To the people in the NW:

although we had some drama in the past, it was good knowing you all and it was hella fun playing sf with you guys. but the bad news is, i am officially quitting SF.

the reason why this is so sudden is, long things short, i want to pursue more realistic goals in my life to improve on my personal character. my goal in improving my sf skills will only stop me from acheiving what i really want and need in my life. my evo registration will be cancelled along with flight and hotel.

i really thank you all to those who might or might not excepted me into their scene, but this is the decision that i have to make before i spend too much time on a game instead of cherishing the people around me.

To everyone else in the thread - team spots should have only been decided by top tourney placers and by discretion of the captain. Of course this is going to be a popularity contest - so what? Be more popular if you really want to be on the team - otherwise just rep in singles like a champ. A ton of you have skill and even if you don’t make the team - play your best.

Its just a side tourney thing - but lol @ all the drama. Guilty Gear crew is trying to put together a japanese style 23v23 E v W coast, and that is filled with comparable bickering, so I know how this goes… good luck with it all, I’ll still be rooting for ya’ll if I bother watching the 5v5 thing go down.

Wow, come back next day and its all blown up. I don’t know if you guys consider this thread in drama mode, or not. If it isn’t i definitely see it budding so lets snip it here: I talked to Cole on the phone and we’re proceeding as he posted. I Trust him, and I’m sure it will all work out. That being said:

Street Fighter to me is a hobby, family, friends and work comes first, as I know it does to many of you, who come late to tourneys, can’t make gatherings etc. People like Munky, Deezo and I were trying to come up with a solution that would save time, and be more feasible. People are going to talk sacrifice for the love of the game. But get real this isn’t the NBA. We’re in love with a video game. I’m just not going to say I can’t go to my friend’s birthday party because I have to go play a video game tournament. Or that I can’t go pick up the groceries before I get home because I have to play Cole a few matches before I go home. And I know a whole slew of you moved the NWM to attend my wedding. (THANKS!)

Sure back in the day, when I had 4 roommates and a kick back job with no responsibilities it was all good, but after I busted a Scrubby (good shit!) and decided to up my game on life itself, stopped playing for a while and disappeared from the scene for 5 years to emerge with a family and a career.

I don’t have that young life flexibility anymore (which I hella miss) and maybe I did lose a LITTLE fire and love for the game. But yea with changing dates, long tourneys and well life just blind siding me (for those in the know this week is crazy). I’m not going to make Preppy’s, I’m not going to make Gameclucks. Its hard to commit days, and I don’t need another thing to juggle in my life right now. Most of all I don’t deserve any special privileges to make the team.

Therefore I’m going to step down and take myself off the list for the 5v5 qualifiers. I’m just gonna practice up as time permits and do my best at EVO. I know the top 5 will represent the NW well. We have some beasts.

So now this Friday I can go hang with Ian on his birthday.

Oh yea the post that triggered my thought process on this. Mechanica (sp?) the $20 thing was just so only people with the mindset that they can win would be willing to challenge. I didn’t even consider the fact that some people didn’t have $20 dollars to spare. And I apologize for that. I don’t have half the heart you do for this game, to go to evo and everything in the situation your in. I really don’t deserve a spot on the team.

Rat, you’re right it is only half the matches. Half as unrealistic as before. But still unrealistic.

From my experience, when all 3 setups are used for like a 32 man bracket at preppy’s it takes around…6-7 hours to run it. Thats what…like 60 matches?

So math equations aside…325 matches on 3 setups should take in real life… 30 hours? Or is everyone gonna show up at the exact same second, and then give up talking, eating, drinking, pissing, shitting, and smoking?

I’m really not trying to be an asshole here. I’m just being realistic…with a sprinkling of assholish sarcasm.

Fair is one thing, but this is fairness pushed past it’s limits into the unrealistic zone where attendance/money/time is outweighing actual skills.

Cole, just make a team of 5 of the most skilled, most popular players and be done with it. haha. O ya, and a 5 man bench team, of the slightly less skilled, less popular, but most enthusiastic players.

PS. I’m still down to design/help design T-shirts for the team if ppl want them.

Ok everyone, hello and I apologize that I have been away from this thread for so long. Have not been able to get internet access =(

I see all the issues and concerns everyone has. For the most part, it seems that everyone would like for me to just choose 10 people and let anyone who has issues with it…challenge someone.

Well personally I do not like the idea of just choosing people at random, even with the knowledge of past tourney experience. Unfortunately time is not on our side and there are a lot of things going on life wise for alot of people. This event is suppose to fun and the main point around the Round Robin idea was to get the NorthWest to start playing as a Team instead of as individuals. I wanted everyone to level up off one another and it was the best way to get all our best players in one area.

So here is what is going to happen. I see a lot of people dropping out and saying they have real life to worry about and that is ok. I will post a list of my desired top 5 (this doesnt mean it will be the final team).

The other 5 spots, if you feel you need to be there…or you feel that your character isnt represented and you wanna take the place of lets say the ken player…then feel free to challenge.

The way the challenge will work is like this: Cole Sim gets challenged by Deezo both of them do a gauntlet vs the other members of the team, with a final match vs each other. Player with most points wins spots.

If lets say Jmar’s Sagat is on the team but trace feels Deezo chun is scrubby and wants to replace Deezo. Unfortunately Trace would be denied cause he is planing on using Sagat as a main and Jmar is already the main sagat. He would only be able to challenge Jmar for the spot.

So with this being said, I really apologize for all the dis-organization. Once the Afro-Dojo is in full effect, things will be going ALOT smoother I promise you all.

I hope everyone can be happy with this set up, if you have concerns or better ideas for the challenge system please tell me. Tonight will mainly be practices and discussion about the 5v5, EVo and Life =)
