Yea i was thinking that leaving only 4 spots open for Portland is kinda small, or any other area for that matter. Hence through qualifier tourneys, you can take over the 5v5 team with all Portland members if your skills dictate that. Dunno, in the end I’m down with whatever. Just trying to make it fair and keep everyone happy, which in itself might be impossible. We all agree that RR is the best way to determine skill, but if we want to be fair, everyone should have a shot if they want, and a 50+ man RR would be impossible.
Im sure things will be cleared up tomorrow…cole will most likely have to run the gauntlet of questions in person, hah. Congrats to those selected so far!
Sorry to burst everyones bubble, but the rules are staying the same. I plan to have at least 6 stations running. Some people will have to run gauntlets, some will not. If you prefer to just run a gauntlet and get through your 25 matches let me know. I can not stress enough that people need to be at this event ON TIME!!!
About portland, sorry about the 4 spots. I kept asking for a list of good Portland players, all i ever got were about 3 to 4 names. So 4 slots is what it is. Those spots will ONLY go to portland kats however. So its top 4 portland in random select tourney. That means if rayblade got 8th in tourney but he is the 4th portland kat in the top 8…he is in the qualifier. Hope that makes sense.
Anyway, practice up…have faith in your Captain! I know what i’m doing
Thanks for all the suggestions, however we are sticking to plan. See everyone at Preppys this Friday!

ps - Updated First Page with Final Qualifier list!!!
Is there someone going that I could carpool with? Since I live in Burien and Cole is in Issaquah, it would have to be with someone comming from up north…
I’d like to chime in real quick about players who are attending this round robin who ARE NOT going to Evo.
For instance, I’m not trying to name drop, but I heard that Adam for instance won’t be able to make evo. Nothing against Adam or anything (great guy and great player, and sorry if it seems as if I’m staking you out cuz you play Ryu) but if he’s not going, his name should be taken off of the list.
Mechanica/Elias as well…You going to evo? Whats the deal? Paul G? Munky?
I understand the want to not shut out players from the round robin and all, but it only makes sense to have the round robin tournament reflect those that are actually GOING to evo.
I don’t know, that’s my problem. I want to but I can’t even fucking afford to FEED myself off this 10 hours a week bullshit I get from work, much less plane tickets. I have a room to stay in, and like $60 of credit toward a plane ticket, but absolutely NO money to my name.
but whatever, we can just take my name off though, I’m not good at this game nor do I like it very much. I’m not gonna make the top five anyway. just count me out if it makes things easier, I don’t even understand where I have to be to play these round robins - do I have to make it to portland?
No, you don’t gotta make it to Portland. And yo man, this isn’t to like put you on the spot, and I’m sorry that it came out like that. I’m just trying to make a finalization of things…
Nah it’s all good, I didn’t see it like that. Valid question. I would’ve confirmed earlier but it’s still pretty up in the air. Leaning towards going, but I just don’t wanna say that I’ll be there, and make a stand for myself in the tourney only to find out I can’t go at the last minute. I’m hoping to find that sweet spot for plane tickets a month or so beforehand where it gets a little cheaper. My character choices are hella gimp though anyway, I can’t see myself becoming solid enough to make top 5, considering I can’t get any real practice in. Online fucking sucks, and all the gatherings I go to lately are having lackluster attendance.
I also can’t decide between Abel and Fuerte, but I’m leaning towards Abel now. Fuerte is badass but with my reckless playstyle I really need to have more than 900 vitality. But god damn it’s so much easier to kill people with Fuerte. Not to toot my horn but I have the RSF on lockdown, and it’s so bomb to land that shit. I just try to focus attack too much because I’m like “HELL YEAH IF THIS LANDS I GET TO RSF!11”
Honestly, I’d love it if I could just get to a casual session with some top players and play everybody first to 3 with my Fuerte and my Abel and have people help me decide who would be a better choice.
I don’t understand why we aren’t getting serious about gatherings though… The time before last I went to Pablo’s was tight, I leveled up there playing Nolan and Wenzel and D. But like, the last time I went to D’s Paul was the only ‘serious’ player playing IV and he is like too sandbaggy and won’t bust out the sagat and/or not mess around. And the other day at Pablo’s was fun, but I didn’t really get anywhere because Shawn was the only other person that came, and we kinda stopped taking it seriously after not too long and just played random characters. Not trying to dog on you or anything shawn, but I need some serious leveling up.
What do I have to do to get some training in with our top players? Someone enlighten me. I’m desperate!
Sounds dirty, but at least its not a long ass drive, and we’ll have super serious playing and can help you with your Abel/Fuerte. I don’t call it “SF4 Hotness” for nothin’.
