damage after his grapple throw due to combos.
It’s the same with Morrigan though. Her AAA is REALLY good, so who the hell wants to use 20% of ONE bar over it? Meter assists aren’t even particularly safe.
Depends on the focus of the team. That’s really the point of the 3 man teams with 3 different assists so you can custom tailor the team to try to be balanced or try to focus on one strategy.
The basic thing is that you want to be able to cover the weaknesses of your characters with the strengths or assists of another character. For example, if a character is strong up close but limited mobility and has a hard time getting in then you want to use a character who’s assist help that character get in. The other route is to have a specialist team where it focuses on building your team around a certain strategy. If you look at MVC2, Strider/Doom/Sentinel can be considered a specialist team as it focuses on a trap play style between Strider and Doom to constantly put your opponent in block stun and mix ups for damage. If Strider dies the team can quickly crumble as the key part of the strategy is gone.
It really depends on your other partner though. If your other partner has a good AAA then I see no reason to give Morrigan AAA as well. May as well get DAT METER!!!11!!!
How fast/safe are meter assists? Seems like they’d just be asing to get Shinkuu’d or Proton Cannon’d.
No assist is completely safe, but the Morrigan one is pretty fast. Like any other assist, you’re going to have to cover them.
Proton Cannon is too slow IMO
Shinkuu or Chaotic Flame could probably punish them hard though
That’s one of the things I’m liking about Ryu (bless his soul, nobody likes him) is that Shinkuu is fast as FUCK and being aimable seems to me that it could tag someone in almost any DHC combination.
From what I’ve seen, they’re pretty fast and safe, especially if you’re backing up your assists by protecting them. I haven’t seen anyone use any meter assists in the new build though.
Too bad that’s his only redeeming factors
I don’t like him because Good Fighter isn’t his theme.
also, its closer to a third of a bar than to a fith of a bar, if I remeber right.
