Well, its been pre-loaded again, mine has decrypted… and nothing. Launching does nothing. If it doesn’t work by three, back to bed I go.

Ugh. I gotta download HL2. I figured TF2 would be able to launch by itself… so now I’m stuck waiting and downloading HL2 all over again. D:
It’s up, but with like way to many people trying to get on. My computer froze twice starting it up. I finally set my buttons and got to the server screen, almost everyone was full. Finally on opened up with a decent ping, I joined, got to play for about 45 seconds and then like 10 people joined at once and I had to restart my PC again.
Will give it a couple hours and try it again, but the servers are getting hammered right now.
By the way it did open up between 10pm-10:30pm Hawaii time, so technically I suppose it was on Monday…
Played it at my friend’s pad for an hour or so, thoughts:

Lack of Spy’s feign death is kinda sad.

I also miss the Spy’s tranquilizer gun.

Takes awhile for the Spy to decloak.

Removal of normal damage grenades I actually like.

Removal of class-specific grenades still kinda bugs me.

Art direction is solid.

Still not used to Sniping yet. Inability to move while unzoomed & powered up is kinda bothersome.

Double jumping with the Scout is exactly what I was hoping for. I was really worried there’d be some lag between the jumps.

This game is tons of Fun, Some maps are much harder than others. Hydro is crazy hard, the red team it seems to me, but that was only from a bit of play. I had a few glitches like sky freak outs and stuff plus a few weird things when I would win or lose and die at the same time, the game would go crazy for a bit.
Classes all seem perfectly balanced actually so far. I was hoping for a slightly quicker pyro but I think a pyro with a sniper would be a good team moving forward together. I can really see the valve team thing they have going. I want to see more people do small group teamups because if you gang up and you lose the fight you are basically screwed.
Good teams so far
Heavy+Medic = Prolly the best combo if they are good it’s a hard to beat defense. And decent (hella slow) offense
Soldier+Soldier = Great middle of the ground offense bad on D they get overwhelmed.
Sniper+Pyro = Theoretical good combo. For a foward moving offense, pyro stays slightly ahead and sniper covers good shit.
Scout x3 - this combo can overwhelm almost any singular defensive group, except for a well played engineer demo prolly. it’s like MSP sorta… haha
Engineer + Demo, if you have one point you need to protect this team is amazing, have the engineer setup a turrent and a healing spot have the demo man lay down some mines and get his back to the wall and stay with a steady trigger finger, toeghther these guys are anti-rushdown.
Except for the scout team these are assuming teams of 2 you can get bigger and things get crazy also these are just theory stuff I noticed playing for like 2.5 hours or so. This game is awesome.
I’ve yet to get this game to launch without my entire computer freezing and forcing me to do a hard restart. I hate Steam. I hate Valve. Funny thing is is that HL2 will load fine, but after the second load screen of TF2 the game will stop loading and won’t even let me Crtl+Alt+Del out. I swear to god Valve has the worst programmers in the world or something. I’ve always hated Steam and this only fuels my hatred for one of the most diabolical, ineffecient and unreliable programs ever.
IF I actually manage to get this POS to work, I’ll post my opinions about it. Wish me luck. -_-
I like it so far, but man I miss grenades. I’m still getting the random freezing PC in the middle of some games, if anyone else has this, let me know, especially if it is a specific fix I need.
I also agree Kabuki, especially with control point maps, small teams could be the way to go.
I still have a big heart for TFC, heres hoping TFC2 gives me as much fun as the original, need more playtime to tell.
Edit: Seriously, is anyone else having no problem running the game, but mid game, having it just freeze on you? It is seriously pissing me off, it locks my PC most of the time…

So far i’ve had no problems running the game, after playing it for a few hours.
The game is insane so far, I love it. Every class i’ve tried has been fun to play.

I luckily had a dentist appointment this morning, so I was able to stay home a little longer before I had to leave. I love what I’ve played so far. I tried out every class, and I think my favorite so far is the engineer. I never played TFC or Counter Strike, so I’m quite the noob, but I have to say that I’m not doing too bad. The learning curve is very small.
I’ll be on for some games tonight if you guys want to try to hit the same server. As stated before, my steam handle is chairhome. My two younger brothers have been trying it out on my account, too, and they’re way better than me at FPS’s, so if you see me on, it might not be me. Can’t wait to play again later tonight!
Oh yeah my Steam is Full Metal Ross, maybe we should make an SRK group on steam, the new friends thing is pretty nice.

Well, I’m not sure how it compares. The req’s are pretty light:
I’m running it on a relatively new system with a DX10 card, so it looks pretty nice :-D. I think the performance would be pretty similar to Half-life 2, since it looks like the settings that it auto-detected are about the same for my Half-Life 2 settings.

Seems to take up a lot of room for some reason though. My Steamapp folder is 7.81 gigs and all it has is TF2 and HL2 (not even Episode One).
Umm make it private I guess… unless people think that will be a big pain in the ass, whoever makes it can just get Pm’d about adding peole and what not.
