I just did that today. They’re the latest drivers NVIDIA has to offer. I only tried to connect to a server once, so I don’t know if it’s a consistent problem yet.
And right now my Steam account is being a pain. Every time I try to launch TF2, it gets stuck validating the files. 
try vista? (or xp vice versa). well… it is a beta. Game takes a long time to load up on my oc’ed 2.0 2500xp.
demoman can still gren jump nicely.
Scout is beast class.
Spy is fun and amazing counter to sentry guns.
I can see medic combos + offensive guys being top tier.
I wish soldiers retained their grenades, they’re not that great now without the prime rocket rocket grenade rocket combo.
pyro is … eh. (try doing communication with him, it’s hilarious) and I can’t say much about the sniper.
Yeah I got that once as well, so I lowered all the settings below what was recomended for my PC. I never got that error that I saw again, but I still freeze up anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes of playing, usually so bad I have to hard re-start.
I don’t fucking get it, this PC ran HL2 just fine and with this at the low settings it shouldn’t be a problem at all.
I got this error “The application failed to initialize properly (0cx000012d) Click OK to terminate program.” twice, I’m thinking it is the problem. Shitty thing is there is only one link I found about it anywhere on the web and the guy fixed it by re-installing XP…
EDIT: I did a Windows check and one of my DLL diles needed replacing, but that wasn’t it, still crashed. I put all the settings down to lowest or off, and it works, go figure. I will have to trial and error it to see wich setting was causing the problem. For now, it doesn’t look that bad at low settings so, see you on.
I’m starting to think that playing this game just wasn’t meant to be. I’m really beginning to wish I didn’t spend money on this and invested time to try to get it to work. So far, the best I’ve done was get into a game (with lowest quality settings except running at 1024x768), fired a rocket at someone, and then my game completely froze up and forced me to hard reset. sigh
I really don’t know what else to do at this point. This seems like a lost cause.
Mine takes awhile to load, and was crashing. I ran it in safemode and then lowered all settings to zero. After that seemed stable I began running it full screen. No problems now.
I <3 Spy so much. Cloaking was exactly what they needed to give to them. I’d still love to have an M9 Tranquilizer gun Metal Gear style though :sad:
Also I think the Scout’s scattergun might be slightly imbalanced right now. Still early and all, just throwing that out there. What do you guys think?
You may also want to mess with your drivers more, alot of nvidia cards are having problems. Sadly.
Today I proved Heavy+Medic was god, Eddymasta was their… I was a Heavy and we were on dustbowl defending the last place (yes I know its an easy D) and I was killing fools left and right, then the Invulnerability went on I jumped off my ledge turned around the corner, took out like 3 sentries and 6 guys, kept going and took them out again as they came running from Spawn… HEAVY POWA… Btw coutner to Heavy+Medic just get the spy to stab the medic in the back and the heavy goes down like a sack of bricks, also snipers are good if they can get a good positon, Heavy’s need to always be weary of snipers.
As for the tweaks, this is a beta Im hoping that the demo man will get the cluster bomb we saw in the video and maybe give soldier back a few nades. I am loving the classes overall, Flame thrower is good but he’s not really an all out kill character, he’s good to soften up an area or to hide at corners and kill with a flame and runaway tactic. I was getting alot of assist kills with flame thrower when I played him.
Is the scatter gun the Shotgun thing? Cause it’s okayyy but not broken I think, it really doesn’t do that much damage, if I get close enough to scatterer gun them I normally just run circles around them looking for a good back hit with the bat.
Yeah, Heavy with Medic assist is really good. We were using it on Dustbowl earlier too. Without the grenades the Enginers/Turrets can be a bitch. I always used to take them out with grenades. There were some parts on Dustbowl where 2-3 Enginers had a sweet spot working together, that was hella hard to get in on.
Starting to like the game though!
Edit: Wow, still having issues of freezing with the lowest settings. Man I hope they iron this out.
Didn’t play as much as I would’ve liked to, but got some games in last night. I love the Spy, but like to switch it up since it almost seems unfair. My favorite moment yesterday was being healed by the opposing teams medic while I was disguised… looking at him, then running behind him and stabbing him in the back.
The game is balanced pretty well though, I never really felt like I’ve been overwhelmed by the other team, if I lose, its just cause they’re better.
For those having problems with the game, I guess you can try hitting up the steam forums (if they’re not too slow) or reporting these bugs through the game menu (if you get that far). You want to at least make sure your problems are addressed, so when the final comes out in a few weeks, you’re not boned…
SJ, did you try going into the game’s safe mode like someone suggested?
I have yet to play with anyone on SRK. Maybe today? I’ll try to be on after work.

So, do we want to try to get an “event” going? Maybe some time that we can all jump on and try to get on the same server? I guess ideally that would be sometime this weekend, but I’m going to be on and off Steam in the afternoons/evenings all this week.
With that in mind, does anyone have a machine they can use as a server? I’m not too savvy on it, but my brother has a spare PC that I might try to use as a server if no one else does. It’d be nice to have a private server going for SRK. EDIT: I have no idea how to make one, does it cost anything to do this? Can i just install the server tools onto the extra machine and be good to go? I’m new at this. If its too hard… let’s just jump on a public one.

Yeah I tried going into safe mode. Once there I turned down all my settings to the lowest except 1028x768 resolution and fullscreen. Even then firing one rocket at some guys caused my whole game to freeze and crash. Really not sure what else I can do with my video card drivers, considering they’re the latest drivers I can get.

Yeah no problem, you seemed really interested in the game so I figured you should admin the group. As for the server tools I think you just need to install steam and then set up the server package on it. I’m working on getting a server setup through a group I play with here at school. I’ll let you know how that goes. If so I can try and make it private.
Cool, let me know. If I have time today, I’ll try to do the same. It sounds like all I have to do is get the Server package from steam and set it up. I found some how-to page on it, too… doesn’t seem like its too bad. I’ll let everyone know how it goes.
reading about this game, it reminds me of the xbox conker reloaded game. too bad my pc is old and crap =P

anwyays, for those who are locking up w/ ati cards. I managed to lock up my system when I put my “standard settings” from ccc to ‘optimal performance’ from ‘balanced’. My system began to lock up and sound loop shit, so I went back to ‘balanced’. I also set my audio to ‘medium’. I don’t know how this will help you nvidia guys but maybe you’ll figure something out.
2 heavy medic combos on 2fort just rapes the whole opposition.
