Team Fortress 2 - Heavy Update, New Maps, New Mode are all live now!

The new Ambassador doesn’t fuck around.

I’m using a 6200. When I’m playing Gold Rush, It’s like my copy of TF2 came with Powerpoint.

Does look familiar to you? I kid I kid. With such a growing increase in players, I always thought I was playing low-end. But I guess folks could just turn down the settings if they are having performance issues. Not me though. The look of the game is pretty much why I got into TF2. Pixar ftw.

Real talk. Hands down the deadliest unlock yet if you know how to hs.

You know it always amazed me when you’re on like a payload and offense wins, and the whole spawn area blows up to shit…it doesn’t lag at all. That’s pretty amazing.

Ambassador and Hunstman are straight-up game changers. All we need now is for Valve to buff back the Dead Ringer, and this update will be great.

I’m thinking of getting into this game. What’s a good class for beginners?

Valve would say Heavy, but that’s not really the best, IMO.

I’d say Pyro for Offense, Engineer for Defense, and Medic for support.

I dunno. From what I can tell, the best class for me would probably be Scout since it’s vaguely similar to the only shooter-ish game I’m any good at. In Metroid Prime, Samus is faster than most(if not all) of her opponents, has to bob and weave with the tougher ones, and can double-jump to evade attacks.

Right now I got a GTX 260…before that I had an 8800GT, and was using that for the longest time.

I got into one of my normal servers, killed someone, then got 2 achievements, 4 milestones, and 4 unlocks. I thought I was hacking or something, I swear. LOL! I don’t necessarily think that this was Valve caving into the complaints…you also have to consider there were a SHIT TON of achievement_idle servers. At least this way, the achievements wouldn’t be so useless. Here’s a question though…are the unlocks still random, and also, is there still going to be a trade system?

They better put in that trade system! Apparently you cant have more than 50 items. So ive thrown away about 10 items already.

the random unlocks are still random. the achievement unlocks are for their corresponding class/item.

im really liking the cloak and dagger. depending on the map i can harrass mofos all day! dead ringer is good against small number of people. ambassador is beastly.

the sniper unlocks other than the razorback are pretty good too. jarate + pyro assisst= lots of mini crits! even if they run away

heavy unlocks are the most useless imo

Soldier and Pyro are by far the easiest classes to learn the game with

While Spy and Engineer require the most knowledge of it to be really effective with(doesn’t stop EVERYONE from playing Spy anyways)

Every other class kinda falls in a middle ground

I always say that Medic is the best beginner class. A team can always use a Medic, so that you are never useless, and you can learn some useful routes from other players. Soldier is also pretty easy, assuming that you’ve played another game with rockets, and know how to lead targets to the rockets. Pyro can be really easy with M + M1, but then you can get into some compression blast stuff later on.

Both Soldiers and Pyro’s have advanced tactics you can learn later. but you can get decent with them fairly quickly

The thing about medic is that new players just end up following other players around, and don’t really learn anything. So when they play other classes on their own they still don’t really know what to do or have a feel for the game.

So I wouldn’t suggest starting off with that unless you really want to play medic

Yeah a bad medic really can be bad. I agree that pyro and solider are the two best starter classes. Just don’t go spy unless you are really good at FPS and learn them fast.

A good pyro is hard to play, because it takes the sneakiness of spy without the invisibility or disguise to get into a position to flank the enemies, and then come up behind them and kill everyone. I’m starting to play more with the compression blast, but I love coming behind a group and critting everyone with the backburner.

Basically, I make it my mission to keep enemy medics from building their uber.

Also, learning to play a demoman that can actually take out sentry nests effectively goes a long way to winning a match.

-Pyro, Medic and Heavy are the easiest.
-Engi, you won’t have much idea how to use at first, but quickly become second nature over time.
-Soldier and Sniper is moderate IMO. I personally am horrible w/ Sniper, but all my friends are good with him when they first started.
-Scout requires tactics and strafing. You should ambush your opponent(s), but if your good, you can take out opponents head-on.
-Spy requires skill, no need for explanation, it becomes obvious the first time you use him and get 0 kills 10 death, followed by ragequit.
-Demoman is very advanced, but he’s the best character in the game. Learn the class movements first, before using him. Or else you won’t be exploding anyone with your sticky mines.

I agree. Pyro is the easiest. http://magnetro.com/hotair.html

Beginner heavy’s are the easiest targets in the game imo

I don’t think thats a good class to start with unless you like dying alot

Soldier and Pyro are the easiest because you don’t need really great aim to get kills, and they have really basic and effective tactics.

Classes have a higher ceiling to master(compression blasts. Rocket jumps etc) but from seeing a bunch of new players start the game, beginners will no doubt get the hang of pyro and soldier the easiest.

well whatever class you choose, you should go look up youtube and watch the tutorial vids. they have very good info (although sometimes outdated)

Start out with Soldier. I’d not recommend starting out with Pyro because you need to work on prediction skills. The Soldier is good on Offense/Defense.
