I want to use the Soldier but I can’t rocket jump to save my soul. I can bomb-jump as a Demoman just fine but I can’t rocket jump. Help?
Yeah the reason why you can’t rocket jump with soldier is because of different mechanics.
With soldier to get the most effective jump, you should quickly do a 180 turn (facing opposite of the direction you want to go), while quickly crouching, FIRE THE ROCKET AT THE GROUND, then stand up, at the same time jump, turning 180 again to the direction you want to go. All in one simultaneous motion.
Of course you don’t have to do that, that just cover the most ground. A simple simultaneous jump w/ firing rocket to ground is enough to go atop some buildings. And really, rocket jumping isn’t necessary for most games (most people don’t even use it in pub servers), but its always a nice tool.
