I personally think its crazy to say Frank is better the Matt. I have played them both and its just my personal thoughts. No hate or PDX love involved.

Whats really jacked up about the whole chemistry statement is that, LTB has pretty much NO FRIENDS in seattle. I can say this b/c I KNOW ITS true. friendships = chemistry and thats not the case with LTB. But yet you would hold chemistry against Matt is really beyond any REAL reasoning. Some of you folks can come up on here and say everything is hearts and rainbows but you know you would be Lying. Pure and simple, so lets save any of that.
Long story short. Chemistry means Nothing, Talent means everything. and its hard to Deny Matt in anyway shape or form.Can we assume Matt is a 315 lbs power-lifting champion?

Ok first of all, no disrespect to Frank because he’s a good player and all, but I honestly think my Bison is better. Granted we’ve only played one session online, and Bison/Bison mirrors are stupid (I was playing Abel and Rufus too tho), and online isn’t the same as offline, and it’s possible he’s hella leveled up since then (but I’ve definitely improved on my game since the Random Select tournament). scrubydan said he was better? That’s weird because in his last post scrubydan seems to be recommending me for the team. And this is after he whooped me in that tournament, a loss I’ve fully reflected on.
I haven’t spoke up about this on the forum but the issue I’ve had with the team selection is that it’s not a PNW team - it’s a Seattle team (with the exception of scrubydan, if he is in fact attending EVO). I can understand why, since the captain is in the area and you guys have a bigger scene. As far as Portland goes, I’ve made top 3 at every local tournament here (well it was top 2 up until Random Select), which I think is fairly decent in terms of consistency. I would’ve hoped that this would have given me some consideration, but if I haven’t gotten enough time in with you guys that not many are sure of whether I belong on the team or not, then that’s understandable.
But… I don’t belong on the team because of “chemistry”? What the hell? I get the impression that you don’t like me (and I’m not sure what I did that caused this), but I don’t have any hate for any of you guys and would love to be a part of the team and represent the PNW if I’m good enough to be deemed top 5. If I’m ignored because I haven’t been a part of the Seattle scene, well that just goes back to what I was saying above. But when it comes down to it… do you think I would play worse in a tournament situation if I was placed on a team with people that you claim I somehow have no chemistry with? Why would I not give it my all when I want to see our region do well?
He has hella hella leveled up, Frank is buff now. We have a lot of bison players, too, and they’re all getting better. Riki-Oh got second at our last tourney with over 40 entrants. Mobbed his way all the way through winners.
It’s not that people don’t like you (well I can only speak for myself I guess) it’s that where is the portland involvement? I’ve never seen you guys come up to play SFIV. Ever. It’s not that you don’t have the ‘chemistry’ it’s that portland on the whole just doesn’t strike us as serious about it? I guess. I can only speak for myself, again, but that’s what I see.
Nobody doubts that you’d give it your all, but we have no idea how you’re gonna come level up with us from all the way down there. It’s not that we want to exclude you guys, but the portland sf4 scene seems like it’s not all that hyped about the game. I’m probably wrong, but that’s what it seems like from this perspective. I mean, I’ve seen you come up for a friggin pinball convention, yet never seen (any of) you come up for a tournament. :lol:
We have at least four sessions a week, and a ton of great players. When I was in portland, not to be rude or hatin’, but I didn’t see a lot that impressed me? Granted I didn’t watch that many portland matches I don’t think. You seem like one of the few who’s into the game.
Anyway, not trying to offend anyone, it’s just the way it seems from someone random in the scene up here.
i dont remember me saying that Frank is a better player than BBH, i did however say that Frank improved a shit load since the last time i played him. it just seems like BBH does a little better overall i.e. like the portland tournament but i’ll leave Cole to decide on this one.
as for me sorry if i’ve been indecisive about going to evo, but i can tell you guys right now that i’m definitely going and i have been training everyday for this without stopping. i’m just as hungry if not more hungry than before to do good at evo, i hope you guys are the same and train hard.

Any bitching PDX was/is doing about the 5v5 team being a “Seattle Team” instead of a “Northwest Team” and not getting enough respect and/or representation was pretty much shut down when Random Select drew fewer SFIV entrants than the lowest-attended biweekly SFIV tournament at Preppy’s.

It seems like seperate rules for seperate cities when it come too your mindset Elias. Its koo, just wish you would admit it. I just cant wait for whenever yall 2 pick up this clusterfuck that is deciding who is on the team and this bull shit challenge system. Its hard for another city to prove anything when you guys HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON AT THIS POINT AND NEVER HAVE. which is pretty much the only collective thoughts that everyone can agree on.I know Elias means well, but neither side has put much effort into forming as a group. First of all, re: the pinball/classic gaming show - I have some friends in the classic gaming scene that I wanted to meet up with. Plus you know, play some classics since I have a lot of respect for some of them and there were a few cabs I really wanted the chance to play on again… I don’t just play fighting games ya know. Sorry for not dedicating my life and time solely to SF4.
Yes, I’m fully aware that the Portland scene does not seem as strong as the Seattle scene. We have nowhere near as many players, I’m not arguing that. But as Jetay said, we do have people showing up to the Versis sessions on Thursdays, we get a lot of good games in. I admit that I fully don’t keep up with everything that’s going on with the Seattle scene in regards to who’s showing up to play where. It’s great that you guys have such a big scene. But, does my coming from a smaller scene automatically make me a worse player?
The Random Select tournament did not get much advertising (hell it took me a while to even find the room it was in the day of the tournament). If you go back and look at the thread you’ll see that it was practically forgotten about until like a week or two before the actual tournament. In terms of Portland locals it did get a much smaller turnout than all the previous tournaments that had been held here, which is sad. Maybe the hype has died for some people, but others still play.

I think until Cole comes in here and says something that this nonsense needs to come to a halt. Both cities are getting mad for different reasons, and honestly this is not the TIME to have this shit come to head. The tentative team was announced at the beginning of the month. Why did it take people 30 days to muster up enough courage to say anything? We got 2 weeks until EVO, less drama more SFIV.
Real Talk. Cole is the captain b//c he MOVED there. If Cole werent there, we probably wouldnt even have a team. No need to be hyped or even mention that, dosent really help your case. EVO staff probably dont know anybody up here besides Cole and Zach. I think they had little reguard of seattle.
You don’t understand, there is a set way of doing things in the Northwest Scene since SFIV came out and certain people “Claim” the game and no differing opinions to the status quo are valid. This isn’t just a Seattle thing either.
It is very gross to me and I don’t enjoy games as much as I did before because of it.

Nah, and I apologize for it coming across like that. It pretty much just boils down to the fact that we have no real way to see you play/play you guys down there.
Nobody has gotten a chance to prove themselves and earn a spot on the team. I think I have just a big of a shot as landing a spot on the team as you do, but I’m not really worrying about it. AFAIK we’re just practicing and helping each other’s games out until the last minute when we work out the team, as a team. I didn’t mean to be like “Well you guys don’t spend your money and time to play on OUR scene” and I again apologize for that.
Realistically, I don’t see a bison landing a spot on the team at all, whether you’re the best one or not. But you should have a chance at proving yourself, I don’t mean to exclude you guys.
I’ve been placing well for the last 2 months and I’m pretty confident in my game right now.
